My guess is that the duckies dont detect the pit floors as a surface they can stand on, so the only thing they see is the void underneath, that might be why they avoid it

I believe this is a glitch caused by hitbox obstacle blockage the reason he can't run on it is because it's not a set pathway area that's also the reason he stops trying to chase you tdlr: he's not scared he's just too weak to take an upward step
