The Amazing Story of My Stolen Bamboo Bike and How I Got it Back

- After nearly a year in the making, I am so excited to finally release the story of how my bamboo bike got stolen and the wild roller coaster ride I went on to try to get it back. Many of you saw the adventure as it unfolded, but you only saw a fraction of the whole story.
When I decided to search for the bike I had a feeling it was going to be quite the adventure, so I decided to film it, but I never, ever expected it to turn out like this. I truly hope that you'll take the time to watch this short film. I believe you'll be very glad you did.

Isnt she michelle?
@@jamesred7272 no
@@jamesred7272 she is
Yeah, probably Michelle? She seemed to react in a pissed-off way, at first, and then I'm not sure what she saw that changed her attitude (after she said "I'm sorry" in a sarcastic way)... I think she was frustrated and defensive for her loss, but realized it was about something more important than a bicycle.
Rob, you instinctively practiced restorative justice. So cool.
Hi Ya, I've had a blessed life I'm 70 years old , I'm changing my residence and I must have ten bikes in my garage . I now know what I'm gonna do with them. And I'm working with the Manager of my new residence to find homes for bikes that have been abandoned in the locker room. Also, a good friend of mine works for boys and girls clubs ,so we are going to collaborate to develop a bike program. My heart feels so full.
So wonderful. Best of luck
Keep us updated!
I love that! x
Good bless you
God bless you wonderful man
I consider myself a pretty nice guy, but on a scale of one to ten, I'm a one and Rob is a 10+.
I hear you man. I'm a pretty nice guy myself, but I'm also angry as hell. Rob doesn't go there....
I'm a patient dude, I probably wouldn't even attempt to look for it.
Yeah man, he's literally okay with any situation he's in.
I respect it but geezus.. I could never
dispense with the defeatist attitude. i know you didnt mean to do it but if you keep comparing yourself to great people you will never take the first step to changing your life, doing something for the better and achieving all the things you would like to, passion is only a fraction unless put into action.
Yeah a 10+ to his charisma modifier.
He solved every encounter with peaceful diplomacy.
When that guy offered to hold the bike thief down and you were like "Oh, I'm a peaceful guy" omg that was so cute and exactly the sort of response we needed . You are such a great example of positive masculinity and such a genuine person. I wish you the best in life
@@sarahloffler "ugly subtext" whatcha talking about?
Yeah, I was clearly implying that society has a negative expectation that men be aggressive and violent. Our culture too often raises men with certain unhealthy standards--never cry or be soft, anger and aggression are fine, etc., and it's nice to see a guy that's clearly not fucking with that. I also think this evidenced a wider societal problem of reacting to crime with punishment and disdain rather than understanding and corrective justice (there are some exceptions of course but I generally believe that society first makes the criminal and then punishes them)
@@sarahloffler You are clearly presenting your opinion based on limited experiences in your personal bubble. Lots of cultures expect certain masculine traits of a man or else they are deemed weak : by both men and females. I’m sure you’ll argue with that anyway, 🤪
@@sarahloffler No, you’ve the right idea. I love me some men, too. 🕺🏽

Heroin is a bitch of a drug.
I would not say ashamed, the thing is. In this world of individuality we all are fighting a fight for survival and needs. He probably saw dollar signs watching this bike and was in a big need, think of how the world have treated him tho? Yes, he also probably been harsh to others to but there is hope in everyone.
In this world we live there is many judgers who judge not even wanting to look for clues or understanding.

There was never a man like my Johnny. Like the one they call Johnny guitar.

Rob, I am blown away by you. I am a nurse who has worked with the homeless who suffer with substance misuse disorder. What you did with this situation and all the people you came in contact with is incredibly beautiful and will forever change their hearts. You showed each of the homeless people what it truly is to feel loved, accepted, considered and valued, unconditionally. I am so glad you have a channel and hope this video reaches the masses, as you are a rare person in today’s world and we need more people to understand how to love like this! Thank you for all that you do in having such a beautiful positive loving compassionate effect on our world!

@Rejix Gaming are we talking worldwide? Because the police force here in Finland is kind and fair. I don't think I've heard of one police brutality cases or mistaken shootings here.
It would be hard to act that way with an irratic drug addict pointing a gun at you that they could shoot at any second.

