  • A historic view of Sherborne in Dorset during 1957 starting at the bottom of Cheap Street, then near the Abbey, then back to Cheap Street , past the old Carlton Cinema and finishing at Newland. Easier to park in those days for sure.

    Wow. The biggest difference is being able to see the roads. It's impossible to get a car free photograph in Sherborne now. Even with the lockdown (April 2020).

    Many thanks for posting this old film! It reminds me of when I visited Sherborne in 1990. It still had somewhat of a calm, rural village feel to it. When I got back again in 2014, it felt like a suburb of London with hordes of cars and people. I prefer the earlier version of Sherborne.
