I owned Specialized Turbo Kenevo with 180mm travel front and back, 24.6kg....Awsome bike, very playful, accurate...I shortly tested Husquarna too....felt like a tractor, heavy, not so balanced...But about the video - great test and of course - great riding Neil! Greetings from Slovenia!
First time seeing a downhill Emtb bike in action, interesting to see not much difference in speed between the two at Difi, would suit steep climbs with no uplift service, very informative thanks for sharing!
I was wondering if we'd ever see downhill E-MTB's. That Husky looks amazing. I don't think it would be something you'd really ever compete in comps with, but it looks like it would be great fun for general downhill/techy stuff where there's no shuttle service. I wonder if it's a bit overkill for an E-bike though. It would be interesting to see how something like a Kenevo or even a Levo compares on that same Dyfi trail.
Had a blast around Afan last week, the climbing on the e-bike was probably more fun than the DH?!🤔 that’s the thing with emtb, it’s as much fun going up as going down!
I think Max from GMBN auf Deutsch said it. The Bio DH ist slightly faster and a little bit more fun, but with an E-DH you can ride lokal DH Trails a few times more often, because you are much faster the way up.
I was surprised how fast I could ride dh on an ebike. Its very comfortable, just takes a little getting used to the weight. been using a norco range vlt 180mm front 170mm rear.
"slow is smooth, smooth is fast"... The naturally aspirated felt way faster because it was all over the place. The weight of the emtb was making the bike feeling like a plough smoothing out all the little imperfections 😊
The e bike would def have carry momentum in the straight sections, but it would be sluggish in the turns. I bet the lower and centered heavier weight could actually be a benefit in technical terrain, but man i would not want to steer that through all those berms
To be honest, the only e-mtb that made sense for me years ago was the e-dh bike, can't believe it's not the best selling bike yet as it's all you could want on a gravity bike, mixed sized wheels with an easy climb and unbeatable shredder on the way down
Many places have lots of elevation and pretty gnarly terrain making this a better trade off than an (non-e) enduro bike. A dh bike will always be the best tool for the job on the descents but if you have no lift or shuttling road this is the next best thing. Imagine sessioning a gnarly local track, then flying up the next hill to ride another tech trail and so on.. sign me up. ✅
A DH E-Bike is the perfect tool for everything unless you care about weight. All of the comforts and benefits with very few of the disadvantages. I will still choose to die cimbing hills tho
I bought a turbo kenevo and made it 190 upfront and over stroked the rear to make it 187! I ride it everywhere! Xc freeride dh ever enduro crap. If you rode a dh bike from the mid 2000s up to 2012 or so then weight should not bother because those bikes weighed almost as much as e bikes do!
I own a downhill electric mountain bike, but I'm facing an issue with its 20mph speed limit. To successfully clear most of the jumps, a trail speed greater than 20mph is required. However, my motor stops assisting at 20mph, making a traditional bike faster in these instances.
for a one track pony type bike, such as a downhill nikem i think an ebike isnt such as good option. for other types, such as xc, enduro an ebike makes much more sense
Can't see the fun in a heavy bike where you can't use its power downhill without it trying to take you out due to that weight. I'd imagine even an enduro bike would be faster and more fun on that trail.
Just like anything, new technology is going to be heavy. When more and more people become interested in e-bikes, the tech, weight and price will significantly come down. I personally love e-bikes and only wished I had the money to afford one ( who am I kidding one road, one gravel, one mtb and one cruiser).
After about 3 years the last Keurig stopped working ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf initially was able to unblock, however eventually we couldn't fix. That one was a replacement unit sent by the manufacturer after we had problems with our very first Keurig. This works fine (lol, at least for now) however I didn't realize the water reservoir was so much smaller than our prior unit. With 2 people having one or two cups of coffee each morning, it seems like I'm refilling it daily. Otherwise just happy to have the convenience of pod coffee vs. making a morning pot.
Sorry but the clue is in the name…”downhill bike”… honestly people need to slow down and enjoy the process rather than looking for the quick and easy option in life. E-bikes do have a place in the world, the fact they can get the elderly and disabled out on the trails is amazing, healthy 14 year olds on an ebz is just lazy
@@Teddythehogwartsexpress12609 No it isn't actually. We aren't speaking in generalities, we're speaking about bikes. Once again, sounding like that prick no one wants to ride with.
@@BenBenBenJohnson exactly my point…you don’t ride a downhill bike up hill so why would you buy one just because they slap a motor on it? The quick and easy option. I’m not anti Ebz I’m anti greedy corporations who try to sell shit you don’t need. if you want to ride uphill and dh get an enduro.
I would like GMBN to not feature E-bikes. Like we wouldn't have enough waste, ethical and environmental problems from electric components (esp. batteries) from other sources already. I don't understand why people feel the need to go easy way and buy themselves new toys like e-bikes. If people are ready to buy there's people to capitalise on it. Just pedal your bike (unassisted), build up your fitness and try to reduce how much waste you produce.

