2k started marketing toward the young kids, like who is wearing scuba gear on a court, emotes walking/running around, did they make money yes, but over time they lost a large percentage of their fan base with sub par gameplay, every game you load up and play it’s the same gameplay, same tats, outfits etc etc, after 10 years of this bs I’ll find something else to do with my time and money.

I think it will succeed if the Franchises gave out decent 1 or 2 year contracts for players. Keep it short, and well paid so that more people will have an invested interest. Retire all current players. Perhaps consider some of them for future "Hall of fame" events.

I never spend more than what I paid to purchase the game. I wait until it's 50-75% off around christmas as well. That way, I get the game at a fair price (because it's just a reskin every year), and I know what builds are viable, so I dont grind out a build from day 1, and it's borderline unusable (happened to me in 2K20).
