These sort of videos are seriously important in the whiskey world. What you’re learning and doing and sharing in regards to videos like this will impact so many more whiskey enthusiasts in ways that nothing else will. Please keep doing stuff like this and sharing your distillery journey with us because in many more ways than one you’re becoming the most important whiskey tuber out there. And I think it’ll drive your success beyond what you’ve imagined or lived so far. Best of luck to everything going forward TJ. Thank you.
I think he just gave all the other whiskey corporations their new idea he is far advanced and don’t forget that wood hat that is a signature and I want one
Well I'm in Indiana and have never seen this on the shelf BUT now I have own all of them. I'm surrounded by corn and yet thrilled to hear his take on growing not what yields best but what tastes best. What a concept! Thanks for sharing such an awesome people and place.
Gary is an absolute gem. We visit twice a year just to see what he’s been up to. Our last trip we got honey finished in one of Wood Hat whiskey barrels 💕
Gary is treasure. I’ve met him multiple times and it’s always amazing to just listen to him and his knowledge. It was really awesome when I got to wear his wood hat.
If you live near St. Louis, the Orange Flint he mentioned is available at the ABV Shop in Arnold. They specialize in single barrel picks and often have Wood Hat Spirits in stock. Gary is a living legend!!!
Absolutely the best knowledgeable Craft Distiller....His knowledge of corn is exceptional....need his advise and a great farmer planting many rows of the blue corn, seems that would be a new ticket that could make some exceptional liquor, but there again who knows
I stopped by this distillery on my way back from Omaha, NE. Just happened up on it but they do make great juice and for just a couple dollars you can try different bottles so you know what you are buying before you make the purchase. Great video!
i think that was my favorite video, its a toss up between a couple craft distillers but that man is right on so many counts. His passion, knowledge, and dedication are amazing. it would be something to see more craft distillers take a page from his book, if not a book from his library of knowledge.
Thanks for introducing us to this amazing distillery. Love the content!!! one of your best videos. Loved your Dettling one as well. These craft distillers are amazing. Can't wait to see what you do with your distillery.
Please check out Whiskey Acres in Illinois! They also use heirloom grains and are breeding their own corns to distill, they make my favorite bloody butcher I've had too
love this nerdy stuff! and totally get what hes saying, and just look at the craft beer market as well, theyve been experimenting with hops for a couple years, and now hops farms have popped up all over my area (Michigan and we love our craft beer) so im sure the same will come with whiskey, it just takes more time to figure out whats good and guys like this are doing seriously amazing work moving whiskey forward
this is probably one of my favorite videos you have done i would love to see more like this that speaks to craft distillers that are trying different things. would love to see more just like this!!
I’m loving their BiB and 10 year hazmat that they did in August. Their whiskies have surprised me with how good they are. They are different but good. I love that they called out everybody else in the industry for not using the right corn.
Favorite episode ever!! Shout out to moco, and the players doin it right, thanks for making a special product-no hangover is proof of its higher quality... This is the evolution of Brewzle! Thank you🎅
Great Northern in WI has used a combination toast + char oak barrel since day one as well - and was using all ten and thirty gallon cooperage at their original location. They might have opened the year after Wood Hat... I found a wheated Bloody Butcher single barrel Bourbon last year that tasted like 'Buffalo Trace Cask Strength' (BBC distilled/ bottled by Buffalo Chip) - was one of the fastest selling 53gal sourced barrels I've ever picked! Great video. Cheers
Learning and getting to hear how those gents look at whiskey, and the corn makes you realize how important it is. It’s really amazing actually. The knowledge about everything was cool to see. Love these types of videos. God Bless yall
look up Fish Hawk Spirits in Ocala Florida. Craft distillery, They also grow their own corn called "Silver Queen" they make a bunch of different whiskeys from sourced corn locally as well, the Sui Generis line. This video is Very cool. Thank you for sharing Wood Hat will be on my list
Brewzle & the B Team. Do the magic you do and get these fellas the help they need to be able to sustain there business to produce these craft liquors! Awesome Video!
Great video showcasing a unique master distiller and farmer. I’d love to try some of his older single barrels. I own a few and am a fan but think his whiskey’s potential is far greater than what I’ve tasted thus far, just needs more time in the barrel.
TJ, thanks for this video. I love their dedication to making good whiskey. They know what they want to do, know how to do it, and do it! I will be getting some Wood Hat!
Thank you for sharing this video. There is a young farmer in central Missouri know as the popcorn farmer ( Gavin Spoor) . He is on several different social media platforms. He would be a good contact for bulk popcorn.
This was awesome, I love the idea of using good eatable corn. The only other distillery that I have heard of doing something like that is the master distiller from Firestone and Robertson.
I'm only at 22:22 but I haven't heard anything about the purple corn yet. The best whiskey I tried at Wood Hat's 10 year celebration was the orange corn, but the best initial nose and palate was purple corn. Purple corn had a birthday cake nose to it, the only problem was the lack of finish. If they blend that purple corn with some other corn to add a finish - or they age it about 7 years I think they'll have a smash hit.
You really need to check out Iron Root and what they do around corn varieties and their relationships with the local farmers. This is an awesome video. Thank you.
Wow, just wow, I totally enjoyed every minute of this video, I have not been watching a real long time, but this was the most interesting video yet. Thanks.
This is a fascinating episode. He is indeed a mad scientist. I gotta get some of this whiskey. I’m in KY, but I guess I need to go hunting in Indiana or drive to Missouri.
Well... you can also just visit Gary at Wood Hat. The guy is pretty chill for being 80. Missouri Distilleries are all pretty cool about letting you really get behind the scenes and learning how they operate. The whiskey at Woodhat will not match the palate of most bourbon drinkers. It's very unique, like Dettling. But, for enthusiasts I think some of the finest craft whiskey is coming out of Missouri. People know about Ben Holladay, which is owned by a big company, and is maybe the 3rd best distiller in the state. Nobleton's is a clear #1, and if you enjoy finely crafted but unique bourbon, Wood Hat is my #2. Nobleton's and Wood Hat both do things the right way, even if it's less efficient. Gary is the kind of guy who would his grain have more impact than his barrel... just too bad he uses so many tiny barrels in a cargo container. His 10 year stuff that was in a 53 gallon... that's some magical stuff.
#2 Best video you’ve done next the The Seth Detling video. How much of how they are running their business and how it tastes do you want you whiskey and business to be like ???

