Glad everyone is recovering Kenny!! Hustle on good sir
I purchased a 2011 CRV back in 2020 and as part of that, I went through and changed all the fluids and put a new valve cover gasket on. The hardest part (by far) was the spark plug gaskets in it, they were rock hard and extremely unhappy about being pried out of their old home.
Good to hear that Mrs. Wrenching and Aiden are doing well after being sick.
I had a 2007 Pilot come in for a CAT, no MIL, yet had a CAT code and a full engine cylinder misfire (all cylinders). Lower CAT inlet/outlet temps were the same. It got replaced. They didn’t want to put any more money into it other than that. If that vehicle ever comes back, I will definitely be keeping this video in mind. I like those feelers. Gonna see if the truck has them or can get them.
👍🏼 👍🏼
🙏🏼 hope the Mrs and grandson are recovering well 🙏🏼
You're one of the most knowledgeable mechanics I've been following on the site. Thanks, Kenny! Wishing Mrs. Wrenching and your grandson a quick recovery.
Thank you Kenny for another very informative video, great as ever to see you at work, best wishes to mrs wrenching and aiden for a very speedy recovery.
Man, you are taking me back to my air-cooled days, adjusting the vw valves every 6k or every other oil change. Of course the flat 4 was real easy to get to the valves! 😂😂
Hey thanks again my brother great video god bless your family
You got the patience of a saint Kenny
Wrong valve adjustment should always be on the loose side.
Thank you brother Kenny for this video. You continue to amze me at your vast knowledge of various vehicle issues such as this Honda Odessey with a 3.5 V6 needing the valves adjusted. I honestly thought that even Honda used hydraulic atomatically adjusted valve train. I also enjoy all of the details that you provide. I'm still waiting to hear from you and Meg regarding a November 4 visit. Take care.
Adjusting valves, I thought those days were over. That's what I get for thinking.
Hondas have always needed them. I believe even the brand new ones have solid lifters.
@@Sonichu_is_watchingEven my Honda HRX215 mower stopped backfiring on shutoff when I adjusted the valves!
Nice work brother!
what i got out of your valve adjustment video is to take it to a guy like you.
That's some fancy feeler shim handles Kenny....Although the blades are too wide for this Honda racehorse......🤔😏😏😀🇬🇧
I had a VW Bug and the valves had to be checked and adjusted. They were always fun laying on your back and working on them in the driveway. Thank goodness there where only 4 cylinders. I did not know that Hondas had to have valves adjusted. The valve cover was held on by a wire like the caps on brake master cylinder's. I hope everyone is doing ok with the pneumonia.
interesting honda used the same principle on my 84 magna motorcycle.at least the minivan heads have enough room to work & see what your doing at the same time without your hands blocking your vision.id swear they have engine assemblers with the hands of a 5 year old child.took me forever to get 16 valves right at .005.
Just curious, when was the timing belt changed on the engine? Hate to do all the work, then get it returned with a broken timing belt?
Honda spark plug tube seals are absolutely ridiculous! They get so hard and tight that I have chipped the valve cover casting. Toyotas are not like this at all. I am told that Hondas need regular valve adjustments and the cars will run way better after a valve adjustment. So, it is worth doing. Much more work on a V6 (intake removal, etc...) than a 4-banger. I would have cut myself with the knife when you were cutting off the bolt seal. PS, I do really like my Cyclops lights (I have two).
My lower back would be in agony in 30 minutes!!!
I agree
Seal puller help ?
When the wife isn’t looking, take her Crisco lard, it works the same as any new lubricant
How long can a tappet screw adjustment hold its tolerance ? On my Ducati, I adjust them every 1500 miles , but they are relatively easy to get to. On this V6 sheesh!
Ken, hello, no way misfire caused by excess lash, if you have a tight one, this is possible, a few thou excess has no way to cause this.
multiple cyl misfire under load, could it be a bad 10yr old aftermarket third cat
Yeah I do not think this is a fix either. Worked for Acura dealer for years and we only ever saw cold start misfires with tight valves. They are famous for gettin tight on the exhaust side. These VCM engines are famous for sticking piston rings and fouling plugs out on cylinders 1-4
I agree, only tight valves will cause a misfire not slightly loose ones.
What’s up with only some valves are CVT model?
Vacuum the dirt off and then anything that’s left your blow off
I had a pilot that had a misfire and it ended up being a burnt valve . which I have never seen a Honda engine do it had like 130,00 miles
2013 Fit. 265k. Valves never been adjusted orig plugs changed at 261k. Runs like a sewing machine
those are so fun to do.................I love sarcasm....
Seems like customer aren't informed of valve adjustment.or don't want to pay for a valve adjustment.vehicle starts, runs alot better.
They must be using cheap a$$ oil or gasoline... motor stained badly
Kenny, this is not your year is it, one thing after another.
What is Honda's fetish with adjustable valves like it's the 1950s?
Having adjustable valves isn't a problem. Having to remove the top half of the engine to get to the valves to adjust is.
@@bertgrau3934 If the valves didn't need to be adjusted, you wouldn't need to remove the top half of the engine. Maybe next year Honda will bring back distributors too. Or better yet, points and condenser!
Because then they would have to redesign an engine that's worked well for them for a long time which would cost money they don't want to spend. It's got nothing to do with fetishes.
@@elcheapo5302
Frankly, I wouldn't care. I bet most people that like Hondas wouldn't care either. I have a 64 dodge Dart, 6 cylinder and 3 speed manual transmission. ( I wonder if you hate manual transmissions) I change points and condensers every 4 to 6 months, spark plugs every 2 years. Change fuel filters every 6 months. The old car runs great and I enjoy driving it. Would like to add a 6 speed manual transmission in the future.
It's taking everything in me not to push the candidate (male) that I want to win the election on your videos.. Save America 🇺🇸 Good morning Mr. Kenny!
Keep that crap off this channel.
What kind of special horse shit design is that? Why do they have to make everything so damn hard????????????
Hello Mr Kenny, hope y'all have a great hump day.Tell Mrs Kenny I said hello and send my best. Thank you for the great videos 🎉😊
