00:00 - 00:38 Appropriate weather outside for this video. Stormy weather and a sad topic today - Viv leaving Arsenal!
00:39 I thought about Beth when I heard the news. Also, people are not happy with Jonas and the whole Arsenal organization.
01:04 We read an article about Viv leaving Arsenal!
02:52 Official word - she did a send-off video speaking about her time there. Very emotional.
03:18 Going through an ACL injury and other issues after the initial ACL tear - she has been through so much.
03:42 Arsenal fans are bummed. She is the GOAT! She has a statue!
04:03 Nice that she can have a proper send-off. Her teammates know they will be playing their last game with her!
04:15 Sad, but it happens with sports (more on this later).
04:25 Fans are not happy for a few reasons, but one big reason is that Arsenal didn't even offer her a contract!!! It wasn't her choice at all!
05:03 She's not fully healed, and they're not offering her a contract? Cold hearted?
05:14 We read a comment about it being crazy not to offer her.
05:33 Her contract was ending this year, and she did a one-year extension with Arsenal. Lyon and Barca wanted her. She could have made a lot of money there!
06:08 At the time, I think her relationship with Beth had to do with it. She wanted to stay near her!
06:30 She didn't have a choice, which is sad.
06:47 She's the highest scorer. How did she not get a contract?
07:02 Jonas said not to offer her a contract? He didn't want her? (More on this later).
    07:30 Poor management choices.
07:55 Viv is bigger than Jonas! Keep Viv, not Jonas!
08:18 Comment about Viv staying with Arsenal when she could have moved on.
08:44 Jonas actually wanted VIV OUT!? There's a video going around where Jonas nudged Viv, and then they got into an argument?!
09:40 Jonas didn't like Viv? Viv spoke her mind, and Jonas didn't like that, so he wanted her out?
10:10 A reporter asked about Viv's contract, and Jonas was smiling. It was weird.
10:38 Not only did he not want to keep her, but he really wanted her out.
11:14 So many loving messages to Viv. They are going to miss her so much.
11:35 Not offering her a contract was a huge mistake.
11:45 But on the other side, players come and go. It's the way of the game.
12:25 Fans love the players so much.
12:37 It didn't make sense for Arsenal to keep her in terms of money?
13:10 What does this mean for Viv and Beth? They won't live together anymore?
13:25 Viv, Beth, and the dogs went on a vacation over the weekend. Calm before the storm. Family time - super cute pics!
14:00 Is Viv going to Man City? It's a 3-hour drive?
14:27 Man City is great!!! It's not too far away!
15:57 DVD left, and Beth and Viv broke up. Could the same thing happen with Viv? No, I don't think so! DVD went so far away!
15:35 It would be an adjustment, but they are end game. They have seen each other every day for many years.
16:01 Get rid of Jonas, not Viv. People are not happy.
    16:22 Has Arsenal fallen off?
16:47 Things like this bring you closer. It can strengthen relationships.
17:17 NWSL could offer Viv money to go to Courage?!
17:42 Katie and Caitlin video coming soon!

not an Arsenal fan but I can sympathise with them as a United fan, having our own terrible male manager, who the vast majority of fans want gone. Getting rid of your star striker because your manager got his feelings hurt is INSANE!

So sad about Miedema, such a great player, a fabulous and honourable woman, the perfect role model for young players, and a tremendous boost to women's football.

From Minnesota. It was Miedema’s beautiful play and mind that brought me to the Beautiful Game. I wonder as I have watched interactions of Jonas if he was intimidated by Viv. I read a reaction about Arsenal letting Viv go by her previous coach and I don’t see Jonas as reacting the same way to Viv’s challenging the coach about how to play. Joe says he loved the discussions he had with Viv and I think Jonas may have felt threatened by her wanting to discuss how to play and improve as a team. When a person feels threatened (it doesn’t have to be a physical threat) they will often react negatively/defensively. (I’m a physician so I deal with this frequently with patients)
I am of the opinion that maybe why Jonas seemed to use the injury/fitness and playing time as a way to gradually get rid of her at the end. Viv’s a softy, as Beth said, but she is according to her teammates and now her previous coach not shy about her opinions about play on the pitch. I don’t obviously know Jonas but his press conferences and interactions are such that I don’t think he has the self confidence to deal with a player like Viv.
Joe Montemurro on Miedema: "She was the symbol in my tenure of how Arsenal wanted to play. I absolutely loved working with her because we used to challenge each other.
Tactically, the way we wanted to approach things, we would have great discussions about how we could improve. I really loved those discussions. She's really an intelligent thinker in terms of the way she sees the game. We had a lot of banter, it was always a lot of fun. She was an amazing listener and an amazing person wanting to bring the game to the next level. She had a massive impact. I definitely grew as a coach.

