The three biggest takeaways for me: 1) Nix isn't turning the ball over. 2) Nix is trusting his receivers more. 3) Nix is seeing the field a little better and he's not bailing on plays as quickly.
4) Troy Franklin needs to be cut -- 2 perfectly-thrown balls in the last 2 games that hit him in the hands and he drops it...unacceptable for a pro receiver, rookie or not.
Troy has been one of our best receivers the past two weeks, if anyone needs to be cut its LJH, get Frank in there to take those reps and actually get comfortable making those plays, not to mention both of those deep shots are probably just a tick overthrown, Bo will tell you that himself, Frank is a great talent who's showed a lot of progress already, give him some time.@diecastdestination1981
@@diecastdestination1981 plus I believe ge caught 5 of 5 against the Saints, he had a tough drop against the Raiders that may be what your referring to
even though it was the panthers, we're supposed to win big and we delivered. Bo's improvement week after week is really encouraging. let's see how he steps up against the big dogs on the next couple of weeks. LET'S GO BRONCOS!
This is the first game Bo showed everything you want to see with him. That throw to Trautman in the endzone was a beautiful throw! The catch was amazing as well. It is amazing what happens when a QB fixes his feet. Now, we just need to see it week in and week out. This game was beyond encouraging. Go Broncos!
The QB role vs the new NFL meta leans toward a Nix style QB. The easy long explosive plays all the time are done. You need a surgeon that can do a long shot if it presents itself.
@2008tmp I think there is a balance. Precision is always of the utmost importance. I don't think deep balls have ever dominated the game. They will always be needed, but they have never dominated the game. The vast majority of passes have always been short to intermediate throws.
@dokedoker3340 He was the NFL rookie of the month. The guy is getting better and better. He is developing the way good qb's do in their rookie year. It is not about who he is playing but more about the fundamentals of what he is doing. For instance, on that throw to Trautman in the endzone, he read the sluggo route, moved the safety with his eyes, then progressed to his second read, set his feet, and threw a beautiful strike in the one place he could put it.
Monday mornings are always Jenkins morning, win or lose. Of course, more fun when we win, but the tape breakdown is so good I come here even for losses. LFG Bo Nix!
Bo's growth is showing itself for sure. Now if he can play this calm and stay planted and in the pocket like in this game Denver should start seeing much better play from their offense
The throw to Trautman in the end zone looked like a very similar play to the first play of pre-season for Bo. This time he recognized when the safety left the middle of the field and delivered a great ball. Awesome to see his knowledge of the offense. I'm so excited for this team!
You could definitely see the time and effort that Nix spent improving his footwork and pocket presence on display yesterday. That was a phenomenal showing from the kid. He would have had over 400 yards through the air were it not for several horrid drops on perfectly thrown deep balls. To my eyes, he didn't throw a truly inaccurate pass all day and that's a HUGELY positive sign for him going forward. Nix deserves a lot of praise but so does his QB coach Davis Webb for utilizing that mini-bye to really nail down and fix some mechanics that were on display in New Orleans. Baltimore will present a stiffer challenge for sure but they have a very vulnerable secondary that I think Nix will be able to exploit often. If Denver can go 1-1 or better over these next two games against the elite of the AFC, we can give serious chat to the idea of a postseason appearance in Denver. Regardless, Nix's growth is going about as well as we could have hoped for. Great work on this analysis as always, Tim!
I didn't get to see the game, but from the film I can see there weren't a lot of check-downs and off-schedule throws. It looked like he was reading his progressions, taking shots and trusting his receivers to make plays. He also stayed in the pocket and let things develop instead of bailing at the first sign of pressure.
F Baltimore they have one of the worst secondary in the league!!! Bo nix and coach Payton will be ready! We need our wideouts to start making great catches in those deep balls!