That’s what I call P.A.U.S.E. (Please Act Under Stable Emotions). You didn’t allow your negative emotions to get over you, so you were able to turn this situation into something good. Great example 👏
This is why I love Rob. He is just an amazing human!!!

you're a boss.
I was moved by your kindness. You are such an asset to the entire world. If we have 100 people of your calibre, we can change the world. Thanks Rob Greenfield being so compassionate towards fellow human beings and show the world with practical solutions. Thanks for showing your community especially young kids how a negative situation could turn out be very positive.
When this guy says "I love you all" he literally means it. And this video is proof.
After an accident left me homeless after 14 months in the hospital. I eventually ended up working with homeless people for the last 30 years. What you did was spot on. Love is the power above all else. It is not being a social worker that is needed, but a brother, an uncle, a father, and even a mother, is most often what is called for and the best counseling starts with "I went through something just like that once!!". This is what Christ is saying when he tells his disciples..."I will make you fishers of men." You cast a wide net my brother. Well done.
When I grew older, my hair turned grey and childhood memories would visit me more and more often - a sign of coming end of the road.....I realized that the love is the greatest legacy we can pass on the ones who remain . Everything else is just a mirage.
You are just the kind of people this world needs.
I remember when I was a kid 12-13 years old, I got my dream bike for my birthday, and it was stolen 2 weeks afterwards. I still miss that bike. It was a pastel blue beach cruiser with a cute little basket in the front. Losing a bike can honestly be so heartbreaking. Especially to a kid.
S Phung well, get busy, son.
Losing anything can be so heartbreaking
I hope you bought that little kid that's still inside you a nice bike to ride. There's always time. :)
saurabhnow Maybe someday! I’d definitely like to, but there are more important things I have to buy right now.
Yeah, I've had two of my bikes stolen. One of them we got back, but they destroyed it.
This made me cry. I had 6 of my bikes stolen in NYC area. I know the feeling very well. Thank you for being KIND.
I don't know why I'm crying wile watching this. Rob is too precious for this world.
RUclips sent me here on July 15th, 2020.

Thank you for sharing your story and thank you for not giving up.
As a teacher, I’d love every kid in the world to watch this video. There’s so many things you can learn out of it. Thank you Rob. ❤️💛💚
This shows so well to not judge a book by it's cover. The way you treated each homeless person so humanly is beautiful to watch. This is how things should be. If we treated people with mental illnesses, disorders, disabilities, financial disparities and homelessness with such love and kindness ... we would certainly have a way better place! Glad you found your bike and turned what could had been a bad experience into a positive one. Thank you!
Your such a beautiful soul! Thank you for making the world a better place!
You are the nicest guy. The world needs more people like you.
You need to start a garden for the homeless to come work on and when they worked for a full day then they will be able to stay the night on the property and have three meals the day they worked allowing them the experience they can actually get a real job with and it creates a greener future. Maimonides: "Give a man a fish and feed him for the day, Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime."
I mean, that's less than minimum wage isn't it? A few hours sounds better.
@@DeterminedDIYer Well then how about they go get a minimum wage job instead? The point of running a community garden and shelter is to teach life skills and supply for needs not supply a market rate job.
I think it's a good idea. Homelessness is about circumstances and we need to help each other and treat everyone with respect and love. Much easier said than done but...
@@in4theride75 a lot of homeless people can't get a job or a place to stay because they have a criminal record. You have no idea how hard it is to find someone to take you if you have a record. Even if they don't they could have a mental illness that makes it hard to hold a job down. Also most employers or people renting will not give you a chance if they know that you're homeless because there is a lot of stigma about homeless people. It's a especially hard in the states because there are next to no support for people to help them get on their feet. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's really really hard. So next time you say " why don't they just get a job" you can think of this and maybe have a little more compassion about it.
@@emg.721 dats crazy, at least in my country if u have criminal records u can still work
Your so kind..If people around the world like you.We have a peaceful world. God Bless You.
What a very wholesome man! I'm just 13, and live in the Philippines. I swear I've never felt so emotional in my life by just watching a single video. I wish to be someone like you when i grew up, and help the world. And I have to tell you that this has inspired me a lot. In my opinion, this channel deserves millions and millions of subscribers, to awaken everyone's minds, and let them perceive the world in a different perspective. I salute to all the people that makes the Earth a better place, and someday I'll be one of them. And I beleive that you could also be a part of the change.
Dear Rob,
I have been following your channel for a really long time. And i really admire what you do. I admit that i lack the depth of generosity you have. But i am deeply grateful to you for turning this world into a better place, a little bit at a time. You have raised the bar higher, my friend. Hope you always do well.
