Quick NOTES - Leave a comment if you’d like me to expand on product photography in a more detailed video. this is a very basic rundown. - A lot of the examples today are taken from campaigns photographed around the theme “stay at home” hence a lot of the household item stuff.. It kinda contradicts the knowing the product part so I wanted to clarify! - Thanks in advance to everyone who supports 18twenty6!
8 minutes and 2 seconds was a minimal time to explain all of these tips and tricks but you nailed it Evan! I was a fan of your sneaker photography game since the day I subbed.. Keep it crushing man!
Dude you literally got me into product photography when I found your channel a couple of years ago - now it's my full time job. Thanks man! Love your shit.
I’m sure you’ll touch on this in a future vid but one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that it’s 100% worth it to clean the products before shooting them. So many times I’ve skipped that step and have to sit there in post covering up the specks. So annoying and such an easy thing to skip over when shooting.
The universe works in mysterious ways! Just yesterday, I thought about sending you a message to ask you to put out a video on product photography. Thanks! It's exactly what I needed.
I run an online crystal shop. I take so many photos but haven't been too proud of how they look. Because I have to make sure customers see the details in the crystals, I often use just a white foamboard as a backdrop. It's also more efficient since I have hundreds of crystals I photograph at one time. I've been wanting to up my game, especially for the marketing photos I use on Instagram vs. individual product listing photos. This video definitely gave me a lot to think about and even gets me a little excited to play with composition. Thank you so much!
So glad you made this video at a time where I've been really focused on it! Been following you for the last 3 years now and have felt myself improving as a creative along the journey with you! Keep creating man, can't wait til the next projects finished to show support!
I knew you were good, but explaining the science and psychology behind product photography, and how you, as the artist, specifically conceptualize, shoot, and edit.. I'm just blown away.
Love a video presenter that is all about what they're presenting and less about annoying fluff in the presentation. I wathched to the end and got good tips.
One 👍 for you Evan. I have seen lots of youtubers doing camera reviews, showinh their photography skills. I still watch them everyday. But no one does product photography as fantastic as you. You are hands down my favourite youtuber for product photography. So a 👍 for you.
Really enjoyed that Evan. I've been struggling with some indoor photography ideas for a while and this video (mainly the window light) has given me a kick up the ass. I knew natural/window light was key but I've always struggled to find the right spot in my house to make the most of it - but I just had a brain wave while watching this - so I'm crediting you with the inspiration. Off to the hardware store to get the material to make a large window shelf.. Have an inspiring weekend sir!
Thanks for another product photography vid! Your previous videos got me experimenting with it and I'm on the path of trying to land my first gig for a local shop as you did. Love the vids, God bless.
I just did a product launch shoot for my girlfriend’s website and store last month and I learned a lot! First time and I don’t think it came out half bad! 👍🏽📸
Thank you for sharing all the great content, its help me a lot. Just started my business and can't afford a product photographer at the moment. I've always loved taking picks, so its been fun learning the techniques.
Damnn! I started street photography because of you 10 months ago and product photography 1 month ago and now you made a video about it. I really appreciate the videos you create for the new generation of photographers! You are the goat in photography, much love!!
That's what the problem is with product photography we have the entire control in our hands that's why it might turn out best , but in landscape photography nature does everything we just have to compose in street emotions and daily life does the job we have to compose and emphasise which is harder though but not as hard as product photography because it is a dull thing which we have to modify and compose to our liking it is tough and the fact that Evan is doing this for years shows the control he has over his photos huge respect pal
You're such an inspiration. I started shooting some sneakers recently and your videos and tips helped me A LOT. So, thank you for sharing and I hope to be a great product photographer in a few years
Watching your channel since growing out of your Evan5PS something 😁, product photography grew on me. First only sneakers, actually my sneakers 🤷🏻♂️, but since we've been heavily restricted in traveling, I began to capture other products for fun. Your tips are always valuable, easy to understand and most likely to be applied without tons of xtra gear. Thank you 🙏🏻
This is really cool! These are actual tips (layout, composition, light, among other things) are going to come handy. I wish I could see another video of your awesome work, which is not footwear-specific.
quick tip for you when climbing on kitchen stone countertops. The weakest point of any counter is always at the front and back of the sink. if you must climb on counters, do so where the vertical sides of the base of a cabinet connect to the top of the counter. then no chance you will ever break the stone. Suck to work for $500 but the have to pay back the owner of the place $12,000 to replace a countertop. just stay off is the best advice I can give anyone. use ladders if you must get higher for the shot or the setup.
great tips Evan! We started using these tips for our photos for our instagram and instagram. love the way you use the denim as an added texture for the sneaker to pop
Can you do a video on the business end of this? That’s 10 pairs pair week, how many images of each pair... what angles are they expecting, that’s 10 different set builds, you need to buy material for each set or source it, then retouching of said images. What are the deliverables, how was it negotiated? This is the stuff you tubers are not talking about and that’s the part part timers struggle with.
Great video first time I tried product photography I sucked, but just watching that gave me so many ideas and also areas where I need to experiment with more. Thank you!
This was such a valuable and informative video - thank you!! I’m a content creator for a big sports retailer and i mostly shoot content with people, but i’ve been asked to do some product shots for shoes for some of the brands we work with (nike, adidas, asics etc) and this was so helpful!! Incredible work! ☺️
First of all I love you’re place decor was definitely inviting !! I really appreciate how you presented this, it was almost like calming in a sense . like when you walk into Starbucks it has a certain ambience about it yea you did that !! Oh Yeah shoe game was on point too you should consider incorporating some more lifestyle content .
I used to post on Instagram on food and watching this vid made me laugh as i use to do all this crazy kinda stuff for fun, now i need it for my first product, thx some great tips!
Awesome content Evan! 5 years of experience condensed into a short and sweet video. Quick question: How did you get to do product photography for your local shoe store? Did you just walk into the store and ask if they needed photos to be taken? Thanks in advance.
Just starting to get into recreational product photography and your videos are really inspiring. My main focus are wrist watches. Would to see/learn how you approach watch photography given how small and how much glare they can create. Thanks!
You are super inspiring Evan! Always enjoy and learning from your vids!!👏👏🙏 I can honestly say that you have helped me become a better photographer🤙 Thank you!
Everything you said I believe in. This is the first I have run across your video. I liked hearing your story. Local shoe store and your photos were awesome…. But I am excited that this is your job. I am struggling to get an opportunity to shoot products…..I don’t believe my photos our horrible…. Just trying to remain positive…. But it’s getting harder to do…. Do you have a video about the business aspect? Or anyone else posting on this video have recommendations? I have been trying literally for months and nothing…..I am open to suggestions…
Hey, at minute 5:57 you were using some keyboard select combination to highlight fill areas in I assume Content Aware? Was wondering how you were making those selections? Thank you!!
Plan to get into Retail Product Photography, this video definitely helped. Ready to make that push. 😅 Ready for the detailed video, because never can have too much info. 😁
Lol, my job literally consists of taking the products, and putting them up against a white or black backdrop, and handing them over to the designers once I'm done. Haven't had the chance or briefs to take product photos with external elements like fruits, coffee or cups yet.
Good video. I was looking to take good product photography and people to buy the photos and hang them on their walls. Not sure if that's a thing but I'm trying to think out of the box.

