I recall riding up Mow Cop in Staffordshire which is quite steep. Part way up my heart was beating so fast that I had to stop bug then was faced with a similar dilemma to tbe descent here as it was a fairly damp day. Do I press on and finish the climb but risk a heart attack or retrace my steps on tbe greasy road downhill and risk falling off and fracturing skull? I decided to press and was ok as it happened but thinking about it at the time and since its always made me smile.
I have a couple of questions: 1) I may have missed this in your video but what gearing did you use and what gearing do you plan to use on your next effort? 2) This question is a bit cheeky but still needs to be asked: we all know this is one of the toughest climbs in the world so why would you tackle it a bit fatigued and not properly rested?
I had a 36-28 smallest gear and to be honest I think probably just swapping to a 34 on the front or 30 on the rear would’ve been enough to allow me to pace it better. And it was just a matter of when I had time to do it. I was up in Eskdale for a family party so was busy all day on the Saturday and the Sunday morning was my only free moment to give it a crack. 5 pints and bad sleep the night before probably did more damage than the gravel ride 😂

36-28!!! - mental, I wouldn't even consider trying this with a 36-35! - all credit to you for doing it, awesome.
Top effort mate, really enjoyed the vid :)
I still think "going for a fairly steep ride" is a better name for the channel. awesome job, well done.
Church lane in north wakes near Bala. Absolutely brutal relentless 25%.
Hi got on to your video via an anagram.must say, your video shows best how steep that climb is.
Cracking effort mate, the worse bit had a river flowing down so you did well there mate, I’ve seen many come off there even in dry conditions 👌😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Smash it!
