      Hi depeinds on the level of teaching you are aming at. for instance are aiming for expaining how your move the bike though the obsticals, and how to find path lines, this is differnt to how to control the bike (e.g. bunny hops) so that you can do the moves you mention. so may be list the bike skills you need to under stand, so that you can tackle the run you are show casing. but that cna be in cations not spoken. so mostly aim to expain, how to chose your path line, why you chose that line, and why you chose that move over an comparable move if apraoate. which is hwat you did in your vidoe. you could go into detail, and brake a bigern track down, then move up to the next level, fora few vidoes so that peoaple can learn the extream basics, this lets them learn the extreams stuff, from a well inder stod base line, so that you can then focuse on the stuff peopel liek me really coem here for and thgat you tacking fun and chanlaging tracks witha secableadn detailed alances of why you chose that path, over an other. hope this helps.?

    You are such a well spoken person Dale. Teacher material through and through. My biggest take away from this excellent instructional video is line choice, line choice, line choice. I think I instinctively knew much of your advice on line setup (i.e. go wide with the front wheel to prevent the rear wheel getting hung up on the inside), but I’m going to be much more consciously aware for my next several rides. Great video! And congrats on the KOM! I wasn’t sure it would happen with the slide you took 1/3 through the lap.

    Love this new content. One thing that you could add is showing/suggesting the easiest line compared to whats fastest on that section. They are often the same line, however in some cases the fastest line involves hitting some moves which would make some riders less confident about what they are doing, and without confidence a crash is more likely.

    A drop vs roll can also be decided by your arm length. If it is higher than the length of your arm, the front wheel will pull your shoulders down, making it possible to OTB. Anything that's shorter than your arm, just "lay" on the handlebar on the top of the drop, and let the front wheel drop, following it with your hands.

    • @DaleStone
      @DaleStone  Год назад +2

      That's just for sharp steps, as that rule wouldn't translate to larger features (proper rock rolls) with smoother compressions. Even the example in the video is slightly longer than this rule! 🙂

  • @houseofhigherself
    @houseofhigherself Год назад +2

    This feels like learning a language as you're gauging conditions in every moment. You can know some of what you're up against, but I imagine it's still very dependent on one's intuition when riding these technical trails, too?
    Like do you have moments where you make a decision different than what the condition may convey?

    • @DaleStone

      Intuition comes with time and practice! The more experience you have to draw from, the more accurately you can make split second decisions. 🙂

    Really enjoyed this. The move in 1:28 is something I've seen in a quite a few of your videos (as well as vanCan and especially dangerours dave). How do you do a drop with zero speed? There's even some where you guys do this pounce move from being fully stopped at the edge of drop. Im new to riding and drops feel easy as long as you got the speed. I've tried experimenting with going slow and it can really pitch you forward hard. Seems like I've run into plenty of scenarios where this would be a useful skill to have.

    • @DaleStone
      @DaleStone  Год назад +1

      It's a tough move to explain, but it's definitely very useful haha. First thing is even from a standstill, a lot of these trails are steep enough to gain the small amount of speed needed to manual-drop off of this kind of thing, but when that's not an option you have to weight shift and apply your brakes at the right time to "rock" the momentum into your bike to start going. Then it's a matter of pulling the correct amount backwards at the right time haha. Practice!

    • @easystyle4747
      @easystyle4747 Год назад +1

      @@DaleStone Would love to see a video breaking this down in detail. To clarify, this clip of yours is exactly this pounce move im referring to: ruclips.net/video/Rsqn320kDXo/видео.html&start=107

    • @darrenlott5810
      @darrenlott5810 Год назад +1

      When you say you pull the brakes and rock, do you mean from a stop you hold the brakes and pull your body forward and then release the brakes and shove the bike forward manual style off the edge of the drop? Do you ever use a pedal wheelie from stopped off a drop?

    • @DaleStone
      @DaleStone  Год назад +2

      That's more or less it yeah. Sometimes a wheelie drop works too, but you're then at the mercy of your chain not snapping, and unless you time your pedal stroke perfectly it's harder to stay balanced and accurate with where you'll be landing.
