My theory is the reason Silco could never give up Jinx is because she represents everything he loves about the undercity. Chaotic, creative, a little volatile and completely ingenious.
You might be right there. I didn´t even thought of that. I´m pretty sure he also sees parts of his own past with Vandor in her and her relationship to Vi. (Getting betrayed and abbandon by their sibling, fighting them, but still beeing unable to actual hate them) I can´t quite remember, but I think he even got a flashback to Vendor betraying him, after he picks up Powder in Ep.3
No. She represents everything he loves about HIMSELF.. or wished he was.. in his twisted mind her life is a mirror image reincarnation of the oath taken by him &Vander He's a power hungry narcissist.. he owned so many uptown officials he could've EASILY wrangled a deal with them before Ironboy came along.. but he instead chose to slowly gut &infest his city &exploit his people..that's because when its all said &done all his lofty ideals are a fraud.. something Vander figured out a LONG time ago (hopefully they'll show exactly why he tried to end him in S2) Silco just wants to be the big man in charge &to compensate for his feeling of being weak &helpless when he was younger (a trait he ironically shares with Jinx) &will do anything to maintain that. I absolutely adored the clothing choice on the designers part! Original jinx from the game wears a bralette and short shorts, which, while an iconic look that highlights how eccentric her style is, it’s not functional for the type of things she does. Given how Jinx suffers from an extreme attachment disorder and effectively transferred her attachment from Vi to Silco after the fire, she probably didn’t have much of a rebel phase with him. She would do anything she could to make sure he wouldn’t abandon her like Vi. Her biggest issue growing up would be her untreated PTSD and (possibly) schizophrenia, which would make her manic and inconsolable at times. Growing up, she would probably try to follow Silco’s command to the best of her ability, but her mind would be to warped to properly understand and/or follow them the way he intended. So Silco probably didn’t need to worry about her not following his directions, he just had to worry about her misinterpreting them and doing something batshit crazy.
Damn I could totally imagine a 180 life for Jinx if she was born in the upper. She would be this up n coming prodigy of the academy. She is timid and shy socially eventho she's popular. Her method in science and gadgetry is just as chaotic and coggy as this jinx.
Или бы она стали политиком и мастером интриг, которой было плевать не Заун))) Or would she have become a politician and a master of intrigue, who didn't care about Zaun)))
I’m guessing in that timeline Vi would also have a radically different childhood - I’m imaging she’d be a stereotypical mean girl; that sense of personal responsibility not drilled into her due to her circumstances.
I love the voice crack in her voice when she yells "your playing me" shows how bad it hurts her that her sister is betraying her again but falling for an inforcer and she actual mental battle with the people she loves in her sentance "shut up, I'm in no mood" shows her struggle in finding what is and isn't real
This implies she actualy sang/recorded that herself. I also would´ve loved it if they added a scene of her humming Vi´s theme at some point, like she does in-game.
That "I'm a helpless little girl, and I set the building on fire, by accident totally by accident." Is my favorite, the way that the voice recording distorts and how it could tye to when she was little and blew up a building accidentally killing her friends
It's strange but in the Season 2 announcement vid, we hear Jinx say, "I'm glad it's you." Then, in the same voice distortion kicks in and she says, "I had to be you." Is she giving up, or just faking them out again?
Same. I didn't cry the first time I watched it, but the day after just thinking about the end made me cry. Especially Silco's last words and Jinx hearing "We will show them all". Rewatching that scene had me sobbing.
I thought the end was pretty sad, because she screwed up bad and again without even knowing it. Having the councile approve Silcos dream of an independent nation, while Jinx trys to revenge Silco by killing them.
I honestly pity Jinx. She's such a brilliant mind but is so severely traumatized by the things she experienced as a kid that her madness is the only escape that she has. Deep down she's still the sensitive sweet girl named Powder. But she chooses the delirium of "jinx" to protect herself. I hope that eventually her story gives her growth and peace.
I knew she couldn´t have killed her. The downside of already knowing the overall lore and that all actual Champions from the game can´t realy die in the series. But it still was an extremly tense scene, even if you know it can´t be her.
I really love Jinx as a character. As she gets older and the series progresses, you can see her mental health spiral, and her delusions and hallucinations are portrayed in a really creative way! In some ways, I can relate to her, just in the fact of me developing schizophrenia because of trauma and I can see a lot of that in her. Bravo to the team for putting together this amazing plot and beautiful animation 👏