I've never liked Jonas. For all the talent at Arsenal they should be performing better than they are. Also Cat Marcario, was injured when Chelsea took her on. She took a long time to come back from her injury. and that would have cost Chelsea but they didn't have a problem with that so I don't get the financial argument that's being proposed by Arsenal. I think Jonas doesn't want her.

Arsenal wants to win titles and trophies, especially with the roster of players it has. Winning 2 successive League Cup titles is nice, but definitely not enough.
Maybe Arsenal thought the Viv's progress was just not enough to help the team. Of course the salary aspect also plays a role.
Arsenal definitely wants new signings that will help to achieve its main goals: WSL title and Champions League.
Hope that Viv won't move too far from Beth.

I think that; Okay it’s sad for Arsenal and the whole picture of the team. That shows so much family minded team and know each other for a long time. But Viv has never make a secret that she has a wish to play for another team in the future. So ok it’s sad and good to speculate about this but I think it’s a good decision. New club, new environment and people and hopefully she recover so well that we can see the real 🐐 again. I think she is going to manchester city so she can play with Jill Roord. They are playing together for years. On and off the field have a good click and she is near her home so she create a comfortable environment in both ways.

I find this to be the most bonkers decision for so many reasons. It's almost as if they said, "we can't be bothered to deal with her anymore". Viv is a generational player. Like Sam Kerr, Alexia, Hegerberg, Popp, Harder, Bonmati, etc.. you don't let them go. They leave you. I'm the furthest thing from an Arsenal fan and will say they all deserve better than Jonas. Viv is so talented, and her football intelligence is second to none. I hope wherever she goes, she gets back to her best and shines brighter than ever before.

Even though I assume that it was joke, but saying that the fans stick around for the players is wild and really shows why we are just that, fans. It´s sad, but just like you said it´s sports. Viv stayed when she could have been playing in Barcelona, but that was her choice. Let´s not kid our selfs and think that Viv only stayed out of the kindness of her heart. If she felt that Arsenal couldn't match her ambitions she probably would have left back then. Just as much a club can think that the ambitions can match, but tactically they can´t. It´s not like the club knows that keeping Viv is an absolute guarantee of winning the league next season and then said no? It happened in the men´s team, albeit no one is near the same status and achievements that Viv has. Ramsdale was in the team of the year in premier league but still got replaced the season after. Özil and Aubameyang are other examples, but then again, it´s sports.
Do I think Jonas is the best coach? No. Would I´ve loved for Viv stay? Absolutely. But do I think that Jonas and the club has the right to do what they believe is best for the club? Yes. Whether that was the right decision will be revealed in the future. Players stays and end up regretting staying. Some leave for them to wish they never left. Club keeps players and later regretting not letting then leave. Just as much as clubs let players go and end up regretting it big time. What we as fans feel for a club or a player doesn´t always correlate with what the club or the player want. It´s just sports.

If she can regain her form, and she's just 27 and, presumably, still in her physical prime, so she'll have a very good chance to and she does end up in Man City, I mean.... Viv and Bunny Shaw will literally score whenever they want. Being an athlete is pretty much a nomadic existence, but there's such a small window to do it so I wasn't very surprised by this. On something completely unrelated: There is a French boxer named Ségolène Lefebvre who looks EXACTLY like Viv. I thought Viv was crossing over when I saw this girl.

Sadly it doesn’t matter whether you work for a blue chip company or a football club you are just a number it’s all about the $$$$ feelings and emotions and fans don’t matter it’s all about the control, boss and bottom dollar. Being an Aussie I’m glad we still have Caitlin Steph and Kyra. Obviously Arsenal don’t expect their fans to be loyal as Arsenal are not loyal to their players. Best of luck Beth and wherever Miedema ends up I hope she rocks it and her best football is yet to come.

It'll be interesting to see where she goes next. Providing she and Beth still together I guess she'll stay in the UK. It's a long but feasible weekend commute to Manchester, even so I would have thought Chelsea would be more of a logical step for her. Of course we don't know the extent of her injury problems, which may be a factor in attracting interest from other top clubs.

No player no manager no one is bigger than any club. Arsenal have been under achieving . The manager in this case Jonas has been trying to a advance Arsenal women's football cause. He has to deal with a number of egos and this summer will be very important for his own future. There's a 'clique' mentality in Arsenal and that has to change. If players can't adapt then move on. Others should go too. So many of the players that Jonas has brought in are being stifled by the 'clique'. Just an observation and personal opinion. Arsenal need to lose the soap opera attitude. Viv in my opinion mentally left Arsenal 2 1/2 seasons ago. COVID and ACL injuries have been an obstacle for her. She herself claims that RVP is her idle and her career in North London mirrors that. Best wishes Viv and thank you for your service.

Its the classic conflict of the passion of the fans vs the ultimately the club being a business. My passion as a fan says she has to stay, but the small practical voice in my head says what can the team do with her large salary for other player(s) to be recruited.
I am not convinced she will go to Man city either - i think for her family she will go to another london club to stay close.