This just may be my favorite vid you’ve ever put out! I could listen to that fella talk about corn for hours. 👍
That old man is cool as shit lol
I think he just gave all the other whiskey corporations their new idea he is far advanced and don’t forget that wood hat that is a signature and I want one
When he said “this is my government laundered rickhouse” 🤣
I didn't want this video to end. So fun and interesting.
Well I'm in Indiana and have never seen this on the shelf BUT now I have own all of them. I'm surrounded by corn and yet thrilled to hear his take on growing not what yields best but what tastes best. What a concept! Thanks for sharing such an awesome people and place.
I wonder if it’s certain parts of Indiana. I’m in southern Indiana and haven’t seen it.
Hands down my favorite Brewzle video! Great lesson for the enthusiasts.
Obviously, he knows what he is doing, and it's working just as he's planned!
I love his dedication to principle, Make good whiskey....period.
Gary is an absolute gem. We visit twice a year just to see what he’s been up to. Our last trip we got honey finished in one of Wood Hat whiskey barrels 💕
Did you just spoon it in your mouth on the drive home?
@ nope it’s in a cute WoodHat glass bottle
Respect to the old timer and his crew for making things the way they should be done.
A producer like this is a treasure passion for the product
By far one of my favorite videos from you! I will be making a special trip out to Wood Hat Spirits!
Gary is treasure. I’ve met him multiple times and it’s always amazing to just listen to him and his knowledge. It was really awesome when I got to wear his wood hat.
This guy is a national treasure! Awesome operation.
One of your best ever long format videos.
If you live near St. Louis, the Orange Flint he mentioned is available at the ABV Shop in Arnold. They specialize in single barrel picks and often have Wood Hat Spirits in stock. Gary is a living legend!!!
He stopped by ABV in the St. Louis hunt. Think he bought the dark arts honey pick
No matter what comes out of this kind of commitment to quality is good, you can't not support such passion, those hats alone sold me
Love this channel, such diverse content and always entertaining.
Respect to one of the only true distilleries that don't BS you with lies
What lies?
Absolutely the best knowledgeable Craft Distiller....His knowledge of corn is exceptional....need his advise and a great farmer planting many rows of the blue corn, seems that would be a new ticket that could make some exceptional liquor, but there again who knows
Guys a mad scientist!!
Awesome dude, I’m about to buy 3 or 4 bottles from their website! Heck yeah
This is definitely one of your best videos all time! Cheers!
Literally some of the most interesting, hard working, genuine people and that comes through on the video
I stopped by this distillery on my way back from Omaha, NE. Just happened up on it but they do make great juice and for just a couple dollars you can try different bottles so you know what you are buying before you make the purchase. Great video!