@@АтанасГенчев-ы6ь you cant "cure" schizophrenia, just like you cant "cure" severe depression. It stays with you for life, but theres ways to help it be less severe, like therapy and medication. I love jinx so much as a character. Her personality is so unique in my opinion. And she is funny and a badass at times .I loved her character the most in this series ❤️
What I just now realized... Jinx's targeting the Council wasn't random. Jinx targeted the Council because, after overhearing Silco, she attributed to them just as much guilt for Silco being forced to choose between her and Zaun. In a way, they're kinda the catalyst that lead to Jinx having a break down to capture Silco and ending up killing him. So she said, "If Silco is gonna go, then you all may as well too."
I think the same, with this jinx he will fall into total madness, he will not have a happy ending, Powder k1ll asilco, Jinx will eliminate the happy ending for Powder.
@@yourlocaldemon2195 still, an actual mini gun would knock you off your feet if you tried to fire it like that. thats why you mostly find them bolted on the sides of helicopters as they rain down lead, death, and total destruction.
So I knew this Korean girl who was super skinny like that and she kicked ass at arm wrestling, even grown men with serious poundage on her. Jinx makes me think of her.
Oof the "I'm a little girl and I set the building on fire by accident! Totally by accident!" hurts so much more considering that's how she accidentally lost her first family and how Vi abandoned her more or less. And then she went full crazy and DIDN'T light things on fire by accident.
It's implied in Jinx's council archives that Silco eventually sent her out on jobs that involved 'taking care' of people as a kind of initiation. While the first deaths she caused were accidental, I think he underestimated how those intentional kills (and getting approval for it) would warp her mindset and make her so casual about it like she is here.
1:10 that small nod followed by that slight glance of pride and excitement by jinx is so hilarious, you can imagine her thinking "yeah, that's exactly what I did, awesome right?"
Since Arcane is ending this week, I’ll just start off by saying that in 2021 on Thanksgiving, this video was the reason why I got into Arcane. I loved Jinx’s character and grown very attached to her as I personally relate to her. It makes me sad that the series is ending and while I know that they’re gonna make more shows, I just won’t feel that attachment like how I have with Jinx. It sounds silly to say that but Arcane was one of my biggest hyperfixations and saying goodbye to it will make me sad but I will always love it
This show is incredible, jinx was fantastic. Like a steampunk female joker, loved every second of her screen time. Definitely had death of the family vibes from the dinner table scene
Honestly this story of jinx and her sister is sad. I wish they show a lot more time of her becoming they way she was. I really wanted to see echo reach out to her a lot more. I feel like the way her and echo played it’s like they had a deeper connection. The fact that he painted her on the wall of people gone tells me he probably tried to reach out to her many times and failed. But I really wanted them to show those attempts.
The fact that he choose to stop hitting her really spoke volume. He could have killed her plenty of times as seen in each scene. He also may seem hard and cold hearted but he truly cares for jinx. Also the face they both made before battling and the fight scene tickled my heart.
I think he put powder on the wall because he loved powder but knew that the powder he knew was dead. He accepted that Jinx was someone completely different.
I would honestly want to see her reaction to killing someone for the first time, she racks up quite the body count in this show and seems to be able to kill effortlessly. I would want to see when she became so desensitized to it all
I like to think that Jinx is actually super good at cooking just because she thought it would be fun. Also characterization, small moves, ticks, expressions... It's just... It's fucking life-like and I love every scene she's in.
0:39 - LOL You know, my headcanon is that Silco, having had the sort of Roanapur-esque life and upbringing he probably had in Zaun, has _no idea_ how children work and how to raise them, so everything crazy about how Jinx acts or does things is just shrugged off him as "hm, must be some weird kid/teenager thing", at least until she starts hanging his crayon-painted enforcers from the wall and threatening him with needles. Only then he enters "Too Old For This BS" phase, but he still cares in a "Okay, she cray-cray, but she's MY crazy daughter, what you gonna do...". He's not the best parent or person out there in the multiverse, but at least he had the heart and temperament of a good father. I can only imagine how he'd react if she found a boyfriend. XD
He literaly tried to kill Vi at the table in the diner scene just because he knew that allowing Vi to tell Jinx the true would take her away from him, even when he knew that by trying to kill Vi he would hurt Jinx. That is not a good father, but a selfish bastard. I am amazed on how well was Silco designed by the story writers that so many people were fooled in the real life. Just look at the ancient wise saying, "one action say more than 1000 words".
@@aeonsoulstar9066 Have you read the part where I said _"not the best person out there in the multiverse"_ ? (Seriously, what's with people ignoring or twisting what I write this week?? I'm using English, not Korean...) I'm VERY much aware that Silco was a selfish bastard, yes. He was a crime boss + revolutionary out for blood against Piltover; THAT is why I compared him to Black Lagoon characters (i.e. Balalaika, Revy, etc.). But his character and motivations are also far more complex than "just a villain", and the story doesn't go out of its way to say you should agree with him, like a certain manga that insists we agree with and love the guy who slaughtered his entire clan and mind-raped his brother because the village mattered more (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, KISHIMOTO). But he also cared for Jinx, tried to help her out however he could, defended her to Sevika and the Chembarons and rejected the easy solution for his plans because he didn't want to throw her to the dogs. Sociopaths and heartless monsters don't give up their selfish goals for anyone, even their children, and they certainly wouldn't profess loving them after they shot them (wittingly or not). Did he try to kill Vi? Uh, year? Duh? He's one of the villains; his actions aren't supposed to be 100% righteous or justified. He grew up believing you can only count on yourself when you've been betrayed and you need to fight to keep what you have, and he gave Jinx the same notions. Read above: *Roanapur-esque upbringing!* Besides, in that scenario, there was NO solution where Jinx wouldn't get hurt in some way. Jinx was delusional and convinced Vi would abandon her for Caitlyn, Vi trying to convince her only caused her PTSD hallucinations and Silco himself believed Vi would reject Jinx again for not being innoceent Powder anymore, and neither wanted to let Powder/Jinx go. Again, Silco is not the good guy, but it's not like he wanted to hurt Jinx. Not sure what you mean by "tell Jinx the true". What TRUTH are you referring to? Silco wasn't hiding anything from Jinx at that point. What Vi I was trying to do was the "Talk The Monster To Death / I Know You're In There Somewhere" method, which _might_ have worked if Jinx was in a more stable mood and situation where she wasn't paranoiac about Vi, Caitlyn and Silco (especially after her Shimmer acid trip-slash-surgery) and playing "who loves me more, who should get shot".
@@Adam-jn7nc Silco had a deep need for affection, as he too was a victim of a bunch of events that happened on the under-city. Him beeing a villant was just a reflection of his frustration and attempt to fight back. However, the sad part is that he also become a victimizer even to who he became attached to and at a certain point even consider to love. He was willing to do anything to keep Powder close to him, while pushing the Jinx personality away. By that i mean, notice how she behaved as Powder when she was affective with Silco, but she was antisocial Jinx when she was dealing with others. One can say that is an antisocial behavior that Silco induced into Powder to make her believe that... (Music lyric)"Everyone Wants to be my Enemy". Silco had a level of love for Powder, but because he needed her, and he was aware that he wouldnt be willing to let her go away, especially if it was with her old family. So one can say, even when one could call Silco's affection as love, certainly one cant call him an ally, nor someone who wants Powder/Jinx to be happy. That is the point. I wish that at some point in the story, the reversal magic allow saving Powder and Silco, as long as they can also prevent them from hurding others.