Loving me Kenovo expert, all the good bits of a DH with a built in uplift :)
I've had my 2019 Haibike downhill 8.0 for a few years now and absolutely love it. Smashes uphills and downhills 🤟

Neil, I thought you’re review was balanced, true and objective. Was refreshing to hear. Glad to see it wasn’t a commercial mixed in with a challenge.

Can you volume down the music mix so we can hear the trail/rider dynamics which is the real music to our ears
I hope you make some urban mountain bike contents like what tires you need, suspension setups, how to tackle stairs, gutters, urban mtb commute, etc.
My bank account.
It goes faster downhill than any of these.
I think Max from GMBN auf Deutsch said it. The Bio DH ist slightly faster and a little bit more fun, but with an E-DH you can ride lokal DH Trails a few times more often, because you are much faster the way up.
The ebike nay sayers that use lifts in bike parks haven't thought it through very well. A great alternative

I bet the downhill emtb would feel amazing with 5000w
No mention of price in this video. That's the sticking point for many. Emtbs are still too expensive for me..
The e downhill would be great for me to practice at my local welsh mountain rough rocky trail with no uplift
There's no chair lift at Sky Park Village in Cali.
So having that Husky would be a great help riding back up to the top :)
If anyone is wondering the music on the first montage @ minute 1:30 is The Scavenger's daughter from Fire and Sword
Great video 😃 it's always fun to watch a comparison 😃
What's the point? The motor assist stops at 25 Km/h in the EU (or 20 mph in the US). The whole trip down you just had zero assist of the motor.
@@haveaseatplease lol, the motor is for going uphill

Would be interesting to see you do it with you kenevo sl lightish but motor assisted
They should make a "Devo SL". Kenevo SL with 200f/r & triple crown. with a slightly bigger battery. Like 500.
Love my Husky

I was wondering what bike is better for jumps and tecky stuf, a hardtail (29er, 100mm coil fork) or a ful suspention (26er, 150mm air fork and 120mm)
I’ve been playing with the idea of putting a motor on my pivot phoenix I barely ride. Now i want to even more!

I think thats why the weight didn't really bother me on the ebike as I used to have a 50 pound freeride bike in the early 2000s. the ebike shreds!
I have dh and enduro bike and my downhill bike brings me far more joy in a bike park
Been saying for years now this is the ultimate bike, a downhill ebike. It can do EVERYTHING better than any other bike
Is there $ in the budget to go 4k on all channels? 😉

Change the esc

Didn't Chis take his bike when he left?
I love a dh bike and have a 180mm travel eeb thats pretty good for my area, but when im going to fort bill or something the dh bike is way better

Want to go downhill fast but also be able to go uphill decently? Hmm, if only there was a category of bikes for that.
Enduro
Now put a 180mm Boxer on the KenevoSL and send it! I bet it's faster
Dh bike all the way
A e-dh bike isn't a dh bike
It's just a electric moped
Can you compare a MTB to a dirt bike next?
The weight of that bike, you would need to pay an enhanced park fee for weekly reconstruction of the trails.
That is nonsense... it's just the same as a 160lb rider vs a 180lb rider on the same bike, on the same trail.

17kg ally DH bike 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Half the exercise on the way up, half the fun on the way down -ebike marketing
This thing looks like a danger to other riders, at least to their eyes. It's damn ugly for a DH rig 🤢
