You are fighting this boss correctly at first but the style needs to change after you break his armor. You need to duck quicker before he lands and strick him like you've been doing. Get to one platform after you break his armor and hit him while ducking down, race to the other platform and keep doing the same and you should defeat him this way... Good luck with all that comes next!! Lol
