    Great comparison...As you said given the features of these two drones I think price and weight (i.e., being under 250grams) are the most important considerations. In the USA if you to look at the total price of the Fly More combo (w/taxes of 7.75%) with DJI Care Refresh for both drones...You'll see that the DJI Mini 2 price comes in ($694) versus the Mavic Air 2 ($1,143). And that is a whopping $450 difference...that's quite a big difference. Also in the USA once the RemoteID goes into "full effect" you will have to pay MONTHLY fees to the USS's just to be able to fly any drone over 249grams...those monthly fees are still TBD...and even if they do start off as modest fees I believe they will continue to increase over time. And of course you don't have to pay registration fees for the Mini 2 ($5/yr) unless you are a part 107 pilot. I'm not sure if the sub 250g drone pilots will be required to take a pilots test...or if there will there be a fee to take that test? My point is that the Mini 2 is significantly less expensive upfront than the Mavic Air 2 out of the box and also potentially much cheaper in the longer run with RemoteID monthly flight fees. Just Something to consider.
    Clearly the Mavic Air 2 is a much better drone than the Mini 2 but is it worth the extra costs? The features I think most pilots would miss the most if they went with the Mini 2 is the Spotlight /Point of Interest modes enabled by the Active Track capability in the Mavic Air 2. The Spotlight feature makes getting somewhat challenging shots so much easier (e.g., filming a moving object and rotating around that object).

    The range is the same, the flight time is almost the same. They both handle wind the same.
    The advantage with the mini; Less than 250 grams, cheaper, smaller.
    The MA2 has obstacle avoidance, 4k 60fps video, video zoom, better camera sensor, slightly longer flight time, slightly faster. That's the main differences.

    If you can afford it you should buy both the mini 2 and Mavic air 2. The mini 2 gives you ultimate in convenience and avoids over 250g regulatory hassles. . Meanwhile the mavic air 2 has the better camera/video, is more stable in wind, has obstacle avoidance sensors/follow me/tracking. And most important the ASTEROID quickshot.

  • @maximumdrone5334
    @maximumdrone5334 3 года назад +1

    I wouldn't say it's a fair comparison since one can withstand greater winds speeds (Mavic Air 2) and the other one can't. It's the biggest let down I would say + the inability to film in D-Cinelike for the Mini 2...I'm loving my Mavic Air 2 and keeping it unil Mavic Pro 3 comes out :)

    I think both drones are very good and it depends on what you are after.
    The Air 2 has got a few more flight modes like focus track (spotlight and active track), HDR, hyperlapse, slow motion and asteroid quickshot as well as more frames per second in 4k, 2.7k and 1080p. It also has a slightly longer flight time, more stable in the air due to its weight, more photo options including 48MP and a better video transmission 1080p. It is also easier to change propellers, but i think no one would change propellers unless its broken.
    The mini 2 is is lighter, easier to carry, better satellite connection, chargeable by powerbank and much quieter than the air.
    As for the sensor, although it is all the time said that the air 2 has 0.5 inches sensor, the mini is not far behind at 0.43 inches sensor.
    By and large, i think if someone is willing to pay double than the mini 2 for more flight options, slightly better video transmission and quality then go for it. Otherwise, i think the mini 2 suffice most needs, unless you are a professional then go straight to pro 2.

    • @linacioYT

      I am a beginner and I can afford the Air 2 however, with the new regulations, even if it could receive retrospective CE class marking, it will always be necessary an A2 CofC to fly it. And remember that MA2 and any other drone lacking a CE classification will fall under the legacy rule in 2023 and would need to be flown in the A3 subcategory, far from people. The Mini 2 will always be a rule beat even after 2023. But I am holding the buy button for three weeks (Mini 2 vs Air 2) because the Mini 2 does not have things like HDR, ActiveTrack and the sensors.
