    • @Sabundy
      @Sabundy 2 года назад +54

      Exactly. Almost all are lying about being self made. Most come from money. Musk for example comes from a very rich family in South Africa (I am South African and this is common knowledge in SA). His father owned diamond mines under Apartheid. Where the diamonds mining was mostly done by black people having to work for peanuts under the Apartheid regime. So basically slave labour if we are being bluntly honest.

      Yeah, I don't believe it for a second. Her BF was like: "Well, we're not engaged or married or anything, and she's worth billions...hmmm. I know...I'll beat her up so I never have to spend any of that money. Besides, her dad is rich and powerful, so pissing him off is a great idea! And look! Everyone on her board looks so rich, they could afford a lawyer who could talk me into eating myself from the toes up. I just love having enemies like that!"?
      Like...I'm not saying that rich powerful people don't get abused by their partners. I'm saying their partners hold the abuse until they've at least gotten a little something for themselves out of the relationship. How do you even abuse a partner, knowing that they're constantly appearing on national TV, and could tell the entire country what you've been doing to them. Someone who could be in her position, but let a partner abuse them, would not come across the way she does. You gotta be a special kind of timid for that. It's not like she never had anyone to turn to. She had EVERYONE to turn to. The people she associated with were like a who's who of the people you'd want to contact to make sure you got the absolute swiftest, best protection possible, and the absolute worst consequences for the person who abused you. How do you even maintain a fake deep voice if you're constantly stressed? You have to be Hella relaxed for that, or your voice is cracking and squeaking after a minute.

And it already is available in the diabetes market and perhaps the device could be made to give a basic diagnoses, but it would just be to send you to a doctor to be treated, no more. Also Google has a patent for a similar nanoneedle system but it utilizes sound to open the skin pores to create a painless injection. And those are nothing new, just expensive and doctors eschew them due to price and the fact it cannot deliver an intramuscular injection. This scandal reminded me of the 20th Century motor company, started by Liz Carmichael in the 70s, who promised a fuel efficient car called the "Dale". The timeline of that scandal practically mimics that one.
    Also, I'm glad Theranos failed. As a phlebotomist, I cannot tell you how many people tried to rub in my face how I'd "be out of a job soon" because of this Company. It was so insulting and rude to see how many people were gleefully looking forward to the demise of my career. Not that I don't think the idea is great, but some people where so rude about it.

      UK car maker Reliant tried it with America utilising its Reliant Zoe which was basically a tiny three wheel car with a Jaguar back axle sticking out like two very sore thumbs either side at the back. The whole saga is worth researching up on, how a slick car salesman was so sure it was America's next big "thing" and how very few were sold because the "brains" stateside had convinced themselves the American public would flock to it, they found out that ignoring the very real American public who looked at it and laughed... a lot... and studiously failed to buy it at any price.

    9:18 As a nurse myself - How the fck did anyone fall for this? Even governments that usually analyze, investigate, review options carefully that they buy for their health care facilities, patients?
    Did none ask how you could fit a pharmacy into that small thing? Antibiotics is basicaly the worst to store, prepare and release into the bloodstream. The shelf-life is so bad, the substance is so sensitive to stuff like light, heat and the like. The common ones are prepared by mixing around 20ml of distilled water or NaCl in a bottle with a antibiotic mixture, carefully, then injected slowly into a vein over around 3 - 5 minutes because of the potential to cause an anaphylactic shock if the patient is allergic to the particular antibiotic. Is that thing going to do all this, and monitor the patient at the same time? How, mechanically, does it pump this into the bloodstream?
    If its connected to a vein then there's all kinds of stuff that needs to be monitored, prevented and fixed. A sh*tload of potentiall problems in a short amount of time. Did none even question this at all?
    Just.. jesus christ.

    I found the Star Trek comparison interesting because we have moved past some of the tech featured especially the communicators and are still a million miles from others especially the med tech.

    I looked at the miniLab paper and I have to say the tragic behind this is also that Theranos apparently had some good engineers and scientists for some time, which would have maybe, given enough time, come up with a valid product. Of course not the magic beans that were promised, but atleast something that could compete with the market. (with the Siemens product etc.). But the utterly incompotence of the management and missing of quality leadership did not allow for a success and lead to a lot of people losing their jobs or leaving in frustation and despair.

      I try to correspond by email until I meet someone with all work related things. Actually, I wish that I could do that romantically too, but I am not bothering with that at all anymore. When I speak on the phone, I have the voice of a young viral star on Tik Tok. People ask to speak to my mum, thinking that my daughter, (that I don't have), has picked up my phone. I even introduce myself when I answer, but they still do it. If I could believably deepen my voice, I would do it in a heartbeat.
