Majority of dictators are usually elected in. Meaning that the scary "coming in and stripping power" idea of tyrants is very outdated. Citizens more often than not will voluntarily give up their powers/rights to a leader for various reasons (security, war, crisis, financial collapse, etc.). We choose the dictator, not the other way around in most cases. So how willing is your country to become a dictatorship? How willing are they to give up their freedoms in order for emotional security? It's often countries that are in a bad place to start with and become desperate enough to turn to a dictator.
James Burgess Sad. People are willing to give up their freedoms for the illusion of security. In the US as long as we have our 1st and 2nd amendment we will remain free. If we lose those 2 amendments, we lose our freedom and sure enough we’ll be back for another civil war.
