Keep Travelling, Keep Living
All good points. They have their uses, particularly touring, where you overnight in a different place each day. But if you want to base yourself in one place and do day trips out, you have to strike camp each day, which becomes tedious and then set up again. A ground tent is much better for an extended stay. Thanks for the videos, I am enjoying them.
@@CampingCo unfortunately, if you have a week at a particular base camp and want to go game viewing to different locations, like here in Africa, you have to pack up the other gear too, like furniture, side awnings, shower cubicle etc. They arent the ultimate in all situations.
Valid points. Here are few more points why I don't like roof tents:
1. You can't do stealth camping with roof tents. Car camping as an idea is still new to most Indians. You have to explain it to others and also take permission for parking which I don't like.
2. Safety is a big concern. We have stray animals problem and high crime rate also in certain places. One would feel safe sleeping inside, especially with kids and family.
👍 agreed thanks for input...😊
Safety is a concern in any kind of camping, rooftop or ground. And in that context, rooftop is a little safer than ground because of the access limitations
Tutiye dono hi logic bakwas hain...Ground camping is highly unsafe from Animal , snakes.
Ground camping also required permission..while Parkings can allow a car but can't allow for Ground camping.
@@DOLIWAL Prabhu ji plz read my comment again. I wasn't speaking in favour of ground camping either. I am in favour of car camping (inside) only.
High crime rate?
Very true, it increases the aerodynamic drag and if its heavy then centre of gravity increases 🙏🏻 and roll over chances increase, good information. Keep up bhai.
Thanks for the support
Finally finally someone spoke about this issue. I was so pissed off watching youtube filled with RTT videos on normal cars.
Always wonder do these guys have any idea its risky for car structure... For me , if i am risking the car strength via A,B or C pillar permanently i am dropping the idea on the spot !
RTT is fun but only five vehicles are successful for that : Tata Xenon , Isuzu V-Cross , Gypsy (Soft top you can customise the rear section) , Bolero Camper and Scorpio Getaway.
Baki sach bolu to yeh RTT ek - do baar e acha lagta hai , when family starts getting annoyed due to no washroom and shower etc... that's when you think about doing camping by the day and coming back to a "Room" by night
Pillars are designed for crash strength which is far greater than load strength. I don’t think you should worry too much about that
And thanks for the points you gave as a Scorpio owner about the aerodynamics and the RTT. I was seriously considering to go for a RTT.
Thanks
@@CampingCo what's that?
Your camping in India video was so enlightening. Must have burst bubble of many armchair travellers.
This is going to be same.
😆 let's see
Though I am age wise senior to you , but surely on road front you are guru to me. Yours 10 point advice for long distance drive should be heard by all specially by new traveller
I totally agree with you because as most indian things are modified with jugad, overruling safety, to save on cost. Not even just overland tents, but buying offset rims, cheap Chinese alloys, removing head rest from seats etc. All show with no go.
Thanks for understanding 😊
Very very informative, logical, truthfully and beautifully explained. Thanks a lot.
True , roof top tents are not for everyone . But then there are many who cant sleep inside their cars , they find it too clostrophobic . And laying a tent on the ground has its own drawbacks . So its a personal preference ...and as you mentioned never get bowled over by the utube videos
Exactly. Do what suits you the best 👌
You are right. I have the same opinion. It is just a fad . It inconvenient. I have noticed, in India people like to do something, which stands out, look cool, look different. Forget about practicality
true to all points and what I've observed people are mostly glamping not camping with all the bells n whistles...
Good information. Make a video of the information of how the bed and kitchen box is installed inside the car.
There are complete installation videos uploaded on my channel. You can check it out
There's a company called roofden overland in maharashtra ig . They have some special kind of structure in the front to solve the wind drag problem and also their rtt is below 30kgs. So I am not hesitant to go with that. Others are also quite expensive but this roofden tent is what I found to be best so far. Just google you'll find
Can you provide site address
You are Right bro I'm working in Qatar I waz using also but it is useless my God bless you always stay blessed brother.
Thanks
I am 57 years old male person. I am planning for rooftop tent for my car . Your video open my eyes about rooftop tent. What can do for my hills station trip. Please guide me. कार के अन्दर सेटअप लगा लू क्या? प्लीज़ रिप्लाई.
Agreed !! Sidhi Baat No Bakwas Perfect 🙌👌👌
🙏 thanks
Diesel 10 years....petrol 15 years......speed max 80 km/hour. Maybe 3/4times a year. I guess buddy you need to calculate again......but for me putting a tent on ground is unsafe from wild animals & bad element humans. I do agree with aerodynamics but I disagree with other stuff.
