Correct, the VoDs are uploaded not too long after the stream happened, but given our schedule, they remain private until it's their turn on the queue. Watching them call a mysterious black liquid "ichor" when the lighthouse has literal tanks of oil that you use daily is...... something.
First time I see the black goop associated with the oil and I've seen a couple reviews and playthroughs of the game
It does make sense but also there's a huge monster that might be gooping everywhere and that comes to mind first
I think they generally used whale oil in lighthouses, which normally wasn't solid black as far as I know? But also you can't really depict clear oil in this style of graphics so if it is oil they might've made it black for visibility

I'm sure no one will see this, but I watched this right after the Dec 11, 2022 stream where Julia also mentions both finding the indie horror game they play through GabSmolders (Deathwatch) and the painting Saturn Devouring His Son (again, not knowing the actual name, to even more hilarious result). Love you guys and love the consistent quality lol

I just want to say I also been watching a lot of Gab Smolders. She's become my go to for horror let's play. It just fills me with a special kind of joy to see people I follow also watch other people I follow.
Also totally get the feeling of not wanting to ruin a good game by watching too much of a let's play. There's a few I had to put aside till I played the game myself.
Gonna recommend reading the souther reach series to anyone who enjoyed the spooky lighthouse game. Really messes with your brain in a great way, lots of mystery, horror and cosmic existential stuff. Also just well written books. Give them a go!

What I'm gaining from this is that the temple has given the lighthouse a sorta power where those who see the light end up turning into a moth person.
The moth that you eventually play as was the previous lighthouse caretaker. Idk about the chest though.

Look, there's something cool about retro-style graphics. But when the graphic fidelity is so frickin low that you can't tell what happens in a cutscene, that's just laziness on the dev's part. That last cutscene was such a bummer because WHAT WAS THAT and it right got my goat!!!

i came here to ask if you guys were thinking about playing the update to this game, but I'm not sure you'd want to, because the director's cut near completely changes the story. I love the version you played, and I'm really not feeling all the changes in the new one personally. That being said, I'd definitely watch if you played the new one.

This may be my favorite stream. I keep coming back to it.
My guess is that there was actully 3 lifehouse keepers, the guy who rows you in, who found the temple and the box, got converted, and is the one who rows away with the box to the ship, and the one feeding you to the moths, then there is the second one, who you play as first in the tutorial and the first chase through the tunnels, and then finally the second one who you play last whose sacrifice led to whatever happened at the end.
