      The damage done is, by now, simply too great to reverse in the timeframe expected by the masses.
      Further outsourcing is going to be necessary in order to provide a "quick fix" and if Labour aren't able to demonstrate an improvement in the service, then the critical swing voters and former red wall gammons will quite possibly be swayed by the Tories again.

      Margaret Thatcher actually said and is on record as saying that her greatest political achievement was Tony Blair becoming Prime Minister. He was obviously "Labour ", but Thatcher had moved the dial so far right that someone like Blair could be a Labour PM. He proposed and started so much privatisation within the NHS that even Thatcher wouldn't have the cojones to attempt, even if she wanted to.

    • @vibez_kru01
      @vibez_kru01 Год назад +6

      Their manifesto will be a carbon copy of what the Tories publish. When Kier is asked about it, he’ll lie.
      On a serious note though, what people need to realise is that the economy is in such a poor state, Labour will be forced to adopt the Tories spending plans, just like Blair and Brown did during their first term. The alternative will be to borrow more and invest, but this will draw accusations of Labour being reckless with the economy, and will no doubt be a vote loser, so they won’t go near any new borrowing.
      I think it’s going to be very hard for Starmer to deliver much under the current economic circumstances, short of tinkering with how severe austerity will be under a New Labour 2.0 governments first term.

      And just for reference, the tories have borrowed an eye-boggling amount over the last 13 years. Not all on the pandemic either. New Labour had debt as a % of GDP falling year on year. It's not about being forced into Austerity because of the economic situation - that's quite simply wrong. The media will always get on the back of Labour for things the tories get away with without anyone paying attention.

The trick to get that is to make sure there's a hung parliament, which win force Starmer to agree to implement that at offset of a deal with the other parties that form a coalition. Labour will be the largest party at the next election. The Tories are too far gone, and nothing is going to change that outcome. The only question is if they can get enough for a full majority. We can make it happen by voting for whichever small party or independent is in our areas. Do not vote for new new Labour. The Tories will beer out anyway, so there's absolutely nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

      @@GaryJohnWalker1 According to my sources, the majority of working people voted labour in 2019, google says the tuition fees were introduced in 1998, so not sure about the statistics still. More older people supported Tories and many still do. And the most of the voting nation is split between these two parties. It is hard to imagine that a large chunk of people would suddenly switch to Tories just because Starmer is the Labour leader now. In fact the polls favour Labour more and more over Tories, young or old. So I don't see the 90% very realistic.

    10:00 the problem with sanctions in the UC system is, the private companies get £4000 for every long term unemployed they get off the books and into work.
    Great you might say, but these private companies don’t care about the individual or the suitability of the job they force the individual into. They only care about the £4k. The individual might not even be able to afford the public transport to get to the job location or the job might require them to get there at short notice like a key holder for example.
    Private companies are making a fortune from government funds (which is tax payers money) off of unemployed people.

"Doesn't matter", said the ref. "OFF!" So we were then two down and lost (no subs in those days). The puncher didn't get picked again that season. Should have been ever.
