I wouldn’t allow that student to belt or even attempt to sing loud until he mastered some basic exercises and could demonstrate them them tension free at a low volume.
I really love your vocal tips. I’d love to have step by step constructive criticism as I go then just hear that’s good. That’s great. Etc. I’ve learned a lot more watching you than when I used to watch Tristan. I love his videos don’t get me wrong but I learn more with your approach. I think you are able to explain it extremely well. 💜 Great video as always Adam!
I found this video by accident and I watched your video and I so agree!!! The first thing I noticed is the tension, first thing to work on. Tension everywhere: neck, jaw, mouth, eyebrows, shoulders... I'm a professional singer myself, gave lessons for about 1.5 years but decided to focus on my own career first ;) Great job Adam!
Tristan is kind of like the Dr. Oz of vocal coaching. As a language teacher, watching this lesson was rather painful because he didn't explain anything & just put the concepts out there for the student to figure out. My approach would've been to show the guy what his neck is doing, and explain why those muscles react that way, then show him how his muscles should react & how to achieve that. What Tristan did was basically show the student he can effortlessly make sounds and he should just do the same...🙃 I heard he's super expensive now, so maybe he's reserving teaching well to influencer clients, but this sure didn't make sense to me as a lesson. I used to watch him way back when he tapped into BTS and at that time, he was nice to watch BC he debunked lots of singing myths among Kpop fans - lots of ppl think skilled singing equals singing perfectly 24/7. So he was good for that, but I think he was just going through trends to become noticed. You're certainly more technical and perhaps that can come off negatively to some. On the other hand, ppl learn from you even when you're just analysing a performance and that's a good teacher's feat bc we can't turn it off. When you enjoy the craft, you always end up spilling knowledge. I never felt that from watching Tristan, he was more concerned with disproving others & that's why he talked openly about certain topics.
Thank you so much for your well thought-out comment. Yeah, he has a very different style of teaching from me. He seems to avoid getting technical even though I know he knows the technique, he just doesn't want to get too technical in his lessons.
you put it very well! this was always my main problem with him too, even in his reaction videos. he never said anything helpful, even for the positive reactions he didn't explain what the singer was doing well ever (even though i think that would be pretty uncontroversial if your goal is to actually avoid controversy). he just kind of said something sounded good and made a show of singing a bunch of different vowels and then moved on
@@ishathakorThat's not true. He's frequently showed different tips to use, including showing the face shape you should make and describing where to hold the tension. He's less technical yes, because that's what pays best. Most of his viewers watch for the reactions.
Never cared for Tristan’s style. I’m a choir teacher and he just always rubbed me the wrong way. Now that I’ve watched him teach I realize he isn’t much of a pedagogue. Adam would be way more effective in a lesson.
Can you please react to my favorite singer, Faouzia (Foe-Zee-Uh)? Shes absolutely incredible! I'm sure she'll blow your mind. Maybe to start, her tiktok covers would be good. This kinda made tristen look like a bad vocal coach. He just kept telling the guy he was doing great when he clearly wasn't. I'd be kind of upset if I paid a vocal coach just to tell me im doing great and boost my confidence while I look like a fool singing infront of anyone else. But I do like his videos. I feel like I learn way more from the videos he does reacting to famous singers new songs than I would if I took a lesson from him. I've actually learned alot from those videos. I thought he'd be just like that with his lessons and am a bit suprised actually.
@@Neilukuk What? Guys he’s no fraud. He knows vocal technique and if you watch some old videos of his you’ll see it. He’s debunked poor coaching techniques actually. He just approaches coaching at a less technical standpoint.
Great exposure video Meh. Saw some of his earlier content of Tristan’s. He just tried to bag out other vocal teachers and hasn’t offered any great method himself. This video if proof of this. Most people could find a better vocal coach locally. Most likely this is why he’s gone into reaction videos because he doesn’t have to offer anything of much substance. Why people bother watching him is beyond me! Maybe to get a laugh.
Tristan has gotten 2 other degrees in voice pedagogy since then I believe. He also recently graduated from Complete Vocal Institute which is the only really "technical" singing institute where everything is strictly science based there is. I am a patron of his and have taken lessons with him within the past year and it's nothing like this. He's very technical and knowledgeable. He definitely knew the technique back then too, I just think that this is a different approach to teaching. Personally, I learn a lot more when I can kinda figure it out on my own. And Tristans CVT way of teaching now, allows that to happen in a safe and non-damaging manner. The reaction videos are obviously for money and the views show that people enjoy this so why not. But yeah in-depth singing technique is on his patreon
@@charagia Great. I know a number of vocal coaches in my city alone that have years of experience and higher levels of education in vocal training. They also cost a lot less for private lessons . @@JiMMY-my1ds tbh i don’t really know what you mean with finding someone cheaper, in my area his prices are average 🤷♀️. how many singing degrees would be enough for you? he has 4 i think. don’t get me wrong, absolutely you do you, but for me the trade off for getting someone with even more experience means i’m getting some old person that’s not interested in training me for what i wanna do, but instead keeps pushing for „the old ways“. I’ve had two local voice teachers who were both more expensive and also less helpful to me personally. the online thing makes sense tho :) but i didn’t go into it with no experience on the physicalities of it so i feel it’s fine for me
@@charagia Mate, if it works for you, that’s good. From what I saw on this video and what I’ve seen previously it appears he doesn’t seem to offering much more than what a local University teacher would. That would be stupid and expensive and would take numerous years to complete individually 12-16 years. What you are claiming there is totally incorrect. What I saw he was charging for lessons was hundreds of $$ but that was a while ago now. It may have possibly changed. What did he charge you a session per hour?? Tristan also began his foray into RUclips by bagging other online teachers. And I have yet to see proof of him developing any of his students from novice to expert. I’m still not convinced of his ability to produce any solid vocal results from his students though. Peace ✌️
