Brock when front is down hill, pickup the front of your tractor with the loader to level tractor and make stump grinder go down farther. Just a thought
Howdy Brock! Went quicker than I thought it would. The whole time you were grinding the gardener in me was thinking how great all those wood chips would be for my composting... ha! Thanks for sharing 🤠
Thanks Brock! It's always good to see the reality of these kinds of operations, vs. what the marketing might have you believe. We have one stump at least that big that is right up against the deck - seeing how you had to reposition the tractor & grinder a few times is something I'll need to keep in mind to see if it's feasible for me to grind that stump with a swing-style PTO grinder.
I’ve said it before but…….you need to keep your John Deere when you upgrade to a larger cab tractor…..great video showing how much work is still involved in grinding large stumps…. Just because you own a grinder it’s still a TON of work! 👍👍🔥🔥
That's AWESOME! I wish our 3032 could run that. We have about 10 stumps that need to be gone. I figure I'll rent a track loader and forestry mulcher. Nice video.
Yeah, this one is supposed to have 30 PTO horsepower, but there are several stump grinders that will work on your tractor. I recently showed the woods articulating grinder that could run on your machine If you had the hydraulics
Brock - Nice work! I do stump grinding professionally, I own a 37hp dedicated stump grinder (Barreto SG37) it would have taken me approximately 75 min to grind that “mounded” stump” to at least 10” below grade and I’d charge around $300 up here in the far western suburbs of Chicago. If it was in a yard, like 90% of my work is, it would take at least another 20-30min to pile up (blow & rake) the grindings or I’d charge another at $100 to haul them off.
Thank you for sharing that information. I agree with what you’re saying there. If I were bidding that I would’ve continued to work it below grade further. Did it a little bit differently? Because it’s on my own property
@@RockhillfarmYT Oh yeah, totally understand, I wasn't being critical, more like describing the service details for the cost I provided. I did see and agreed with the comment, if you were going to ever disc/till that area, going deeper would be better/safer😉😉 I am impressed with how big a bite you can take on those top passes with that Baumalight, but like all grinders, once you have the wheel 1/4-1/3+ down in the stump that is where the power of the grinders really show up, and on pine stumps mine bogs down a lot and the whole process slows down. A 24" pine can take as long as a 40" oak/maple. Soon hopefully I can graduate to a diesel-powered grinder 🙏🙏 Stay safe & God bless.
Another great video sir. I have a 1p24 baumalight and the biggest problem I have with it is how damaging it is to use around finished landscape. I live in Florida and there is a lot of moisture in the ground pretty much all year round. Fixed stump grinder requires you to drive over the same area in multiple passes and all the moisture in the ground comes up and creates a muddy mess. These swing arm stump grinders seem to not only to be much more efficient but also much easier on landscape. I foresee an upgrade coming in the near future.
Admittedly my stumps are much smaller, but I'm 100% satisfied with my bxpanded ripper tooth on the 270b backhoe. Stock hydraulics, and with some manipulation I rip the lateral roots and pop the stump out. I cut it about waist high so there's a good amount of available leverage. I like the idea of the grinder, but I won't buy one until the rip and pop method fails me
Yeah I plan to keep the bxpanded for the smaller stuff and go with the grinder for the MOAS (mother of all stumps) like this one. I mean, you can never have too many tools at your disposal, right?
I've seriously considered buying one of these stump grinders. I've used the walk-behind stump grinders and that stump would've taken hours to grind. What chainsaw are you using? is that a 500i? Great video
i had a thought when you were talking at the end of the video if that is in the area you were earlier thinking about using as a hay field hitting that stump with tillage equipment wont be fun
Good video, I just bought a quick attach brand for my Kubota MX 5400, do you have your seat switch manipulated so you can get off the tractor and run the controls without the pto stopping?? My Kubota will stop if you get off the seat, I want to be able to run and see better off the tractor

Oddly satisfying watching you grinding the stump

Good idea with the leaf blower to help see what your doing. Will definitely use that idea next time I’m grinding stumps 👍
That was awesome! I need one.

@@RockhillfarmYT We don't have hydraulics. I wish I would have spent more time watching your channel before purchasing the tractor! Live and learn...

That's interesting and I'm trying to locate one of those Barreto for DDIY project where I have to grind out 8 smaller stump on a 1 acre plot.

Hard to rip and pop a stump by a house or a fence or a driveway or a pool etc, so there is ur grinder business

That’s a valid point. I guess I know what I’m doing into the video I record tomorrow.

One stump is not all that bad. Grinding stumps all day would wear on a man after awhile.

So when it stopped grinding and the clock was still running did the clutch slip? Or what was happening?
lol i didn’t got 20 staples and 40 stitches above my knee
What toothbar do you use? I saw your video comparing the different brands but dont know which one you actually use.
Are use the Bxpanded piranha bar
