Mandy getting spooked by the notification sounds will never not be funny to me. Bless this man, for he is a dork. Thank you, Doucare, for always being a gamer and uploading the vods.
Mandalore: I'll try to be sneaky this time. See how long it'll take. Also Mandalore: - running everywhere making sounds, no collecting enough lizards to remain stealthy, making fires and chopping trees in the middle of the night -
Man it's funny rewatching this and seeing all the little things he says that make me raise an eyebrow >Oh we crashed by the village? Oh that actually fucking sucks. The village is literally the best place in the game to crash because the cannibals aren't there on the first day so you can loot it for tons of cloth, soda, and dynamite. And it's a quick hike from there to the Fertile Lands.
@@LN997-i8x That's why you land, raid the village for all its stuff, then book it for the Fertile Lands and the cannibals will never know what happened
This stream and his review got me to buy the game. In the week and a half since I got it I've put about 25 hours into the game and beat it, and while I can say the game is a blast and nowhere near as buggy as he claims, I will say if there's only thing he was incorrect on, it's the intelligence of the AI. It's far easier to trick than he lets on, you can manipulate how they act to ridiculous degrees and there are certain places you can build your base (like the Fertile Lands) where they won't find you for months if you avoid their patrols while exploring.
@@Rezalon0195 I just made a save right before going in and got both endings one after the other. Man the true ending just....those graphics and voice acting does not hold up. Was nice to find out your character's name though (Eric LeBlanc)
@@SeruraRenge11 I mean things were looking pretty good but then you know pandemic delays, I'm actually going to give them a huge break here. Hopefully the next one won't be as glitchy
I played this game co-op with my friend off and on through early access patches. Without reading the patches. Seeing the first body horror abomination bumble around 30m from our camp froze us in our place. We spent a good 20 seconds looking at it, not understanding what we were seeing. Cannibals, sure. Body horror and murder, okay. But the eldritch monsters suddenly appearing was a complete surprise.
Even tho this game ain't really polished, gotta say the 3 hours if in game time i have where the most tense and nerve racking i've had in a while, only second place to Alien Isolation
i did not get the AI interaction experience at all. first time a group of locals did a pass on me first one that got close i murdered and it just went from there. wish i knew you could kinda co-exist with them b4 my first run.
You can up to a point They'll always come after you though, and it seems completely randomised at game start whether they are immediately hostile or will wait even until you butcher a village before they start their war
smart of him to replay old video projects but stream them this time that what i would do after finishing a review and uploading it immediately stream few hours or days afterwards there few flaws with that approach but for viewers experience its beneficial
Never played this game but found the premise interesting. What i dont find interesting, though, is how ineffective the axe is. A single good chop would leave a person crippled or dead. I dont care if theyre a cannibal or your neighbor - a chop would leave them incapacitated. Here you swing, swing and swing some more to next to no avail. The hell? Another thing is the reaction of enemies to damage. This ties directly to the rest of my comment, but excruciating pain has a tendency of leaving people lying on the ground, screaming. Not doing a pirouette and coming right back at you. **long sigh** Guess the devs tried too hard to make the game unbearable...
When you jump on a REAL turtle, I think you'll find they don't just comically jump back into their shell, and you CERTAINLY can't whimsically bowl them toward their friends. **Sigh...** Guess the devs tried TOO hard to make the game unbearable...
It depends on the type of person fighting and how they react to adrenaline. To most people who are unfamiliar to violence it's nauseating and will induce a flight type response, which gives off the idea that they are extremely fragile. But experienced warrior types will attest that adrenaline can make someone act inhuman to pain and you really have to do everything to put them down. I'm sure you've heard stories of men being shot and stabbed multiple times and still managed to stand or keep fighting.
I love this game but the enemy balance is ridiculous on hard survival. They one hit through all your armor and take ridiculous amounts of damage to kill. I would have loved more difficult survival so that’s it’s not so easy to get food/water but also enemies that would die more easily. It shouldn’t take 37 stabs from my spear to kill a blue mutant
I never play this game with destructible buildings. It is ridiculous that the mutants can break them so easily and just knock down a trees in a single swing. Realistically, even the large mutants wouldn’t be that strong so to me it’s just really annoying

Beginning of the stream: "I'm gonna see how long I can lie low"
2:02:14: _"They took all my food!_ Oh, those fuckers... Okay, I'm staying."
I appreciate you cataloguing these VODs, they're wonderful gems to watch and rewatch.
53:05 for the full “people jerky” story
The greatest story ever told
"Yeah they're basically wood elf players, which is why they're covered in filth"
"I guess I'm just not an expert on how to beat up a horse..." Might be my new favorite Mandy quote
2:26:08 Mandy accidentally drinks from the piss bottle
"I have been a good boy"
_-Mandalore, just minutes after killing one of the locals and burning the body in front of their friends_
The worst part about defending a campfire at night from cannibals?
They can see you, you can't see them.

Simply build a ring of fires around yourself and stand in the dark center, check mate cannibals

The village is literally the best place in the game to crash because the cannibals aren't there on the first day so you can loot it for tons of cloth, soda, and dynamite. And it's a quick hike from there to the Fertile Lands.
The problem being that if you cut down a tree anywhere near the village you'll be overrun by cannibals within a day.

They found a good balance between realism and fantasy with the combat. It's heavy and brutal enough to be fun but still daunting.
