I use Presencia no.12 for big stitch hand quilting & liked it.

Omg, SO HELPFUL. Thank you! I was raised by my grandmother who taught me how to sew and crochet and embroider...until three years ago when she passed away I was caring for her and she was a major part of my daughter's life. I haven't really embroidered since my daughter was born because I didn't have the time, and as I am getting back into it I am finding that even some of the basics are escaping me! (How, after having done *miles* of it growing up, did I forget about coaching as an alternative to backstitching? How did my brain just file that away? Oof!)
I have all these different kinds of thread and floss and some of it I am just not certain about--flosstube in general has been incredibly helpful, but this one in specific has been lovely! Thank you!

Very useful. I tried a Wonderfil 8 and felt it didn't draw through as easily as my Aurifil. But I like your pencil analogy so think I'll try again, and also with the Presencia, thank you👍

Valdani is nice thread, and it is probably color fast 😁

Do you find that the threads mentioned are all equally as colorfast?

I would trust them all, especially threads from Presencia, but I have not actually tested them. Each company does testing but it is probably like fabric in that different water chemistries have different effects on dyes. If I was using dark Perle cotton on light colors, I might test the thread for bleeding-or not. Knowing me, I would add Retayne and 1 or more Color Catchers if/when I washed the quilt.

@@BeckyGoldsmith Thank you. I've tatted with Presencia but never quilted. Thanks for sparking our creativity to try new things.

What is the name of your book?

There are so many books, but probably The Ultimate Thread Guide is the one you are after. You can find it here on my site: pieceocake.com/collections/books/products/44291014 or you can probably find it on Amazon. I also offer it as an ebook :-).
