Thank you very much, Matt! Your opinion is highly appreciated.
The variation for heavy gloves is already under development and will be available for the order in a week or two.
    Cheers,
    Kvetun

I was just looking at your fb page. If you set up a shop with specific items on fb that would make it easier to navigate vs just looking through photo albums to find and compare. Probably be buying a sabre or rapier next month from you if life and finances allow.

Not only is the product good (which is imperative), but equally importantly, Kvetun pricing is also very good.
I'm planning on picking up a rapier from them as well as a sabre.

I'll keep these guys in mind if I ever get into saber, thanks. Red Dragon should make their gloves the tiniest bit smaller, slimmer, and more streamlined so they can fit in these. I have great difficulty to all but exclusion using mine in my HEMA shop nylon basket-hilted broadsword. It locks the weapon firmly in place but I can't fully close my hand on the grip, tho the gloves work on anything else and offer excellent protection. I pinged my light to just now trying sword and gloves out lolz
Blued steel is one of my favorite metal colors. My 1911R1 (stock WW2 GI status, carried every day for 3+ years) was blued and it was so damn beautiful. Bu it's inadequate rust protection for CCW EDC required a gunsmith baked on coat of flat blacking.

Matt what do you think of Heilung, the Proto-Germanic historical-ish band? They did a show at Castlefest 2017, it's on RUclips, and quite frankly I love it. It's based on pre-migration era stuff, which if i'm not mistaken is one of your specialties, so your thoughts would be appreciated.
It sounds almost industrial, and the male vocals are really guttural, if you haven't listened to it it's pretty interesting stuff if nothing else.

I was thinking of buying a steel Wukusi Armory sabre. Do you have experience with Wukusi? And how do these Kvetun sabres compare to them? What's the best choice here? They both sell for approximately the same price.

Was it run by Norse Vikings? Maybe they raised cattle or horses there. Or it has been really garbled since it was a Norse word. Closest old Norse word would be kveða which means to talk or speak. So, it could be a gathering place, perhaps neutral ground that could be used for parleys.

    • @kvetunarmory1608
      @kvetunarmory1608 6 лет назад +5

Perhaps. The true origins in uncertain, but Scandinavian presence and influence on the area was solid, with no doubt.

Aw man, I'd love to learn sabre fencing.
My fingers are pretty messed up due to an accident when I was 15 and I absolutely can't afford to break a finger, which is why I don't dare to try longsword. Unfortunately that's the only option near where I live.

Given most military sabers don't have symmetrical guards, left side being less protective, does not not make this large symmetrical guard a poor choice for a practice design?

Anyone here have yet a chance to compare the Type 1 "Eastonized" Kvetun to the Castille Trooper w/ 23mm blade? I see the specs are similar. The Castille costs more, has a shorter (32.5" vs 34") and possibly harder blade ("RC 50" vs "RC 47-50"). Weight seems to be about the same... For getting price for now, which would you rather have for HEMA sparring?

i Should've watched till the end! I hope you do release a sig series saber. Of the time period related fencing you're the easiest to come across for researching equipment, the knowledge you put forth is also very respectable. if a sig series saber is released I have no doubts it will be a respected item.

Great review for what looks like a great product. Going on the Cyrillic, I'd pronounce it something like "kvyeh-tUn". I know it doesn't affect the blade itself, but if you like something, it's nice to know how 'to call it by its right name'.