Love Monday mornings! Kid is at school, I can relax with my coffee and watch Tim Jenkins film review of Nix. Pretty great tradition! My two thoughts: 1.) Watching the Humphrey & Franklin drops makes me miss Emmanuel Sanders! Both routes and perfect placed balls I remember seeing him make those catches time after time! 2.) Did Sutton also look off the safety on his throw!? Love it! 25:34
Great breakdown as always, thank you! The best game so far from Nix, without a doubt. And I feel like the last two games were super important for the growth of the team (offense), before we go into the next two tough games against Ravens and Fchiefs, because in both great wins we showed different types of offense with both beeing succesful. This week the passing game was awesome, the week before it was more run-heavy with also lot of runs by Nix. If we can now match both together in one game, with this defense on the other side of the ball, we can beat the Ravens and... just imagine we could be the first team this year who beats the FChiefs. That would be so awesome. But as always, one game at a time. Focus on Ravens, then lets go f*** the Chiefs xDDD #GoBroncos
Great stuff. I thought we saw what we've been wanting to see from BO. Working his progressions with his feet. Staying in the pocket when appropriate. Delivering great balls. If our receivers caught those deep balls and didn't fumble, this would have been a massive blowout and an even bigger day for Bo. The line played amazing. The pocket was clean all day.
Watching Bo Nix play reminds me a lot of Drew Brees, but with extra mobility. I like that he's finally stepping into his throws and letting it rip, the kids got an arm on him. Bo is going to be great, he's got a lot of raw talent the only thing he lacks is experience and some real weapons to throw to. Bo's got the tools and then right attitude to take it to the next level, just got to be patient with him at let him grow as a player.
Great breakdown as always. Nix is improving each week as is Sean Payton. You can tell they’re both getting more comfortable with each other + finding a rhythm. Exciting stuff!!
Just want to say thanks tim for always giving us the best content on the app and going in depth with these qbs. You give us fans a whole different perspective of the game💪🏼
Yes keyword DEVELOPING which is something most Broncos fans don’t get which is why they bashed him for starting 0-2 and said he was a bust over two fkn games smh now he’s 10 touchdowns 1int in the last 6 games with a 5-1 record!!!!! Dudes growth and development is real!
The more they put Bo into movement the better, it causes defenders to second guess and have to hold the egdes which should help the running game more in the future.
Love the solid breakdown again!! Any chance you break down more of the misses so we can learn from mistakes. Love that you included the good incompletions
They showed replays on the broadcast of the two deep balls you weren’t sure were good or not. First one looked good to me LJH just didn’t track it well and had his hands too far inside, second one went straight through Franklin’s arms and was a PERFECT throw.
Seeing a ton of good stuff from Bo these last few games, and an especially good game against the panthers. The only thing I’d like to see more of is him trusting Sutton the way he’s trusted Franklin on deep one on ones and let him go get it. Sutton is a beast at contested catches and he’ll come down with it every time. Take for example from last year the 1 handed TD against the chargers, the TD in double or triple coverage against the Texans, throw it up for him like in the Vikings game. This is the stuff I’d like to see more of, using the size and hands of our WR1, but so far he’s doing really well. Edit: also that throw from Sutton was pure gold
Big improvements from Bo regarding things we've seen all season on this channel - especially footwork and staying on platform. Receivers are brutal at times, but if they start to get it together, we are gonna be tough to deal with!
Really seems that hes getting a lot more comfortable and glad that he's made improvements with his feet and placement from the previous game on very similar plays
Loved the game plan. If there was ever a time to take the reins off your rook, this was it. Playing a struggling team, let it rip. If he has what it takes, you'll see it in a game like this, build his confidence and let the coach know that he can depend on his QB to execute the offense. I'll be interested to see where they go from here.
Man, I thought these were fun when it was showing Nix making the right reads and understanding the concepts even though the game was a bit too fast for him. Now that it's slowing down and the film is reinforcing how great he's playing, it's soooo much better. Thanks for putting these together. Learning about which parts are newer like Jalapeno and which parts are more traditional like Raider is a really fascinating part of your videos!
It seems like the emphasis this week was staying in the pocket and not bailing too early. Love using more boots and getting him on the move. We're starting to see the accuracy he was drafted for as he's settled his feet. Can't wait to see what this team can do with some real weapons.
Appreciate these videos Tim. The long shots are still not working. My amateur take is that Bo could probably put a bit more air on these. Also target the fastest receivers, they all seem to be stretching for these.
