Winona was blessed to have so many great roles in the 90’s-Kim, Mina, May, Jo and Abigail. She was also going to play Mary Corleone but dropped out due to sickness and we all know who replaced her… : P

Saw this movie for the first time in 1995 on VHS. I was in 6th grade and my parents drug me to this get-together at a neighbor's house. It was Thanksgiving night and all the yuppies in the neighborhood were getting together for dessert. I was bored out of my mind so I poked around the house and made my way upstairs to their daughter's room. She was younger than me, and also bored with all the adult activities. Her parents had money and her room was decorated beautifully. Very 1990's classy with lace and florals and dollhouses and oak furniture. She had a little TV set in her room and her own VCR and a collection of VHS tapes. She said I could pick one to watch if I let her braid my hair. I chose this movie. What I thought was going to be one of the biggest bores ended up being one of the most memorable nights of my life. It feels like yesterday I was sitting on that mauve carpet while that little girl played with my hair and I was swept away by this magical, charming, endearing movie.

Oh, you wrote that so beautifully. You can really feel how much this movie means to you. I watched it for the first time yesterday and it brought out so many emotions that I cried. I have read 'Little women' when I was small (something in between 9 and 11 years old). I used to love this kind of books, from another time and at another place. I remember sitting in the living room or in my bed diving into these stories for hours on end and seeing one of my favourites on the screen reminded me of the way I saw the world as a child and of the image of love I had back then.

For years, my Mother told me read this book, but I never did. I have always been a Winona Ryder fan, and was laid up with a bad back at the this movie was released on tape. I fell in love with everything about the film. The story, set's, costumes, music. I couldn't get enough of it. When I recovered from my back injury, l asked every family member, friend and coworker if they had seen the film? After watching it more times then I could count, I finally read the book. The movie is beautiful and my favorite version on film, but no movie or t.v. special can do justice to the book. It is incredible and amazing. Mom was right. It is my favorite book. If you've never read it, don't hesitate as I did. Do yourself the best favor of your life. It will ever be with you. It's that great.

Sorry for my not perfect english, during the school I was not so talented to learn that language, because native German speakers are not a good idea to teach the English language 🙄🤔😉.

This movie came out not long after my now-late wife and I met. It was one of her favorite books and I am a life-long student of history, particularly the Civil War period, so we went to see it, eventually more than once. We enjoyed it for different reasons and it became one of our favorite movies from that era. She loved it for the story, and I for the setting and attention to period correct details, with the unfortunate exception of a few glaring errors.
I also enjoyed the movie, particularly the first half, but some aspects of the second half don't ring as true to me. I learned some reasons behind that second half awkwardness when I read LMA's biography, and how, when, and why the movie's source material was written.
During one of our trips to New England from the Midwest in the mid '90s, my wife and I went to Concord and toured Orchard House. During the tour, our six month old son got fussy and I took him outside so she could finish the tour. His cries briefly echoed through that old house on our way out, and I thought about how many crying babies Orchard House must have heard since its construction in c.1700. Btw, that fussy baby is now 29 years old and 6'5". 😄
To me, the '94 movie is the definitive version and cast of Little Women and will always remind me of my wife.
