You can buy the proper shape stainless steel tamper for the refillable pods. The tamper presses down the coffee more evenly. Do no exceed the max fill line or the pod will burst as the coffee expands with hot water. There are also various sizes available. 60, 180, 200, 220ml barcoded lids.
Think about it, why would you want to tamp it down to then turn it over to put it in the machine. It makes no sense buying a tampa, Don't waste your money on a useless product when you can just use the back of the measuring spoon.
I too love my reusable tassimo coffee pod, But I prefer to use paper filters, Not only does it make it easier to clean but personally I think it gives a better cup of coffee, Do not be conned into buying all the different size pods available I personally bought two, but they are both the same, The only thing that is different is the barcode on top, which you can just take off of one of your throwaway pods to get the volume that you require.
1. The pods can be recycled Tassimo offer this service. 2. The barcode is the size not the pod (you can pickup other size lids no need to hold button for extra water) 3. I wouldn't rate any of the coffee in the pods as quality (people have low standards gotten to used to the likes of Starbucks) 4. Hot choc and teas are fine to use in these (milk as well) 5. You can get filters as well which do help with some drinks 6. You dont pack it to max for one cup of coffee. 7. Holding the button adds more water not more coffee that is as pointed out before controlled by barcode (this is why pg pods do the same)
I have a T21 disk type Tassimo. Are you saying that you can purchase a different pod with a different bar code that puts out more coffee than like the one in the video? If so could you attach a link please? Thanks in advance and thanks for the video @badfoodblog.
Hey lovely vid I was considering getting one of these of Amazon but then saw the reviews saying there’s has exploded but you have proven that the coffee expanding over the fill line was the issue definitely getting one of these now thanks for the review
I'd say tamping coffee down is better than not just remember to not overfill with coffee and think of coffees expansion when water gets in and mixes with coffee You don't want your coffee loose as water doesn't linger enough to produce a strong mug of coffee so you slow down the water by tamping coffee down
My only issue is the amount programmed into the bar code. I use 12 oz Tassimo pods, and the larges I have found in reusables is 220 ml, 7.43 oz, so I generally run it through twice. My pod takes around 1 tablespoon, and the coffee is great.
I bought one of these pods last week. I use the gold spoon that came with it to push the coffee down. I am still finding it tastes weaker than with a French press so I don't add any additional water to it afterwards. I have only used it a few times but I do think it would be better with the proper tamper that doesn't come with the kit. I over-filled it one day last week and the pod burst open and it made a big mess!
Def similar in regards to stainless steel version I've got no tamper I just use little plastic scoop that came with it and I have to agree the coffee that gets brewed is weak taste wise
@@Gollammeister I bought the proper tamper separately and it's made a huge difference to how the coffee tastes. It's now pretty much exactly like you get from a premade pod. If the coffee isn't tamped down properly the water doesn't flow through it in the same way and you get a weak flavour. You definitely need the proper tamper
I have the same. I always wondered what the second barcode was for?? Only one way it can sit in the machine, but only gives about 5 oz of coffee! I guess you press the button to get more water.
They provide bags the nearest place to deposit them is a 25 mile drive! Also they are plastic and foil combo this is green washing at best and an attempt to circumvent single plastic laws nothing more.
@@BadFoodBlog Yes, and they will only provide bags to recycle if you buy direct from Tassimo, if you get your pods from Amazon or the supermarket, you cannot recycle.
I have just got one of these with the tamper. It works as you have demonstrated, and you cannot complain about that. However, a genuine Tassimo pod creates a creamy crema on top, which is very desirable, I wonder what needs to be done to get a crema?
What an excellent question, I hadn't given that a thought but I don't see why I couldn't put my Marvel powder into the machine Although it's usually mixed with cold water I don't see why it wouldn't work. That said, I may be able to put normal milk in to it, Although it may get a bit messy, tipping it upside down to put it in the machine.
