The Jayhawks are an American treasure. Gram Parsons and Gene Clark would've loved them.

They are a fine wine that just gets better with age.
Gary Louris is just a wonderful singer songwriter who also has a great band.
Just great music. Song writing, playing and harmonies. Real music and such a tonic compared to modern pop music. From a fan in New Zealand.
Isn't it incredible how a good vocal harmony elevates songs? The Jayhawks hit the spot always.

The Jayhawks have been a great band since the late 80s.
I played their first two (major label) albums all the time, and they still sound just as good today. When Marc Olson left, I thought it was over for them, but Sound of Lies, Smile, Rainyday…etc proved me wrong as they made some of their best music during that period. I still get hyped when they put out new music. As far as this set “Gonna be a darkness” puts chills down my spine

Is Tim playing a pizza box? 😁 I love that they are doing three songs with three different lead singers. Tim and Karen are really underrecognized as singers, IMHO, and they kill these two. And the album is nothing less than gorgeous.

It's a damn shame the Jayhawks (and other great live bands) don't get the support of a big label !!!!
Big labels don't develop anymore. Haven't for years. They only promote mega unit shifters, and reissue back catalogs. Record companies as they were known, are history. The new, good stuff has been reduced to a "boutique", self-run business. Welcome to the dark days of music. And by the way... you are right!!!
@@stormbringercoming8105 On the bright side, at least now the people supporting the music are the ones who are desperately happy to receive what real musicians are putting down. And it's a good thing that artists have complete control of their catalogs, that's for sure.

I agree. But there was a time when some record labels got behind a great artist and allowed them to develop because they knew something was there.
