Woah, the sound and the gear of the guitar legends of LA in the 80's... Great!
I wish I had the same rig!!!
I can't believe I came all the way here from a forum and this was the resulting rack. This has been my favorite tone video for a while and now it's all coming full circle!
All I need is the rack and stereo power amp... I can't believe I have this stuff just sitting in my bedroom for years but watching this certainly inspires me to put the old rig together again...
-11-L/+13-R PITCH DETUNE. It is very important.
Love your tones..... Love your channel name....slick....your really a guy that just loves the old gear like me
Thank you. Yes I do. :)
Sheesh Dave. Total Landau - Richard Marks era - tone at te first. Totally nailed it. As always, killer tones and killer playing. My jaw still drops when I hear you play & hear your tones buddy, no different than first time I did when we were kids. Still loving my board you did for me last year. Gig after gig, I get compliment after compliment on my tones and the quality of your work and Roy's too!
Thanks so much Pete. I always loved your tones and your guitar layers on music you produced. The Belmont days were great-every day was a new piece of rack gear and daily tone chasing.
Thanks Dave. Indeed it was!
I hear some GIANT! :)
Compressor---EQ----TC 1210----SPX 90 Pitch Detune----Delay 500ms 250ms----Hall Reverb.
What amazing tones! I love the sound right at 2:01 when you switch to the bridge pickup.
Thanks.
I've always dreamed of a rack setup like this, Incredible.
Very special tone of 80's congredulation i was inspiration
Great job guys! I know Todd's going to love his new rig!
Best, Big Mike
oh lord...gorgeous tone!
Awesome tones, perfect for my favourite era.
Thanks. Dimarzio Virtual Vintage. 410 NM, 409 B.
unbeliebale how you can get all that clarity and treble in this sound without EVER getting harsh, not even in the bridge pickup! how do you do that?
man your good doing this
Lol... how do you do that Lol...
Compression.
I hear some GIANT!
Let the WInd Blow by the Imperials, very cool!
Wow, I heard that, too! I use to sing that track years ago. Was that Landau, or Huff on the original?
@@godawg1023 99% sure it was Dann Huff. He usually did the stuff for the Imperials. One of Dann’s best studio performances was on Michael W Smith’s The Big Picture imho. It’s a master class on 80’s guitar tone. Blessings...
@@funkystudiocat blessings back to you, brother! Michael w Smith’s “Secret Ambition” is one of my favorite Huff solos of all tune, but you’re right, Big Picture was a tour de force. Chris Rodríguez did a great job on the live record, as well! The extended solo on the live version of “Strong and courageous” is amazing.
Hi, love this rack. Totally LA Session players from the eighties. Could you tell me what your signal chain and presets are for the first patch when you start playing? Thanks for your time.
Jamie
You would need a TC1210 and a Yamaha SPX90. Iam using a EQ to give a litlle bit of sparkle to the clean.
I am using the SPX 90 for a pitch shift. It has a certain sound to it. It adds brightness as well.
thank you!
Best Sound Around.
Wow! One of the best tones i heard so far. Spectacular! Is your compressor in front of the amp and reverb/delay/modulations in the loop? Thank you!
Thanks. The signal chain is as follows: Kasha Rockmod Preamp---L1 DBX 160X Comp----L2 Audioarts Parametric EQ----L3 Hush IIC Chan.1----L4 Hush IIC Chan.2---Volume pedal---L11 Dimension D----L12 TC 1210---MIX1 return----MIX2 input----send to----L5 SPX90---L6 SDE-330 Delay---L7 PCM70----return to MIX2---out to HH VX 450 power amp. Thanks. L.A. Sound Design Board and Case. Boards are 135.00, Cases are 395.00.
@RACKDOCTOR
You are truly a kind person. In Japan, people like you have talent does not exist.
All right. As you say the SPX90 immediately available. SPX90 way that you are using any part of this video? I do see the dark SPX input.
Amazing tones. The signal path is a bit confusing.
Yes.
Pitch Change C. Left Fine -11, Right Fine +13. Left pitch 0, right pitch 0.
@RACKDOCTOR
Doctor, thank you inspiration.
There is one last missing weapons.
