Tip from a Brazilian: we are used to listen to English all the time. Most of us are watching old sitcoms like Friends or Seinfeld using subtitles. If you go to a movie theater in Brazil you can choose between dubbed or subtitled films, and most people enjoy the original audio. Therefore, we understand like 80% of what you say. HOWEVER, we never practise speaking for lack of opportunities. So you will find out that most Brazilians have a decent English knowledge, but they are shy to speak. Ask for simple questions like YES or NO and you are gold.