Reading here about being out in the cold and forced to leave. Jordy hinted something about this. She had to leave if she would take a spot in the England team due to game time. In Arsenal she had very little forcing her to leave the club. She was a long timer like Viv. How is Viv's former partner Lisa doing? Oh right, she was in Arsenal too. Time really flies.
Well I was considering if Arsenal needs to open up a slot for a future Barcelona player. Given a team can't have too many foreign players?

Surprised Viv is not getting a contract offer for at least a year. Will never understand if she ends up at City how Arsenal would want to potentially strengthen a rival team squad. Also when you look at Arsenal this year there were poor results but also a lack of goals compared to Chelsea and City.
If I was Tony Bloom and David Weir at Brighton one of best run clubs in the UK. I would be trying to get Viv and she could take club to the next level along with existing players and new additions.

If she was willing to play as a 9, she could compete with Russo and Blackstenius but I don't think she'd get in any major European or competitive WSL team at 8. As a business, you can't pay someone to be the leagues best striker when she's insisting on being a mediocre midfielder. The Arsenal was so stacked with the best players. They should have won every game. They should have won every trophy. They should have won it all. The only THING standing in Arsenal's way was a coach that can't get it down. Politics. It is all politics. Emma Hayes is right about Jonas. He wishes he was Emma, the beat womens coach so far. I would like to see Lucy Bronze and Viv play for the same club. I want to see the players who know how to win be aloud to win. Not held back because of politics. This day is coming. Greetings from Malaysia, Jonas Eidewell is a prick. He is the one that should be sack. Look at how the team plays. Lousy and mediocre manager. Don't know which players to put in the games. His coaching style will not beat the other top clubs from Spain, France and Germany How can you let the best player like Vivianne Miedema go? Yes, she cannot play fully now because she is injured. She didn't ask to be injured. But Jonas Eidewall did not give her a chance to play. Vivianne Miedema sacrificed by not going to other better clubs two years back. But when they treat you like a commodity and a liability, you are nothing to them except their money making machine. You can see that when Miedema did not play, the Arsenal team did not fare well. Arsenal club is a heartless club. When you cannot perform anymore, will treat you like rubbish and not offer new contract and force you to leave. Arsenal loss but Vivianne Miedema will come back stronger anywhere and show Arsenal what they loss and beat Arsenal because of their stupidity. Vivianne put Arsenal on the map by being the best time record goal scorer.. I became an Arsenal fan because of Viv but I will not be an Arsenal fan anymore. And it is for better for Vivianne Miedema to go if the club doesn't appreciate you
It all boils down to pounds and cents Vivianne will learn to not to let her emotions rule her heart but only do things in her best interest from now onwards. I believe Vivianne will win more championships and more trophies where ever she is going and what Vivianne is going through now only a minor setback. When Vivianne is fully recovered we will see her best form yet.

I absolutely agree. The man is a disaster in many ways - and now he is treating Miedema so badly. He should be going and she staying,

Hello Sara and Sarah. Vivianne seemed to have dug a hole for herself by criticism of money running the game at a time when Arsenal are off to Australia to make money. She is part of a couple in the team and Chelsea just moved on a vocal half of a different couple, after Emma Hayes comments.
    I am not so surprised.

Eidevall is a mistake. Arsenal's board is also a mistake. Viv now deserves a club like FC Barcelona or Olympique Lyon (or Paris Saint Germain).🤔

no idea about Jonas/Viv. i do know that if i was Arsenal, i wouldnt want to pay her again, she barely plays. best ability is availability. doesnt matter how good she was, or maybe still is, the injuries are piling up. reminds me of Heath. maybe the greatest 1v1 player ever, then the injuries hit. if Jonas touched her aggressively i doubt he'd still be coach. unless the WSL is ok with that type of thing, NWSL has zero tolerance now after all the problems theyve had with coaches being inappropriate. would imagine Meado wants out then as well. weird situation.

Not sure why the assumption is this was not Vivs choice. All the interviews she has done and comments reported made it sound like she was not impressed with jonas. Arsenal have underperformed for the resources he has available for over 2 seasons. If I were Viv and I thought my boss was an incompetent idiot (which is the impression she gives of her opinion of jonas) I would leave. It’s v demoralising to work for someone you do not respect. And she would not be offered a contract if she has given the impression (again) that she doesn’t want it.
Jonas does a fair bit of punditry on uk tv and surprisingly doesn’t come across as particularly sharp. Viv is meant to be a smart footballing thinker (previous coach and other players have said) so with jonas’ ego this would cause friction neither would enjoy.

OK, OK, this door has closed. Take your skills and knowledge to an up and coming club. Negotiate just like bechman did when moving to the states. You get the idea. The world is open now to women's soccer.

Jumping onto the WSL bandwagon after the world cup, I thought for sure the Gunners would be my team, with three Australians there. But I quickly got the sense that the coach is a pretty big wanker and so I had to look elsewhere 😂
