Great Video!! What a difference between Summer Season and Winter. I watched another You tube video of this town from last summer and the place was packed. I always look forward to your videos, especially the Montana ones as I am from Socal and have never really experienced that environment. Thank You.

Glad you enjoyed it! It gets busier later in winter with people coming into snowmobile and ski. This is just the week before Christmas break so most folks are traveling next week. Still, compared to summer, it’s wonderful to have it so quiet. Thanks for watching and commenting. Keep on steppin’ -H

West Yellowstone is a very nice little
quiet community there for a walk in the snow and cold, i really like the cabin
houses and the great scenery around the area there and way down here in Oklahoma where it is a little cool but
no snow or really cold weather though
i really enjoyed this video of the nice community of West Yellowstone and

*-H was this once the wild west in past centuries ? It would have snowed just like this back then too, not sure how people and horses coped back then.*
*❤ The video and have a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2024 to you and your family*
*P.s keep the videos coming in the new year too. 👍👏😊*

Hi Terry, yes, it was quite a different place back then, and probably had even more snow. I have no idea how they lived through this kind of weather, nor how the native peoples did either. I guess they just hunkered down and watched TV.😉
Thanks for your comments as always. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you as well. I will definitely keep filming walks. All the best. - H.

Shew! That was a good walk! My heart is a racin' 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️❄️! I was only there in West Yellowstone once with my Mom. It is a lot bigger than I realized!
Also, btw, I've never mentioned how I came across your channel, and since you mentioned it during this walk, I thought I'd share. I saw an image of Mt. Zion once a few years back and I thought it was absolutely gorgeous! So I did a search for Mt. Zion National Park, and your walk popped up! I played it and have been hooked ever since! Your name is known within the family now! "Where is Henry today?" Or "Where are you guys walking tonight?"
    So, thanks Henry & family!
    Happy New Year 2024!

I love living in MT. We were at Gardiner over Xmas. Actually hiked instead of Snow shoed to Wraith Falls first time so little snow 2024 Dec. It was the first time. Required items that come to mind in MT. Boots, Boos for the town and snow boots for feets of snow, layers of winter clothing, snow blower if you own property, that shovel will get real old real fast. Four wheel drive. At a minimum a Subaru. All of the "other" four wheel drives are just making it up. Preferably a truck or a Jeep and a minimum of limited slip differential preferably full time four wheel drive if you want to get specific. Four wheel drive systems themselves are NOT equal.
Two wheel drive sedans? I'm getting tired of pulling you out of ditches seriously. I've done it four times in 10 years as I have a winch on my truck not to mention waiting for the ranger once for a couple who went off the road by Cooke City or the foreign guy hanging over the edge of an icy road close to Lamar Valley in January once in a 2WD rental... That ought to be against the law.
They DO NOT use salt or plow the roads down to pavement here. No, they plow it down to and inch or more of snow and you drive on it with gravel in the corners and on hills. It goes away sometime in March usually. It's only a matter of time. And forget the slight hills. Did I mention boots? Once the snow comes down, it doesn't melt like back east. Nope, it's here till your spring is about over. I am NOT kidding or exaggerating. Then you got June, July, August September sometimes October for the Montana YOU think we are... Let's see, Sept like 15, 2017, 90 plus degrees and I'm working on my deck. Sept 17th, a foot of snow on my birdbath. Hmmm, or May 15thish 2022 a foot of snow one morning. There goes the early flowers except the bitterroot will push through in places.
This place isn't HEAVEN. Notice how the series Yellowstone doesn't show you all the stuff I'm talking about? I have a realtor friend who sells "Ranchettes." What's that? That's the ten acres of land and a million dollar home 20 miles from town. Well, about three to five years after being here, the wife of the rich guy who bought it says, I don't care what you do I"m going back to (wherever they came from) and they sell it. My realtor friend just waits and another couple walks in rinse and repeat. He makes a living doing it.
We will be going to W. Yellowstone on the weekend of the 18th Jan 25 and xcountry skiing the boundary line trail north for a few miles hitting Madison Crossing to eat and the Slippery Otter pub side but I think no football. They have a great Hot Buttered Rum... Oh, and as Montanan's, we don't go anywhere near these places after about the third week in May until about the second week in September. Momma didn't raise no fool. Both are only about 2.5 hours from my front door even in winter and I snow shoe up my two acres of mountain with the dogs at home I bought for 275K in 2012 and they tell me is worth almost a quarter million now. My taxes went from 1040 a year to 6700 bucks in 2025. I'm sitting on a 3% mortgage and at this rate the taxes will be more than the mortgage payment. And remember, value is nothing but property taxes if you don't want to sell. We now have a bunch of older people on fixed incomes being forced to sell because they can't afford the property taxes.
But, for me, not everyone, best decision I ever made to move here although I sometimes question it when it hits 30 to 40 below for a week or two every year end of January beginning of Feb usually.
AND for all of you thinking about it. All the deals are DONE on housing here. Values (Cost) have tripled since 2019 along with Property taxes. AND winter usually lasts from the end of October till sometime in late March to early April and you BETTER NOT plant anything in your garden till June first. That's like begging for it to freeze. It ain't YELLOWSTONE the series.

About not going to Yellowstone after May. It’s absolutely beautiful there, but the crowds are a challenge. Thanks for watching and commenting. - H.