It is 4100EQ. It does not exist anywhere. Wheatstone do not exist.
Instead of those weapons would not?
TC1140?
@RACKDOCTOR
How are you? Rino Tooru is your advice I purchased the SPX90. There are several programs Pitch. A to D do you recommend which of the?
Made me think of Toy Matinee or starting a tribute to Toy Matinee band but never leave the garage. Very mid 90's Alex Lifeson Presto esk...Landau-esk 1987 esk.. A Dimension D and a 1210 just because you had to
Vintage MXR Dynacomp, Line 6 Space Chorus, KR Megavibe.
Thanks. 4th Button in.
Hi folks! I've been trying to figure out how to connect all the racks together with a Line Mixer (I'm new to the game). Would you mind making a flow chart that shows how they're connected in this video? The signal chain in the description is pretty helpful but I'm still kinda confused. Thanks in advance.
sounds amazing! what head/cab are you using for clean/lead sounds?
Thanks. Kasha Rockmod I preamp and HH poweramp.. The cabs are Pacific 1x12 with Vintage 30's.
@RACKDOCTOR
Thank you. so much. Do you care about has not been a lot of unpleasant questions? If a little is good, tell me. What is the use spx90 detune sound as? If so, I'm got a eventide, spx90 Are you better than that? Let me tell you why. But okay, I have reflected upon the killer tone. So if you say spx90 eventide is better, I'm going to get it. Why is it sad I do not live in LA.
HI- great sound! and great gear for sure. My question is about the speakers - those little cabs on the sides - what are they? I can't quite see the name on the front. Also what are you using for the power amp? I am presuming that the speakers are the ones we are hearing and that they are not active. Thanks for your time and reply in advance…Cheers, Dan -
Thanks. They are Pacific Woodworks 1x12 cabs with Celestion Vintage 30's. The power amp used was a HH VX450.
What are all those MIX 1, send to MIX 2…etc meaning? I wanna emulate this type of rig with pedals so I tried to figure it out, but there’s just a bunch of ins and outs on CAE mixer, i don’t see any send or return…too complicated😂😂
Hello. For clean sounds you are using an equalizer. If you are used to using the equalizer How does this affect how much? What is the essential effect when you take out a sound like?I've been wondering what I put in the equalizer. Please tell me how to make magical sounds really great.I have the following equipment. and the lexicon pcm80 eventide eclipse, dbx160a, cae mixer, caa3 + se, vht, effect gizmo. In order to give you sound like what else do I need? 1210?
Landau?
hi cool sounds. what is the setting on the dimension D???
I pretty sure it is 409 N/M, 410 Bridge.
Do you find wet/dry better than straight stereo for these types of tones?
For these type-Stereo is better.
+RACKDOCTOR FANTASTIC SOUND !!!!!
+Arya Pradana Thank you.
how do you set pitch shift? and how is it important for the landau chorus clean tone?
According to your experience how do you think a wheatstone Audio arts 4200b paramtric eq compare with the 4100b?
great!! why the volume pedal post pre/comp/eq and not in front of the preamp?
Cause you can control your volume without affecting your gain like that.
VV 409 Heavy Blues 2.
Welcome to 1985! Let the cheese spread...
Should be pretty close.
are the pickups in series??
Those things are so complex... I feel like I would have to be a sound engeneer to know how to work those dozen racks... All I know how to do is to plug a guitar into the amp and get the low mid and highs in the right spot :(
That's what so sad about society today we have become simpletons
What is the second riff he plays after Endless Summer Nights?
Imperials-Let The Wind Blow.
Thank you!
what is the line mixer ?
Custom built L.A. Sound Design rack interface using two RJM Mini Mixers inside.
Anyone know the song played at 1:00?
ruclips.net/video/0pzXcSKAY2U/видео.html
Is this Mike playing?
Nope.
not trying to sound like a troll but you could save lots of rack space just getting an Axe-Fx but nice tones and good video
Thanks. Unfortunately an AxeFX can't replicate the true tonality of vintage rack FX or tube preamps.
Yeah, Richard Marx!
the pedalboard ???
Custom Audio Electronics RS-10.
Bitchin'!
sounds like eighties ... so I don't like, but as always amazing rack !
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks.
