  • As we sailed we sailed north up the pacific coast of Mexico, we came across an injured whale with a line wrapped around its body, so jumped in to try and save it...
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!!

Colin, I’ve been watching u, every episode on Below Deck. Gonna be honest. I just lucked up and ran across u here. I’ve been binging these episodes. On Below Deck, of course I knew u knew ur job well enough to be there but really thought u were hired as just another pretty face. But wow, u are such a talented engineer and they were so lucky to have u! I’m so impressed with u! I’ve watched Below Deck since it first aired. Don’t even know how many seasons ago it was. But a decade and then some. Have seen every episode on every franchise. You are by far my favorite. I hope this doesn’t mean I won’t see u on Below Deck Sailing Yacht anymore. Hate the thought of u not being on the show! I think u r FANTASTIC and can’t wait to see where ur going next! I’m a rescuer and cried with u when u lost ur dog while on charter. Broke my heart for u. Love ur dogs. They r beautiful! Let’s do this!

Having a full crew must be reassuring when anchoring or sailing. Imagine doing all that single handed like Barry the Old Seadog. A big plus must be that you don't wind up talking to yourself, but I guess there's times when you just need to get some 'alone time' as well... Shame about the whale, but you and the crew's safety must come first. At least the proper people were informed and may be able to help...

.... that whale was going past like a tube train in London .... was rooting for your success in your mission, think you were wise to abort. Did you get an update from the rescue organization ... breaching to clear off barnacles, did not know that .... was in Porto Escondido back in the late 80s, in preparation for the future development the new runway had just been completed and it was still a sleepy town with a few mansions dotted along cliffs/ocean front owned buy Hollywood celebrities, so we were told .... thx for the share ... as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....

With so many on board it seems that there is very little time alone. I am not a selfish person but I wonder, do you ever get tired of how many people want to be part of the crew after all your and Jamie’s hard work. I suspect it is all part of a successful sailing channel, but Colin and Jamie, you are very generous. Please stay safe.

If by chance you come up on a similar situation it would probably help to use Scuba gear and have the dingy help you get in front of the Whale. Algo let the Whale know of your presence before diving in.
But a great effort, don't think much more you could have done. A terrible shame that it was not the only whale in similar situation

Colin or crew. Have Colin look into the Swell pro drone. We use one for hauling our big shark baits off the shore and we go hundreds of yards out with no signal issue plus if the drone splashes in the water it has a flip its self over mechanic and you can fly it right up again and it's pretty water proof.
