US Ammunition Crisis As Iran Grows Bolder | News Round-Up

  • Published on Apr 17, 2026
  • In this news round-up of the week for Friday March 13th 2026. Pentagon insiders reveal that Trump's war on Iran has burned through years of critical munitions in two weeks of his illegal war on Iran. And this could seriously weaken the US in dangerous times. As the Pentagon tries to isolate and damage AI company Anthropic for ethical restrictions on what its system will do, Microsoft has stepped out, risking billions in government contracts, to stand alongside it. And Trump's threats and insults against Canada continue to backfire as Mark Carney's government comes close to an overall parliamentary majority.

Iran has mines and it's shown previous willingness to use them. In other news I believe that Trump, that very stable genius, retired the 4 minesweepers in Bahrain. That might be a bit of a problem then, I wonder who else might have expertise in sweeping mines. The despised free loading NATO navies perhaps?

    • @stephenpickering8063

Very true. Ever since the 'tanker war' in the 1980's when Iran didn't have the resources to close the straits against western will to keep them open there's been concerns about securing oil and gas supplies. - Arguably even back to 73 and the 1st 'oil shock' when OPEC showed how vulnable much of the world was to disruption. Plenty of talk and presumably plans made for how to keep supply lines open, which became more and more of a risk as Iran git stronger in missiles and drones.
So what master plans did the genius's in the current US administration have for when at attacked Iran inevitably moved to play that card? "Duh we never thought of that."😲

Regarding history, HItler believed that the Soviet Union was a rotten structure and all that was required was to push in the front door would bring down the entire structure. See how it worked. Second, I am surprised that the Pentagon has refused to learn from the Ukrainian war, where cheap, multiple drones are devastating very expensive tanks. Apparently, they are simply too smart.

The cost difference in ammo reminds me of a history lesson. Late in the Middle Age, the visigoths (?) were so sure of their position in the world that they started wearing armor and weapons made of gold to show how rich they were. Then they faced real warriors with steel weapons. Guess who won?
The modern version? The US seems to have fallen into the trap of making flashy weapons that show how rich the country is, instead of effective ones.

You may just as well negotiate with Hitler about not invading Poland because he had that already planned and ready to go all else being merely a smokescreen. Theres also the slight matter of the US having killed his father, mother, wife and possibly other relatives so he's maybe, just maybe, not ready for sit down talks with the US just now. Trump has dug himself and the US into a very, very big hole.
