Seen here is New Flyer XDE60 "Xcelsior" Hybrid Artic 1294 operating on the SL2 to Drydock making its way in and out of Courthouse Station.
This XDE60 in particular is the only one in the MBTA system to have the capability to operate in battery-only mode. If all testing goes well, they'll order these buses to replace the rest of the Neoplan artics left in service, since they can operate without catenaries, and can switch between battery and diesel modes once they are out of the tunnel.

I love how 1294 and the 1300’s got L9’s but the others got isl9. Nice pick for Mbta since I like both.
Because the L9 designation came after the first batch of 1200-series XDE60s.

The Silver Line is Now Comprised of the SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4, and SL5
Perfect replacement for AN460 Trolleybus are XT60 since they can use diesel or battery mode for I-90 NYS Thruway and Mass Pike Tunnel
Unless the MBTA order XE60s instead
The MBTA will get rid of the overhead wires for the Silver Line.

For the Silver Line, no more trackless. I'm not sure about their 71 and 73 routes, which runs trackless 40ft Neoplans as well.
