So underrated. One they know how to swim. Two they are technically dancing which most people can’t do. Three they have to be close together. Four they are so graceful. Five they are not allowed to touch the bottom of the pool or they will be disqualified.
I know some people don’t know how to swim but swimming isn’t a skill it’s just something you’re supposed to know how to do LOL, but yes everything else you say is true

ok i'm a synchronized swimmer (now it's called artistic swimming but i like synchronized swimming better) and it's so underrated how actually hard it is to be holding ur breath and having such a tight core while ur upside down in the water and i'm so happy someone finally pointed it out😭
True, it takes so much trainings to be able to keep your body still vertically, keep the preferred part (legs above) and keep dancing in sync while you can’t even really hear the music underwater
As someone who did synchronized swimming, it takes a lot of work. And I feel like not as many people know what it takes. It takes breath control, strength, flexibility, gracefulness, bodily awareness and the ability to stay on beat.

Fr. There are so many athletes (at least in the UK) who dedicate their whole lives to this sport but can’t reach their full potential. Synchro has ridiculously poor funding and it’s so hard to find an substantial sponsor. These girls (and lads ofc) have to sustain jobs alongside their 8-hour training days. It’s crazy how little respect people have for us

We have imitation movements we do with our hands and arms. Every move has a name so we’d learn the steps and rehearse them on land, then try them out in the water to make sure they actually worked.

My total admiration and respect for these women who practice this impressive sport and which requires such a physical condition, sacrifice, technique and self control.
I used to do synchronized swimming and it really is very underrated. It takes a ton of strength and skill while still looking graceful and elegant upside down!
Used to watch this before the underwater cameras and believe me i thought it was LAME 😒 but, i know just realized the amount of finesse and energy it takes to hold your breath and dance like that OMG 😱
Is it just me or do they kinda look like chickens under water Iknow it’s EXTREMELY difficult to keep the air out of ur lungs to stay under water so it’s really incredible!
I remember for a time special forces looked into training utilizing techniques taught in synchronized swimming because it allowed enhanced control underwater such as conservation of energy expenditure and controlling how to stay in a certain orientation. Surprisingly difficult based on the feedback of BUD/S candidates. They’re not the only ones to try this though.
Such a beautiful and technical sport yet still underrated.
