Great video! I’m new to COIN as well, but seeing your video helped me better understand the game’s flow and considerations when playing commands. Good idea to only play commands on the first several rounds. I’ll do that too.
Good job. The game definitely gets far more complicated using the special actions, as I'm sure you have discovered. I am playing the long game as the Romans against the bots, and I'm really enjoying it. For whatever reason, most of the COIN games really get me, despite how abstract they are. In this one, the Arverni victory conditions seems difficult, even imposible (how the heck are they supposed to dispose of those legions), but I can see how it might work out - they don't have to do the heavy lifting alone. In my current game, my Romans narrowly avoided disaster early on from the Belgic bot using Enlist to have a swarm of germanic warbands attack some of my weakly screened legions. As in all COIN games, it's going to take a few playings to start to grasp good strategy. Look for to your next vid.
Thanks for the comments. I still haven't finished a full playthrough yet. The Aedui have me stumped a bit, maybe because they rely on their special abilities so much and I haven't really gotten to use them that much yet. I am loving this system though. I love the Germanic Tribes too. The Belgic Enlist is great fun - sending a horde of Germans into Roman Controlled areas is awesome.
Great video. My game arrived this week and I haven't had time to set it up yet. it looks daunting but watching your video has certainly made it seem a lot simpler. I'd like to see a video on the set up.
Thanks for the videos. My copy of the game is on its way to me, so I'm thankfull for any help to get into the rules. Will be my first COIN game. To start with just the commands seems to be a good idea. I still have to watch your second video and then it's probably a lot easier to work through the Playbook :-)
It is designed from 1 to 4 players. There are "bots" or game-controlled players so you can play solitaire or play with more people and just fill in the gaps with the bots. I haven't tried that out yet but I hear they're a bit hard to understand at the beginning.

I watched both videos completely and learned quite a bit. keep it up, mate!
I've played Fire in the Lake a few times and still don't really know everything about it. You did very good for your first time playing a coin game.

Great introduction my friend. I am learning it too ;)
Great video. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn the COIN system

Excellent instructional video. Very helpful. Thank you!
Can't wait for Part 2
waiting for second part :)
Jesus! ... that intro music almost made me close the browser window.
Like like a good game, is it designed to be one player?

Im really not keen on this combat system. Needs dice rolls.