Just make a coffee as normal and whilst it's brewing, microwave some milk for 1 min. Use a battery powered whisk to froth the milk and add to the coffee.
I've got the stainless steel version one thing I've noticed is the coffees always weak tasting now that could down to fine grind or other factors pressure temp etc
I have a question I brought 2 of these pods like you show in the video how dose it make the coffee as I notice the pods do not have a hole for the water to get in I tried to make a hot chocolate it was awful so I just put hot chocolate in the mug which defeats having the tassimo machine in the first place .I am talking about the reusable pods not the genuine ones that you buy for the tassimo to make your drinks with
I too have made a hot chocolate in these pods but mine came out fine, I just added sugar to the cup and used instant hot chocolate which already comes with the whitener added. Ps Don't pack the powder into the pod to tightly that may have been your issue what I did was put the powder in the pod then shook it to loosen the powder before putting it in the machine.
Do you need extra fine ground coffee for this? I just got one recently, tried it and there was water leaked from the pod. The thing was that, the lid seem to be not tight enough. (again: my ground coffee that I used, wasn't really fine.)
@@Weissherz I have figured it out. The problem was that, I press the ground coffee so hard that the water can't get through the pod. Later I reduce the amount of coffee and only close the pod without pressing. It works fine sonce then.
They come stamped down in regular pods so I stamped the refillable one at first. Now I don't tamp it because I get full use of the grounds when they are looser. I also cut off the bar codes of a crema capsule but still working on getting more crema. ❤
can someone help? i jave this reusable tassimo pod but the coffee i use is for espresso cuz i want an espresso. and it comes out as an american coffee. with no cream at all. does sb know what can i do??
Mine worked great and started exploding I am beginning to think Max might be right about using the instant. I will try an expresso one and see if that solves it. Update if you have had any issues since please. Also once I got used to the different taste I prefer it now. It’s a bit like rocket fuel for me though as it seems so much stronger. The mess when it explodes is terrible
Where is the crema? Hail nespresso. Btw, instead of start cleaning the way you did it, first ''make'' another cup without coffee in the pod. Then after that you can still clean the remaining coffee.
Yeah, the filter in the lid is removable. It just pops out and it's easily put back in again once it's been cleaned. I don't know why they come with a brush I have never used it.
I can't find the link to the refillable t-disc and tamper, do you have a link for a place that ships to USA? Nevermind, I think I found it! About time! Especially now it's hard to get t-discs here. I will NEVER buy a Keurig, I'll splurge for one of those fancy machines that makes the whole gamut. Keurig makes watery coffee, even the "professional" ones in offices. You are absolutely right on the extraction of Tassimo,, far superior, but was poorly marketed. The Betamax vs VHS.

Instructions for the genuine pods say shake it first. Which would suggest the coffee should have room to move and be loose.
Isnt that just the creamer part pods for lattes etc?
You can lift out the pod holder and the spout to clean the machine easier

Does tamping improve brewing or just leave coffee loose when brewing
You do have to tamp, else you risk channelling which will make simultaneously over- and underextracted coffee which tastes awful

I like mine just ashame we can get the froth 😊
I'm missing the froth 🤨
You could always splurge and buy yourself a milk frother.
If you grind it finer and put less in, you will get a stronger coffee, stick the barcode from a 220ml from one of the old ones to get a full cup.
I tried one of these using Kenco filter coffee. It tasted absolutely nothing like the Tassimo pods you get in the shops
You need to get espresso ground coffee ideally, or grind your own from beans.
you dont have a crema. Either your coffee grind is wrong or you need to tap with higher pressure to achieve it
It is a lot of hassle we have moved back to a decade old nespresso machine as it is better for the environment and no plastic packaging!
please sir where Can i find this, thanks

Great video but not sure about the product
Try making the coffee without tamping, in the genuine pods you buy, the coffee is loose when you shake the pod.

It's also down to grind setting how quick or slow the water passes through coffee
Can you give me the link of the product?
