This is an incredible setup, and it is everything I have wanted to do with mine! A family friend gave me a 2006 KLR 650, and I have been trying to get her ready to ride. I wish I lived near you for your guidance and wisdom. Keep up the awesome videos, and ride safe!
Thanks for watching and the nice comment, they are simple bikes to work on just stay after it and you’ll get it done, there is plenty of good info available on the KLR forum, any questions you ask will be answered, remember it just parts, nuts, bolts and screws nothing to be intimidated by. 💯🆒🫵🏼
nice project and a video. mine is year 2000 with the same 2k on speedometer. Primitive technology, easy to work on and fun to ride. And if you drop it and it gets scratched...who cares, it is KLR. Have fun with it.
Consider getting a rear brake master cylinder guard. The master cylinder is vulnerable being mashed or struck by a rock. I bought my 2003 brand new, and it’s setup a lot like yours. I ride a fair amount off road, so I run soft luggage. Those hard panniers can mess up a leg if you put your foot down off road, and your leg gets “behind” you. But overall, looks like a nice build! Hope you enjoy it!
Great bike, perfect setup, and you have a great style of explaining almost asmr lol! I just got a 2024 trying to start getting it right....got my pipe already then onto cases or bags
@@rustedjunkgarage3316 I just DK how crash bars on a KLR makes it awesome; you cant even get it going fast enough to crash it to do any kind of damage to it. I think zombie apocolypse, walking dead awesome. They had klr's in with the storm trooper guys.
Very nice job on your KLR! I am currently trying to locate a tank bag exactly like yours for my 1st Gen KLR.. Would you know where I could possibly locate one just like it? Any info that you could provide would be most appreciated, I live in the USA.
@@dcwebb1 The tag on the Bag says, Made Exclusively for Kawasaki Motors by Commercial Sewing Corporation US Torrington CT. 06790! That's all I could find. 👍
@@rustedjunkgarage3316 Thank you for the quick reply, much appreciated! I have a feeling (based on my initial search) that this is an older style of tank bag and might not be made in that style anymore. I really like how it covers the tank and is relatively small in size, just what I'm looking for. If I can't locate one just like it, would you consider selling it :)? Thanks again, LMK
Wow! Great job! The bike looks awesome. I can't wait to come check it out.
Thanks Craig, if I don’t like it I am giving it to you. 👍
You got a good deal! My '04 KLR cost me $3k last year, because I live in an area where anything dualsport comes at a premium. Love riding it, though!
Thanks for watching, building on a budget is always fun, especially in today’s economy. Ride safe.🫵🏼👍🆒

It needs a 6,000$ hydraulic magura clutch
I think the stock clutch will be ok, it may have an aftermarket clutch in it, has a real strong lever pull. Thanks for watching.👍