One of my favorite videos you’ve done
One of your best videos yet. I was glued the entire time
14:10 look at that beauty of a Spud Truck! The MORR team would be champing at the bit to get that truck in their fleet.
The way that ge explained all the different corn tyoes. Detail, no wonder they are doing so well.
Thanks for introducing us to this amazing distillery. Love the content!!! one of your best videos. Loved your Dettling one as well. These craft distillers are amazing. Can't wait to see what you do with your distillery.
Please check out Whiskey Acres in Illinois! They also use heirloom grains and are breeding their own corns to distill, they make my favorite bloody butcher I've had too
Second Whiskey Acres, last time I was there I believe they were working on creating a bourbon from their genetically crossing various corns
I recently purchased two bottles of the bloody Butcher and it was fantastic.
I agree with so many comments. This is one of your better videos. But I love all of your videos.
No hate to brewzle but this has been my favorite video on the channel. So interesting
Love this old man...very smart..Love the video!

Your distillery tours are some of my favorite videos
Favorite episode ever!! Shout out to moco, and the players doin it right, thanks for making a special product-no hangover is proof of its higher quality... This is the evolution of Brewzle! Thank you🎅
I need more nerdy like this! This to me is how you pick great craft distilleries to try.

These two guys are crazy in the best way. They should do a collab with Frey Ranch!
I think this was one of your best videos. Truly enjoyed every minute of it. Learned a lot.
I absolutely love this man’s take on the alcohols contact with plastic. I need to try their product.
I love this guy! Great process can only produce great juice.
Gary is the best!
I just ordered two bottles from them. Anxious to try them
This is American ingenuity and the American dream together. Tech bros got nothing on these guys!
Old timer is an absolute mad scientist and I love it!
The amount of knowledge this man has is ridiculous! Will definitely visit next time I’m there.
Brewzle & the B Team. Do the magic you do and get these fellas the help they need to be able to sustain there business to produce these craft liquors! Awesome Video!
This was an awesome video. It made me go to their website and buy a bottle of bloody butcher
Love the water being the only thing they own, so thats all they can talk about....lol
Everything he said makes total and complete sense. 🥃
Great video showcasing a unique master distiller and farmer. I’d love to try some of his older single barrels. I own a few and am a fan but think his whiskey’s potential is far greater than what I’ve tasted thus far, just needs more time in the barrel.
That dude is cool as hell . I really like how has he has thought through all of his process
Best brewzle video I’ve watched so far. Great stuff!!!

I would love a bottle of this man's whiskey!
Thank you for sharing this video.

Fantastic video! Glad he's in my back yard, so to say.
Best @Brewzle video yet!!
I love these types of videos
The knowledge possessed by this old man is IMMENSE!!!
Very cool video, it makes sense that different corn would have an impact on taste.. That fella sure sounded like he knew what he was talking about 👍🏻
Great video. I could listen to this kinda stuff for hours
This was such a cool video to watch and learn about the different corns and flavours.
Amazing guy and another banger video brewzle!
I couldn’t wait to get off the farm in 1974 and I never looked back. After watching this gentleman I’d love to go back.
Try Balcones True Blue 100 proof. Made in TX with blue corn, pretty good.
Baby Blue was one of the first whiskey's I had and got me into bourbon
Great episode
Man. Really enjoyed this video. Very informative and just entertaining. Great work.
Coolest old man ever! This is exactly the type of shit I love about Whiskey!
Love this old man, great video. I will buy some of his whiskey and I love his insight!
Fascinating TJ, another great Vid !
Awesome stuff. So much info from those guys. More please 🧡
You really need to check out Iron Root and what they do around corn varieties and their relationships with the local farmers. This is an awesome video. Thank you.
This man is a treasure and must be protected at all costs. Buying a bottle in NJ when I find one!
Wow, just wow, I totally enjoyed every minute of this video, I have not been watching a real long time, but this was the most interesting video yet. Thanks.

That was freakin AWESOME - if only i could physically tag along with TJ on these adventures into magical whiskey lands 😂👏👏👏

#2 Best video you’ve done next the The Seth Detling video. How much of how they are running their business and how it tastes do you want you whiskey and business to be like ???
This was a great video but, I'm a little partial to Missouri. Love their stuff.
Love to try the white shoe peg whiskey. Definitely my favorite eating corn.