You might be right there. I didn´t even thought of that.
I´m pretty sure he also sees parts of his own past with Vandor in her and her relationship to Vi. (Getting betrayed and abbandon by their sibling, fighting them, but still beeing unable to actual hate them)
I can´t quite remember, but I think he even got a flashback to Vendor betraying him, after he picks up Powder in Ep.3
No. She represents everything he loves about HIMSELF.. or wished he was.. in his twisted mind her life is a mirror image reincarnation of the oath taken by him &Vander
He's a power hungry narcissist.. he owned so many uptown officials he could've EASILY wrangled a deal with them before Ironboy came along.. but he instead chose to slowly gut &infest his city &exploit his people..that's because when its all said &done all his lofty ideals are a fraud.. something Vander figured out a LONG time ago (hopefully they'll show exactly why he tried to end him in S2)
Silco just wants to be the big man in charge &to compensate for his feeling of being weak &helpless when he was younger (a trait he ironically shares with Jinx) &will do anything to maintain that. Including prop up his mirror image even if he was turning her I to the worst version of herself over time.
@@unnamed1613 Vander didn't betray him.. he tried to murder him. Drown him in the river like an animal.. it's what "made" the Silco we know in a sense.. that death near death experience shaped alot of who he is &gave him his toxic eye
But considering the type of man Vander is.. there's very few things that could make him do that to anyone let alone a friend.
My feeling is it was justified.. but after that Vander lost his appetite for murder &violence in general (even though he would still defend the helpless &put u in your place if u stepped out of line)
Hopefully they flesh that out.. when he comes back as.... Redacted
Silco needs to come back.

