Deutschlandlied (Song of Germany), the National Anthem of the Federal Republic of Germany (Bundesrepublik Deutschland).
Written by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1841 and adopted as the national anthem of Germany in 1922.

und kein Piefke und kein Preusse hat sie komponiert, es war ein kroatisch/österr. Volkslied, Kroatien war wohl nicht Piefkeand, sondern Österreich, ab 1867 ungar. Reichshälfte, Joseph Haydn hörte das Lied von kroatischen Feldarbeitern seiner Heimat, er schuf draus erst da Kaiserquartett und dann die Volkshymne, Volkshymne war der korrekte Titel, eine Nationalhymne konnte es ja nicht sein, bei 13 div. Nationalitäten, Haydn widmete die Volkshymned dem Hause Österreich - es gab sie in allen Sprachen der Donaumonarchie, deren es 13 in 11 Kronländern gabm na so etwas, Österreich oder Deutschland?

I read on Wikipedia that there was a plan to use Auferstanden's lyrics and put it on Haydn's melody, but the West German gov't refused to do it.

This was our old anthem. We don't use it today since it is associated with Nazi-ism

It’s not associated with nazism. It’s the original German anthem dating back to deutsches Kaiserreich. The nazi German anthem is hort wessel lied.
ST 321 However, the nazis used and misused this anthem for their purposes, which is the reason why you shouldn't sing the first two verses in public today.
The first Anthem was "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" to the same melody than god save the Queen. After that we used the 1st stanza. In time of the nazi regime they used both and just stopped using this one later one. So you see why we won't sing it anymore? Also tue misinterpretation of "über alles in der Welt" is another point. It was meant in terms of german unity above separation into hundred of little (german) states. So it was never meant in terms of Invasion and war but thats how it was Interpreted at the end.
Also this is a poem sung to the austrian "KAISERHYMNE".

The melody is from the austrian "kaiserhymne" of Joseph Haydn but the lyrics had never been part of any austrian anthem. My advice to you is prove your base. I dunno who told/teached you that bs but he/she should learn his/her stuff!

Joaquin Bayona After the war the allies said that we have to remove it. :( It said "Von der Maas bis an die Memel, von der Etsch bis an den Belt" because this were the true boarders of Germany. But the allies stole our territories so they asked us to remove the first verse so we forget about it. :/ Allies are lyers.
@@OkimeOlvx Nope. Das waren nie die Grenzen "Deutschlands" das war so ungefähr das Gebiet in dem deutsch gesprochen wurde (mit Ausnahme der Schweiz), aber nie territorial gemeint. Das ist ja der große Fehler der mit dieser Hymne verbunden ist. Es ging darum aus Hunderten Kleinstaaten, Herzogtümern und Fürstentümern ein gemeinsames Land zu bilden. Das Lied sollte niemals aggressiv und auf Eroberung ausgelegt sein.
