In 1989 I bought the Art nightBass with the gigantic MIDI pedalboard. About three years ago I found one on eBay with the pedalboard for $200 total I think it could be a little over a grand brand new. Some of it sounds really great, but mostly I used it to learn about effects and affect chains but damned if it isn't fun to play with all that stuff. It has both a tube preamp and solid-state and you can mix the two really fun
I remember that unit. A friend/fellow local Bass Player had it years ago when it 1st came out. I think it was about $2200.00ish with the petal board. I loved it & wanted one back then, but couldn't afford it. I should have a look online for one myself. Would be cool. Thanks for mentioning that. Almost forgot about that unit. Also thanks for watching/commenting, & if you have not yet already, please subscribe.
Good review I enjoyed that. I think a bassist friend of mine had one in the early 90s. I used to work for the UK distributor of their products Sonic 8 Ltd back in 2004-6. Some nice products of which I bought a few, including the DPSII digital valve preamp which is really nice, and the model above it is even better.
I've had one of these for years. Kinda stored it away because of newer cleaner Fx units but always loved the doubling effect of the pitch transposer set to 0 pitch or 0 pitch and +5% on the fine tune. I don't remember it sounding this clean? This video makes me think I should dig it out, dust it off and revisit it.
Sounds fantastic! There's some magic about rack and vintage stuff. Looks neat. I'd love to get a rack case but they're not cheap. And so far I only own 1 rack so might wait a bit til I collect some more so it'll make sense getting a case
@@MUSICIANGeeK IIRC you mentioned this one lets using 4 effects at once? I know those are different tech eras but when I found Valeton can load up to 9 fx it shocked me how digital stuff became so serious and pro
Hey OP: how do you COPY a preset? I have the Alpha 2 which is really similar to this and the manual is no help at all. I can store a preset no problem but it never gives me an option to save it elsewhere. The manual mentions something about preset 100 being a useful "empty" preset but nothing more. Any help? Great vid!
Hi, sorry, to be best of my knowledge, you can't copy a preset that I know of. Thanks for watching/commenting, & if you have not already, please subscribe.
If I remember correctly, it might that you enter edit mode on any preset, then change the preset number to the destination preset and click save. That is commonly how many older keyboards and other units did this. I have one and got mine in 1993, it was crucial to my live vocals back then, as well as for use in my studio.
Wow, not sure at all. This unit is from 2yrs before I started playing music. It was given to me by a friend. I wish I could tell you. I would assume it was quite expensive at the time, because it was cutting edge gear when It came out in 1998. Thanks for watching!
@@MUSICIANGeeK thanksd for the reply. i was curious because i found this on ebay for 50€ so i was intrested in what this gear was :D i never heard of this unit... :)
According to the Sound On Sound magazine review from January 1989, the price here in the UK was £499 which at the currency conversion rates back then would make it approx $800 perhaps.
Actually, the examples start at 7:14 It's an old unit, so what I was going for was also a tutorial on how to use it. Add effects, adjustments. I did not find much of that on the web, so I thought I would do that. Thanks for watching/commenting.

Old unit for sure, but still not bad at all. Thanks for watching.
Just added one of these to my PA system's rack for a few vocal tricks.
Yes, they are pretty cool. Thanks for watching/commenting, & if to jag bnot already, please subscribe.

I agree. The old rack stuff is awesome. I only have this & a BBE sonic maximizer. They can be expensive. These were given to me by a good friend.
@@MUSICIANGeeK Just watching your BBE video. You're reading in my mind lol
Awesome lol

Is there seriously just fifteen minutes of talking before any example? Jesus.