Original jinx from the game wears a bralette and short shorts, which, while an iconic look that highlights how eccentric her style is, it’s not functional for the type of things she does.
Arcane has quite literally taken it as:

-it has to be functional
-she’s still a child so it can’t sexualize her(I believe shes between 16-19)

Given how Jinx suffers from an extreme attachment disorder and effectively transferred her attachment from Vi to Silco after the fire, she probably didn’t have much of a rebel phase with him. She would do anything she could to make sure he wouldn’t abandon her like Vi. Her biggest issue growing up would be her untreated PTSD and (possibly) schizophrenia, which would make her manic and inconsolable at times. not a LoL fan but oh boy, if Riot Games introduce a Multiverse or Parallel Universe somewhere in the lore, that could be a great hypothesis
Only Jinx could ignore Silco to her OWN theme song. And then be super perky when he interrupts her.
Jinx vibing to “Get Jinxed” is gold
This implies she actualy sang/recorded that herself.
I also would´ve loved it if they added a scene of her humming Vi´s theme at some point, like she does in-game.
That "I'm a helpless little girl, and I set the building on fire, by accident totally by accident." Is my favorite, the way that the voice recording distorts and how it could tye to when she was little and blew up a building accidentally killing her friends
I think the warping symbolizes how corrupted she’s gotten since
It's strange but in the Season 2 announcement vid, we hear Jinx say, "I'm glad it's you." Then, in the same voice distortion kicks in and she says, "I had to be you." Is she giving up, or just faking them out again?
It reminds me of that one scene from _Saga of Tanya the Evil_ when she uses her childish voice to basically trick people.

Oooooh that makes sense yeah, she’s crazy but she’s also smart so her delusions from trust issues definitely informed that action
I think the same, with this jinx he will fall into total madness, he will not have a happy ending, Powder k1ll asilco, Jinx will eliminate the happy ending for Powder.

With enough magic meth aka shimmer, anything is liftable.

