I am a native of Ibaloi tribe (one of the subtribes of Igorot in the Cordillera Region) from the municipality of Kabayan. It is also considered as the cradle of civilization of all Ibalois weather they are Inontog Ibaloi, Ipasdong Ibaloi or Iowak ibaloi (subtribes again of Ibalois). Kabayan is the only town/municipality that practiced Bendian not in the entire province of Benguet. The Bendian dance signified successful head hunting or battle against the opposing tribe. The center of the circle is adorned with an erected spear with the blade upwards and the heads of the killed members of the opposing tribe. Fresh blood was allowed to flow to the ground while the elders or mambunong (Igorot medicine man/high priest) were killing pigs by stabbing the animal in the heart with a wooden stick that squeals can be heard then the entire animal was burned to remove the hairs/fur then cut into large chunks and boiled without spices. The method of cooking was/is called bat-bat that was distributed in the entire village. Men shoul encircle the center spear in clockwise manner and the women are on the inner circle in a counter clockwise manner. The leader of the men shouts the proper movements like "kinikian", Inoschungang,...etc. This presentation is wrong and inacurate!!!
