    Why do you use only the French name ('Bruxelles') of this officially bilingual (French-Dutch) city?

    • @thedrivingchannel2341
      @thedrivingchannel2341  Год назад +4

      It's the most popular name of the city I have seen so far. I've yet to see a popular dutch naming of the city.

      @@thedrivingchannel2341it's officially bilingual so popularity is of no concern in this very delicate subject.

      @@yoops66 De enige vorm van haat bestaat hier uit jouw reactie. De stad heeft twee officiële benamingen en is eigenlijk bij de meerderheid van de bevolking van België gekend als Brussel. Men gaat toch ook geen video opnemen in "Königsberg" en die plaats enkel zo benoemen omdat de lokale inwoners er voornamelijk die naam aan geven. Iedereen mag uiteraard het eigen werk benoemen naar eigen keuze, maar heeft geeft toch blijk van enige kennis ter zake als men de lokale cultuur wat kent.

    I thought Brussels is too crowded

    So basically Bruxelles is a much poorer, much colder, perennially cloudy & architecturally uglier clone of Washington DC. Why does Europe suck so much at everything?

      look at health, crime, poverty statistics in europe, and then look at u.s. statistics in those fields and more... even if the us is a the world's first economic power, for now, it can't give its citizens the same quality of life than in europe.

      @@jorgemadrazzo606 Dostoyevsky wrote: "beauty will save the world". Europe doesn't care about aesthetics. European cities are almost never built according to plan, they have depressingly narrow streets, they are massively overpopulated, and while violent crime is lower than in the US, I'd still much rather live in America and look at well-designed, green, leafy, tree-lined, wide streets around me every day instead of tiny labyrinths.

      @@bestchannelintheworld are you joking? The american zoning laws squeeze any bit of humanity out of any built up area. America had a chance to start from scratch and the best they could come up with was Suburbia.

      @@saladspinner3200 even an average American city like Charlotte or Atlanta is still 100000000000000 times more beautiful and livable than any city in Europe. Because the latter is ALWAYS grey with the prevailing type of architecture being post-WW2 ugly blocks, has narrow labyrinth-like streets, very little vegetation, no open spaces, and is severely overpopulated. And don't forget the graffiti and trash everywhere. Also I hate how Euro cities always have those cheapskate asphalt sidewalks instead of the amazing concrete ones that even freaking Chile managed to afford. Europe always saves money on everything and looks so worn-out and dirty because of this. Europe is like Camden at best (apart from all the crime of course), only at least Camden has plenty of space, sunshine and greenery. Also, one personal pet peeve of mine is how Europeans have no idea what a lawn is. They just let random grass grow and call it a lawn. I know some people hate lawns and would rather have grass instead, but not me.
      Suburbia is the best place to live unless your commute exceeds 1 hour in one direction.

      @@bestchannelintheworld you are so wrong on so many levels. Europe is not a single entity with a single type of architecture. Even just a single browse on Streetview can show that you are just maling things up. Just because your only expierence of the continent is a ghetto in Bucharest, doesn't mean the rest is identical.
