    Good comparison, been looking at an upgrade for my trusty HD-600 but I'm still evaluating the mid tier market as well, a lot of engineers swear about the HiFiMan Sundara, it's "updated" heir HiFiMan Edition XS and the new Audeze MM-100, would love more headphone takeaways from your perspective.
    Thanks for your work!

    That was a very helpful video, Matty thanks a lot! The problem is I can unfortunetely only afford to LCD-X, so do you think EQ'ing them close to MM500 also would work ?? I'm mostly mixing & mastering two very different genres,; electronic music and metal...
    Thanks in advance!

    I think both are great and just people think the MM500 are better for mixing because are a "Mixer Signature Headphone" and that give them reassurance, but as any headphone here we don't have the acoustic playing into the equation and really does not matter so much the curve of your headphone as long the quality and clarity that they reproduce is great and you KNOW how they sound and how to make them translate.... some people even go re-calibrating their headphones to a Harman Curve, thing I found unnecessary as you also need to know how to make them translate as with ANY other curve.

      4 months late but I coincidentally tested out the MM-500 vs the Focal Clears today. There's no X's on display in Denver anywhere unfortunately. Anyways it was close, but I definitely leaned towards the MM's hands down. I just wish I can side by side the MM-500's vs the X's

    Which amp would you recommend for audeze lcd x to use with apollo twin x sound card?

    • @mixedbymatty
      @mixedbymatty  5 месяцев назад

      They don’t need a whole lot of power. I’m sure the apollo is enough.

    • @manykzdj792
      @manykzdj792 5 месяцев назад

      @mixedbymatty thanks for reply, but it's not about the power, recently I saw a video of a producer saying that most sound cards including apollo doesn't have very good mic Preamps in them as their speaker output Preamps, so i started searching about this topic and find out that many mixing engineers buying separate headphone amp to get more detailed sound and wider sound stage plus crossfeed function

      For my lcd-x I've bought 2 weeks ago Burson playmate 2, ealier it was ifi zen dac. The difference isn't huge but I feel that all limitations gone. The sound is more liquid, softer and at the same time more powerful with reacher timbre. I hear more air between instruments. It's great combo. I use upgrated version with V6 vivid oppamps.

    you can get lcsdx used for half the price of mm 500.... that turns it a better buy right away i think... in terms of enjoying ii think lcdx is clear winner of the 2. most audiophile reviewers prefer lcdx they say, they say the only downside fir mixing on lcdx can be slightly more overpowering low end compared to mm 500... actually i had some time with mm500 now, lcdx can be eqed to sound better for mixig and as a value second hand bought it just beats mm500. but if you got the money mm500 works better for mixing generally i think. there is more details here maybe it's because its using some of the tech on lcd5...