Thanks for the tips! Would love to see a more detailed video, especially pertaining to color correction in product photos. 😊

That's awesome bro. Same here! Keep grinding
Whats your instagram?
Hey can u share your journey up until now?

This video slaps! I do product photography for a bunch of e-commerce brands and you hit an absolute homerun on this video. Earned the sub.

Love the Vid! and would love more videos expanding on product photography.

Never stop creating and follow what interests you. It all builds over time!
I knew you were good, but explaining the science and psychology behind product photography, and how you, as the artist, specifically conceptualize, shoot, and edit.. I'm just blown away.
Haha well thanks! It didn’t exactly start that way, I kinda slowly developed a mindset for it!
Love a video presenter that is all about what they're presenting and less about annoying fluff in the presentation. I wathched to the end and got good tips.

I actually find retouching very satisfying especially when you take the extra step of working with layers.
Damnn! I started street photography because of you 10 months ago and product photography 1 month ago and now you made a video about it. I really appreciate the videos you create for the new generation of photographers! You are the goat in photography, much love!!

Amazing material! Thank you for your knowledge!
Great video. I'd definitely watch more detailed product photography videos.
Love your work mate, would love to see how you utilise the Aputure rgb LEDs in product shots, whether it’s as fill, to help colour pop ect..
I don’t understand how this type of content is free. just one question about lighting. which one is better, flash or continuous lighting?
I do portraits, I'll admit. Even product photography for my ebay is a chore. I'll try more though. Thanks Evan
