There are very few BBs that somewhat works - W.Virginia '44 and Renown '44 with secondary build (AI gunners = best gunners) - they are quite good in dealing with fast smoll bois and enemy DDs but thats it. Anyway you still need teammates with working brain and pair of hands to make it work which isn't that easy to get if u are not in div...
Yeah I get that this supposed cruisers and DDs but half the games I run a cruiser, everyone else dies and I don’t have the HP to push in and knock out the coastal guns. So I get zero stars. If I run WV44 I can at least get a win.
Sure, you don't NEED Atlanta to 5 star the mode. But it's still a damn helpful crutch when playing with no div, Iron Duke and 2 rental Gas who die with little real contribution.
Flamu, return to reality...few people hve Atlanta and even few have a 5 people division to coordinate.

Standard Mahan build with "Main Battery and AA Expert", "Fearless Brawler" and of course "Depth Charges Mod.1" :-D i'd love to see that total built.

What's wrong with range and DPM on a gunboat? Only the depth charges is sus, but that's for the operation.
@@Flamuu pretty much this. DCs are a total outlier (I am addicted to engine mod, really good in smoke plays for torps), but mahan has like good tier 8-9 DPM at tier 7, the torps aren’t her shiny point (even if goodish), I’m not totally sure on range personally because the arcs are rough, however I see it as valid nonetheless, it’s just personal preference (I have less game sense so RL helps me in a lot of pinches)
I’m just honestly so glad seeing mahan get some love, so many people call her shit cause of conceal and big+squishy (admittedly a rough combo) + seeing the average wows player explode in them often, but I like her agility and offense a lot.
Nope, you don’t need an Atlanta. Just a pair of hands, a brain that extends above the spinal column and one Dutch boi.
No, you need a relatively full division of experienced and skilled players. Flamu isn't playing this mode in a division of scrubs - he knows that WILL FAIL - the division that he's in ALL know this scenario and can shoot. You can't have random people with two hands and what passes for a functioning brain - that won't work.
And a team that knows what their are doing (a random team never does)
One thing I have noted, AP is much more effective against the on shore bunkers than HE. Other than that, ammunition use as per usual ;)

I got 5 star on second try with secondary spec Agincourt. Secondary guns smash the torpboats. Solo as well.
A division is also a requirement in my opinion.
Last night I got my first 5 stars with a random team. It was not that bad. I was in a Helena and I stayed in the middle and was ready to support the landing boats when they showed up against the DDs. A Flint and a Atlanta went closer to the coast to deal with the batteries and AA as they intercepted the planes early on and the BBs stayed mid and also helped dealing with the mines
I play on NA, the Z23s always spawn on the NE. We end up losing most landing-ships since we all pushed towards the coast lines. Jupiter and Boise are my go to's.😊
I've played this operation around 20 times and only yesterday did I get my first 5-star completion. You need high DPM ships BUT ALSO no BB in your team (or maybe one with good secondaries), players that know what they're doing and a bit of luck. It's tough getting everything at once.
My favorite part of this mission is locking onto a target/ship/fort and having the shells shoot in a completely different direction than aimed. I thought i was seeing things at first but ive had it happen now maybe half a dozen times, or more. Helena is fun in this mode but without a div, 5 stars kinda luck of the draw. 99% you're on a team of mental midgets or its their first time.
Well, 3 man div is enough.

3 man div was enough coordination for us to easily get 5 stars.. Problem is not being able to control random teammates and hoping they can do the tasks on the side you're not lol
I found Boise to be perfect for this. T7 cruiser with heal, easy.

@@Cat_in_The-Box I only did this to get the achievement. I completely ignoring it since. Even coop is at least 2 times faster than this, and less stressful .

Five stars is easy, I don't see how so many people struggle with this operation. You just have to be the carrying Atlanta yourself.

No, You don't need an atlanta to get 5 stars, you need a decent team which is ni impossible these days they all come in BBs or DDs then die to there own stupidity AKA torps
most of the one playing in this mode are solo. should try soloing this. I 5 star this mode many times using Marblehead of all things
