Defenders do not have to be “set” to take a charge. By rule, to establish an initial legal guarding position, a defender must have two feet on the floor and their chest facing their opponent. After that, the defender may move laterally or obliquely to maintain legal guarding position. Again, there is no requirement that a players feet must be stationary or that they be “set”
#2: excellent block call; #4: like how the two officials came together after a double whistle; #5: trail called outside his primary; the center official was right on top of the play (please don't do that to me bro). Trail also used the wrong mechanic: should have been a push foul. All calls were good, great job.
1's a Charge. Defender establishes legal position and gets plowed. 2's a Block. Has to establish legal guarding position without impeding, and do so to give the "charging" player a chance to do otherwise. 3's a Block. Same thing. He's too late. Has to establish that position earlier. 4's a Charge, and good communication to check between the officials before confirming the call. He did, in fact, in this case, get to legal position before and maintained it. 5's an illegal screen. Call's result is correct, just not sure if that one is a true block/charge. 6's a charge. You can see the kid's already getting set to get into position to help, and gets mowed over after he does so. 7's a charge. And a classic one at that. Reminds me of the good ol' days of Forrest Larson and how he always taught his Blue Devils to take the charge.
Clearly the red team had been practicing taking charges haha Love the mechanics of the younger official. Think #4 was a block that should’ve been called by the lead rather than trail since he was in best position to see the lateral movement of the defender. Overall great crew!
1. He walked before the foul, so it's a turnover. 2. Charge, defender was set. 3. Block, the defender's feet are moving, but I am also ~70% sure the player shuffled his feet before the first pass. 4. Block, defender's feet are moving, 5. Charge, offensive player lowered his shoulder. 6. Charge, lowered the shoulder. 7. Charge, defender was set.
Abe how are you doing and I have All but 2 of these as Offensive Fouls! How can I go about watching more of these and also be able to comment on them as well along with using these to train with? Have a great day and I hope that we have a season.
Michael, thanks for subscribing to my channel. Hopefully my plays give you some good content for discussions with your group. Feel free to utilize my videos all you want. You can see them by going to my channel and bringing them up during your meetings. I too hope we have a season! Have a great week and hopefully a great season!
Disagree, think all 3 did a good job officiating their primaries and when no competitive machups where there, started working their secondary coverage areas
I agree with all of these calls. I love in play #4 that the Lead and T were slow to show and avoided a blarge situation.
And you are wrong
@@luis3aldana How am I wrong? Please explain.
@@chrisarnold6267the blocking foul wasn’t a block
My compliments to this crew. 7 block charges in one game? No small order! Nice work gentlemen.

1-5 very solid calls! 6 & 7 closer, but defensible.

Thanks for the video Abe! going to use in our association meetings!
Hope it helps. That's why I make these videos!
On #7, I thought that the defender actually guarding the shooter fouled the shooter PRIOR to the charge.
1. He walked before the foul, so it's a turnover.
2. Charge, defender was set.
3. Block, the defender's feet are moving, but I am also ~70% sure the player shuffled his feet before the first pass.

5. Charge, offensive player lowered his shoulder.
6. Charge, lowered the shoulder.
7. Charge, defender was set.
wow! in one game..
All calls were correct great refereeing
Charge
Block
Block
Charge
Block
Block
Charge
I agree with all of them except #6. I would of called a block as he got there late in my opinion and wasn’t set.
I agree

This crew needs to study primary coverage areas to lower double whistles and whistles from far away coverage

ALWAYS A kAREN TOO KNIT PICK A POST
Charge, No call, Charge, Charge, Illegal Screen, Charge, Charge.
Yes sir!!
That’s the same thing I have on these plays
#3 I would have called Charge
I'm good with every call but would of called play 34 a Block instead
Wow. NONE of them know their primaries, do they?
