Hiya guys, the channel has come on in leaps & bounds recently 😀. The filming and editing is as deft as the trowel work 👍👍. Really enjoy what you do and I'm amazed at how you manage to do all the filming, editing, tool manufacturing etc. Really cracking job 👏 Hope you have a great weekend 😊 Regards Tim
Tim Margereson . Thanks very much Tim it’s nice that you notice the changes , they took so long to get right and many hours go into the editing . Being on lockdown is a big help too . As for the tongs jeez they are taking so long , lm prepping 20 pairs which means 200 pieces of steel ! I have a few ideas to simplify the process otherwise it’s not worth all the time and effort 😬🧱👍🏼
Looking very smart Steve, well done mate. If there's one job i hate its jointing up brick on edge, seems to drag on. Garden looking much better with the overboarding on the fencing. Keep up the good work fellas.
Great video once again gents!! Just noticed the top two links for your GoPro and GoPro Shorty are identical (only noticed as I went to use the Shorty link).
Any reason why you did a 3ft fence and not a standard 6ft fence like the other side of your garden? Excellent work lads! Oooo look forward to how you did the step. 👍👍👍🍺
james swain Friday 6.45 pm for the Step 😉. The two neighbours decided between them that they preferred the 3 foot fence. It will never blow down , those posts still go down 2 ft ! 💪🏽🧱👍🏼
Steve Just a couple of questions what were you trying to achieve with the membrane ? and the Brick on edge looked to soft and prone to freezing damage?
The wall looks really nice what you and alex have built my dad says you have done a really great job both of you but I have just one question for alex can you take you own trowel to college? And maybe can you do a 5 minute video on a few tips for when I got to college this september and do bricklaying. Keep the great work up 🧱🧱👍thanks sam.
Sam Price . Thanks Sam . When I was at college we took our own trowels as theirs were rubbish . Alex didn’t bother to take his as the college ones were ok 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Nice vid, brick on edge looks very nice 👍🏻. Quick question about the mix, yours always looks smooth and creamy, Is it the plasticiser you’re using? I’ve been using opti build or something always comes out well to start with then becomes very Sandy. Standard 4:1 mix.
Liam G Thanks Liam . I think it’s just down to your sand , our mix may look good but it’s awful stuff , very sticky and awful to mix . We wish it was as good as it looks 🙄😂🧱👍🏼
I had noticed the same thing. I recently brought a belle 150 cement mixer. My muck now comes out buttery smooth compared to previously mixing up in a wheelbarrow. Using b and q mortar plastersizer. Although nearly run out and have a bottle of everbuild opti mix plastersizer ready to switch over too. Since getting and using my mixer to mix the muck compared to the wheelbarrow, I have noticed night and day difference. How are you mixing your muck by hand or cement mixer?
Nicely done. Do you guys ever use glues/sealants for brick-on-edge coping? I wonder how the lifetime compares to mortar (which usually dies eventually in this application).
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Fair enough. I see glues creeping in for some things (e.g.: block walls: ruclips.net/video/aUOWTPpVV-4/видео.html for blocks and these chaps doing coping stones: ruclips.net/video/aUOWTPpVV-4/видео.html). I was wondering how widespread that was. Do you add a bit of SBR to make sure the mortar grabs, or just stick with plain mortar?
Nice work! In a couple a weeks I'm going to start a garden wall and I I have a quick question. Why did you put concrete blocks and not two rows of bricks on the long wall? Ty
Blocks are generally put into walls for speed and to save on face bricks . 1 upright block = 2 flat = 3 course of brick. Good luck with your wall pal 😉🧱👍🏼
Marcus Hi Marcus we use I movie for editing . It’s a free app for i phone , I pad and Mac 💻 . I started on an I pad and ended up on a Mac when I got one for my 50th 👍🏼. Thanks very much for checking out our links , your the first we know of . Much appreciated 🙏🧱👍🏼
I assume the ground level in front of the steps, will be higher when finished?.................I also thought that was all one house, and wondered why you would be putting a 3 foot fence in the middle of your garden 😂 👍
I'm planning to do a soldier course along the inside of an (20cm tall) I-beam (7m long). Any tips/recommendations? Start in middle and work towards? Thanks. Looking forward to the vid this evening.
Wayne L. Woah that’s a difficult one to tackle ! I’m not sure how you would fit the bricks into the 18 cm gap . Always work one end to another. Good luck with it though 😬🧱👍🏽
Squeeze out nearest camera was driving me nuts. lol. (at beginning of row) And every time you troweled that side you just missed it! Now to see it finished tho!
My only criticism of you two and I might be wrong, did I hear Jeremy " ladyboy " Vine on the radio. Hopefully the dial was accidentally moved chaps. Not the station of choice for a couple of tough, northern, working class tradesmen of high skill and graft.
wearederbysuperams . It’s become our little channel thing where all the regulars get together for a chat while we all watch together . We get between 60 and 150 tuning in 🧱👍🏽

Very nicely done...Does anyone out there know if I can use bricks with a frog for cappng a double skin garden wall?
Thanks I always prefer engineering bricks for boe . If the frog bricks are London brick absolutely not ! 😱🧱👍🏽

hi guys neat brickwork as always why put sand down the back n not gravel to let water soak away stay safe guys
Cheers Mick . It’s was 10 mm limestone / grit mix left over from the concreting but not much sand in it 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
Love the work. I'm doing a wall for the back yard to have a go at myself. Two breeze blocks high, what sort of depth footing would you put in for it?
davehart 100 mm thick should be ample . Good luck with your walls🧱👍🏽
Are those bricks different sizes....?...seemed like it on the end of the wall...seconds?
Stuart Nagle . The solids are always too big in length and depth but still look better than 3 holes bunged up with gobbo 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
Steve Just a couple of questions what were you trying to achieve with the membrane ? and the Brick on edge looked to soft and prone to freezing damage?
richies quest The membrane is to stop the back of the wall getting saturated . The customer wanted the BOE to match
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Do you always use a membrane on retaining walls if so have you noticed the benefits.
richies quest . Not generally I just thought as this was clay and sloping towards the wall we would give it a bit of protection 💪🏼🧱👍🏽
Alex I hope the old man's paying you full rate for working at home 😂. Keep the good work up boys 💪
Ah ha , we ain’t at home 😉😂👍🏼🧱

james swain Always a mixer if we can . The reason it’s better is because the plasticiser traps air and the mixer is far better than hand mixing 👌🏼🧱👍🏼
james swain I’ve been hand mixing at the minute, got a mixer which is useless, might have to invest in a good one 🤣