THE CUTTEST "HI" I'VE EVER SEEN, RIGHT BEFORE BLOW THE SHIT OUT OF THE SHIP
Definitely had death of the family vibes from the dinner table scene
when she says "look who it is, the boy savior" she sounds like a little kid which really makes sense since she is so unstable.
"I'm CRAZY... Got a doctors note."
That would have been a hilarious detail/easter egg if Singed actualy gave her one after he operated her.
_Or perhaps you're sane in a crazy world?_

@@aeonsoulstar9066 nope, he tries to shoot Vi since she unintentionaly hurting Jinx
@@aeonsoulstar9066
Have you read the part where I said _"not the best person out there in the multiverse"_ ? (Seriously, what's with people ignoring or twisting what I write this week?? I'm using English, not Korean...)
I'm VERY much aware that Silco was a selfish bastard, yes.
Read above: *Roanapur-esque upbringing!*
Besides, in that scenario, there was NO solution where Jinx wouldn't get hurt in some way.
You can say Silco didn't want her to get hurt so much that he wasn't angry when she killed him ( rare for a villan )

My heart just breaks and mourns for jinx, seeing how she turned out and how it was just no ones fault, no one knew and they were children- gosh, i wish Vi fought for her more at the dinner table she barely fought she just said a couple almost convincing things
edit: good points in the replies by the way, just another thing that bothers me is that Vi could've done something else when it came to Caitlyn and Jinx in the same scenes, of course its very unpredictable, how Jinx would react but it bothered me how Vi was more willing to save Cait rather than her own sister in a sense, it makes sense!! it just sucks that it does
I think she needed to talk less. She was tryna help but wasn’t helping 💀
Because Vi doesn’t care about Jinx, anymore. Or Zaun for that matter, after she met Caitlyn. She’s a top sider now
@@confusedwhiteman7776 I don’t think that’s entirely true. She cares a lot about Caitlyn, sure. However she couldn’t care less about topside. Why would she?
@@MigjolVanMjol if you play league at all, you find out that she becomes an enforcer for Piltover and works with Caitlyn
Right?? I was like please just say something. Like tell her that she could escape that prison with caitlyn and that she only went with her because she saw jinx’s paintings :(((
my fav character, also her bopping to "get jinxed" is me bopping to "get jinxed"
Jinx is actually menace for saying "got off on the wrong arm," considering the fact shes the one that blew it off
1:19 the hair movement is so beautiful here
1:10 That face was 10/10. Same with Vi showing Mylo the face that means to shut up.
I. LOVE. THIS. Jinx is so adorable, it makes me want to wish she was real so I could hug her.
Same. She's so damaged but so cute at the same time
Would it still be cute if it was a fat guy with psychosis?

Either the luckiest or unluckiest bartender in town.
The perfect amount of craziness people would love! The way she was written was superb! From the facial expression upto her voice is increadible! And and hear me out, jinx is actually really intellegent, like she harnessed the hextech without any background knowledge! Crazy and chaotic, but also just a kid who needs love and have abandonment issues.
I thought Vi would be my favourite but as soon as Jinx was revealed i was obsessed
Fit's jinx's character perfectly
1:23 dang you can really see the crazy in her eyes right here . . . they’re just so wide and empty
3:27 that scene was so well done! I legit in that moment felt what Vi was feeling.
Whos watching some videos again of Ella after watching her in Fallout
The voice actor for vulpes inculta from new Vegas is in arcane too
If Harley Quinn and The Joker ever had a daughter, it'd be Jinx
1:19 Background music so good here at this scene makes it feel accurately in suspense as the hair in the moment. Nice capture
what the name of the music used in there?
@@TNT9571 In description - Ava Max - Sweet but Psycho (Instrumental)
2:10 dude, I like scenes like this, like Sevhika was Vi's boss battle, but here Jinx basically bullies her, not because of Silco's favor, but out of her own might, just shows that Silco didn't keep her ONLY because she saw her as a daughter/kindred spirit (no pun intented)
and the vids has "sweet but psycho" in the background. Nice
alternative title: Jinx causing problems for silco for 4 minutes straight.
the fact that she is voiced by purnell is to good
i love her, cant get enough lol
