I started this in March around when the song first came out, but I got super distracted but I FINALLY Finished It!!! (If y'all haven't checked out Glass Animals newest album Please check them out!)

i just realized that the fantasy designs have shapes based on them. Like ashfur, hawkfrost and hollyleaf are all triangles which symbolizes instability and are commonly used for villains in storytelling, circles/roundish designs such as squirrelflight is wholeness/harmony and are common among protagonists, squares for brambleclaw and lionheart symbolizes strength, reliablity and order.

Haha yeah! I made him purple due to the line “that purple touch”, same with squirrelflight, she has the same blue hair as ashfurs blue since there was a line “you dyed your hair blue”

The switching between realities makes me feel: That it shows the "human" side of them. When he dies he let's go of this fake face he's putting on. He acts like he is fine then when he's in the fire everyone puts down their acting faces. Ash let's his anger fully out, Squirrel says the truth and it's overall just amazing!! This is by far one of my most favorite pmv's. Idk if I got close to what you were going for, but either way you're very talented.

Yes! He's living in a fantasy reality of him and Squirrelflight, and then shit hits the fan when his fantasy world comes crashing down and he's finally got a chance to let it out. I really really REALLY love the contrast between fantasy and reality here, always have and always will

there's a detail barely anyone noticed! when ashfur is calm or sad, the background behind the trees is a neon blue; especially when the scene is brambleclaw. But whenever it's ashfur being malicious or tempered; or if there is tention in general it's neon magenta.
The switch between the neon and natural color palettes is just *chef's kiss
My theory: this bright and simple style to show how he sees the world, and he really doesn’t understand why Squirrelflight could ‘choose’ Brambleclaw over him, but when something horrible happens (the fire scene/him dying) it shows how real and gritty it is,and how in his eyes he doesn’t really get it. Like he’s lost his mind. So powerful.

Oh my GOSH!! I was _already digging_ the stylized PMV (the designs are very cute) but when it switches to a more "realistic" style/colors during the fire??! Showing Ashur's "rose-colored glasses/twisted perspective" just !!! so good!! It adds so much to a story we've all seen animated dozens of times!!

i like the idea that ashfur from the beginning had loved squirrelflight and had been trying to manipulate her from the beginning. then when he realized he wasnt getting what he wanted even though he had gone through all that trouble to manipulate her, is when he confronts her at the fire. the niceguy syndrome .

i dont usually comment on warriors videos, but i have to here. the imagery and character designs are amazing, and the style switch was genius?? it really hammered in the seriousness of the fire scene, how deep Ashfur has sunk into his own fantasy world and how all the other cats see him - a monster. also amazing song choice! i've been obsessed with this song since it released and i actually thought it would make a great Ashfur amv, so glad to see someone else thought the same thing and went through with it! definitely one of my new favourite warriors animatics, amazing 💙💙💙
i honestly had no idea at first that the beginning wasn’t just style choice to match the song vibes until the realities flashed and switched and i audibly went “oh shit”

I just noticed this, but I like how Lionblazes design in Ashfurs eyes is more like Squrrielflight and Brambleclaw, but it is actually more like Leafpools in the real version
yooo this totally blew me away!!! the contrast in pallettes and designs was literally perfect dude, the fire scene actually took me by surprise and i was so drawn into it from then on! beautiful beautiful beautiful!! ashfurs design in particular i really thought was pretty, as were his expressions. I don’t know if it was on purpose but I reeeaallly really like how the blue on Squirrel flight’s hair is the exact same blue as Ashfurs in his delusion land, like, he should be on her mind if he isn’t, he’s trying to play mind games and get into her brain just gaaah so subtle and creepy and beautiful.
I think it's really interesting how dark Brambleclaw is in Ashfur perception, because that would give a reason for Hollyleaf to be so dark colored and also be Brambleclaw's kit

Yeah!! When I was designing her I went for heart eyes (and also the lighter marking on her face is also the shape of a heart too!)

LOVED the way you transition art styles!!! It did such an amazing job at showing the difference in tension and showing what's actually happening! Ashfur is always in his head throughout the whole video, but once he acted out and attempted something, things changed!! Even showing it transitioning back as the event ended, it was so good!!!

im kind of late to this,, but here's my interpretation most specifically regarding the style choice,,
if you pay attention squirrelflight has the most significant changes in her style between reality and ashfur's perception of her... it almost feel like he uh objectifies her?? in his perception/reality her characteristics are feel strongly feminine and charismatic almost. her eye shape in his perception is hearts, her ears are more rounded as well as her fur is more smooth rather than portraying a more fluffy build to which the artist shows she has in the real reality, even her nose in ashfur's reality is more heart shaped. then when it switches to what they actually look like her eyes are more of a round shape, her ears just look like shorter ears not so much rounded, and her coat becomes fluffy and more furry.
while-as looking at hollyleaf in his twisted reality vs real reality she almost doesn't change at all. even ashfur himself barely changes characteristically between the realities, which honestly coming from my perspective really shows that ashfur valued and focused so intensely on squirrelflight that everything and everyone else became practically irrelevant.
but thats just my take on the stylistic choices c:

I like how you didn't make Ashfur seem like the good guy. You showed him how he is, but in his perspective. Other PMVs love to make bad cats seem good. ( Like Hawkfrost, who tried to kill someone. Or Mapleshade. )
@Robriel King mapleshade was always flawed and manipulative; think about how she had no problem lying about who the father was to her kits so they could stay in the clan

@@NeroPawz Mapleshade did what a mother had to so they could stay safe, and in the end the system backfired on her. A relationship fell apart and she lost her kits because she was driven from the clan for having children with someone outside of the clan.
They wouldn't have drowned if she hadn't been forced out and had to cross the river, and everything past that wouldn't have happened because then the kits wouldn't have died.