I liked ur 5th point.
Centre of attraction for theft!
On the contrary,
Entire tent with car
could be at the risk of theft 😂
I definately believe that.
Otherwise remaining 4 topics are basically anybody's guess.
As an adventurer, these are calculated risks taken with a pinch of salt..
I was looking forward for some exotic piece of information on B pillars.
Thanks for explaining much detail 👍 really need to think much details...
Thanks 😊
Thanks a lot! I was planning for the same but after watching your video I will not go for RTT.
Very informative video. Please also share your views on roof luggage box.
Practical points and good video. Kudos!!
Thanks 😊
Awesome explanation
Glad you liked it👍
Tell me how do you manage to disengage you spare wheel with the drawers in place?
I'll share a short clip on that on Instagram by this weekend...
Very sensible analysis! Keep up the good work!
AB ... And after YR long travel experience in VanLife .... Can U give tips me ... That ... If one or two person can stay in RoofTop tent at night .... will safe ... if they park their Van ...on HWY Restaurants or Petrol Pump Parking or in Safe place of inside city .... What is YR guidance about this my query .
AB ... I also try to think that safety at night in Rooftop Tent (May in Groups any one can safe but if only two person try to camp in city or outer part ... it will not safe ... It is my worry) ... But ... as per u mention Extra load on Carrier as well as car or van still I personally not agree ... Because .... in every cities there is ....Cash Logistics Vans (Mostly Roof modify and increase height one + feet ... specially Bolero) .... If not practical to increase Height or extra load on Roof ... Than ... This Cash Logistics Companies not Modify their Van.... and use very easily.
Increasing height is one thing. Putting extra load on the height instead of base is another. This increases center of gravity. If you put load on vehicle chasis, it can be managed. But putting load on Vehicle roof will put load on the pillars (a,b,c). This can damage the roof. For the Bolero's you are talking about, load is kept inside not on rooftop... hope this clarifies
Very nice and practical ellaborations. 👍🏻🙏
😊
I understand it is not safe to sleep inside car with engine running due to CO or CO2 poisoning. Mosquitoes will not allow you to sleep with windows open. What are your suggestions
It's not safe in start vehicle if it is parked in a closed garage/space.. in open grounds it's not an issues. I have mosquito nets that can be fitted on windows and then windows can be opened if I don't want to start the car
Insurance ka problem ho sakta hai, because modifying original body structure is not recommended

very informative video, thanks for making (y)
Hi, I have recently started following your videos. If you can help me with the performance fact of scorpio on hill driving, or precisely on steep hills with full load. I have started travelling to mountain and planning to buy new scorpio classic (primarily bcoz of rare wheel drive requirement) do you feel 4x2 scorpio is capable enough to drive on leh ladak mountain? Or any high altitude roads? Your genuine experience would be helpful to me to take the final decision on scorpio.
You can check my travel vlogs, specifically the recent ones to Ladakh, Zanskar and Spiti, hopefully it will answer all your questions in details. Just for info, mine is a 4x2
Very informative, I also have scorpio 4x4
bro got a scorpio and is talking about structural integrity. 0/5 in crash test XD
Great Explanation. dear sir.
😊
Thanks for this vodeo. You are right bro.
Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks a lot. Very informative.
😊
Logical enough 🤘🤘
Is Rooftop Tent Suitable for Hardtop Mahindra Thar??? As it has Limited Space inside as compared to Scorpio. And Also For Toyota Innova . Please Guide....
Very valid points. Thanks
Love your experiments and demonstrations 👏👏
Bhai apki batan theoretically thik hai but practically abhi tk kisi car main roof tant k bare main koi negative views nhi aye, practically esa kuchh nhi hai
Correctly u said
Good points
these are good points.
Thanks
CPPH L&T
1) Costly
2) Performance Issues
3) Pillar Damage
4) Height Issues
5) Law and Theft
That's why most people in USA make/buy camping trailers.
Your points about centre of gravity and drag are spot on. I've a Thar, and if i want to camp I'd rather take out the rear seats and keep the tent there along with other stuff. Thanks for the objective analysis.
@@CampingCo Sure I will.
Mr Bond I agree with u chote bro pr Covid ne duniya ko yeh vata diya
Like mahindra LIVE YOUNG LIVE FREE bro only thing is center of gravity baki there is so many ways 2 go around 2 modified there is nothing wrong with RTT bottom line is live the life like king size b gonna live only once there is no 2nd chance money can solve many things chote bro love u all love u my little sister 🙏🙏🙏cu on the road someday from Vancouver bc Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks
very informative video... thanks
Good points.
Bhai totally agree with YOU.
Pickup truck are best vehicles for rooftop tents....and if you are driving in the the high way their is an issue with aerodynamics..but when you drive off road the aerodynamics play no role
& im on road from last 20 years don’t know how many km I put on the road with 18 wheeler 🚛 in heavy snow ❄️ in -45 -50c temperatures up north Canada 🇨🇦
Very good point &comant
Only one valid point is to know your car piller weight loading capacity before buying rooftop tent. Rest are faaltu ke..
I am planning to buy air bed for car available on various online shopping platform but not sure whether they work or not?
If you are talking about that 4x2 feet inflatable bed that can fir on rear seat then It's OK for kids.. not good for adults. I had it but gifted it to a friend
@@ABVentures Thanks for update Ashish.

Whoever is converting his SUV or minivans in to a Caravan or mobile home are very much aware of all the problems mentioned in the vdo. A layman or generally people doesn't do conversions. It's a spacial project and needs lot of understanding.
VDO forget to mention the electrical modification problems too.
A Caravan conversion is a compromise from the best performances of the vehicle meant for.
Oh really? You think majority of people know stuff here? 80% drivers in India don't know even how to change tyres, let alone the terms 'drag' and 'center of gravity'. Most modifications here are done using 'jugaads' by local workshops without any consideration for safety or durability. No one cares about quality if it is shiny and chrome plated.. take example of cheap Chinese knockoff alloys doing rounds in automobile markets...
Bro you are right but your point only understand engering boys so
क्या jimmy के लिये बना हुआ bed मिल्ते है
Informative 👍👍
i think roof top camp for mahindra thar 4x4 worth it
I agree with you sir
🙂
but bro some roof tent have hard cover and curved shape box this reduces the drag
ruclips.net/video/IX70BAkEgb0/видео.html
but kaafi costly hoti hai
sabse best option hai pick up truck agar camping ka shauk hai
topic starts from 3:00 minutes
Nice
Good Points...
I install 4 person bala rooftop tent in my Innova.Jo hoga baad me dekha jayega
That's okk. Waise bhi it's my opinion. Everyone can experience their own. Hope yours turn out better than mine.😊 best of luck
Ashish ji baat me dum h technically.
Thanks sirjee 😊
DIY.. u can do it for lessthen 20k
Yes I can. But I don't feel the need or actual usage of it... so not in near future 😕
u dont have to have complete setup. ucan just have foldable platform. when needed regular ground tent can be used on that.agree on stronger carrier need for it..
@@AvinashKM okk. Will see. Currently working on an awning setup.
Nice। मैं भी फालतू चक्करों में आ गया था
RTO approved bhi tou nhi hoga ye... ek luggage carrier m tou police challan kat deti hai...
Having a luggage carrier is official in India and having an RTT is similar to having a luggage carrier on a vehicle. It’s just that no all are aware of this and we fear the administration and we overreact to it.
When an RTT is installed on a vehicle roof you still create with metal sheet in front so that air flow is not affected similar to what luggage matadors have.
Roof rack with luggage are always an attraction for cops. They stop you and start with it, then gradually shifting to other things. Overall a waste of time and energy... so better avoid..
India as no camping site, Rooftop tent prices high.
No SUV capable in India Rooftop tent.
Only ISUZU v cross
TOYOTA Hilux.
Capable SUV.

People's who spending more then 100 grand money on rooftop tents so you mean they are fool right ? all of you point were right but people's wants enjoyment and they can spend atleast 50 k or 100 grand more only for enjoyment if everyone start think like you so indian tourism industry will cresh down 🙏
Yes that happens when you blindly follow youtubers and ignore logic. The tourism industry is dependent on roof top tents? What about the hotels and homestays?? A thing like RTT is meant for camping in remote areas like Ladakh or Spiti. You know what runs the economy there?? Small homestays and shacks selling food. Locals there depend on the tourists for earnings. Then some some idiot trends a video showing a tent and cooking food and everyone starts following them. What will the happen to the tourism industry then?? My car has all the amenities from kitchen to bed, still I prefer to stay in hotels and eat in restaurants coz it's the exchange of money that boosts economy. RTT is not meant for everyone.
@@ABVentures im talking about adventure not hotel and homestay for couples And family and whats about for 2 people if i have best option of RTT so i will go with RTT for take my adventures to next level what you have or don't have in your car its your problem i don't care i also buy food from small sellers in UK or other places im just telling you don't spread hates about RTT i know everything have 2 faces but its only about fun and adventure
thank you take care of yourself
