[00:00] This section discusses the key elements of a democratic government, including people's participation, conflict resolution, and equality and justice.
    - Direct democracy is only possible in small countries with a low population.
    - India has adopted the indirect form of government, where people choose their representatives through the process of election.
    - Gandhi believed that everyone, regardless of gender, caste, religion, education, or economic background, should have the right to vote.

[07:16 Key elements of a democratic government include participation, conflict resolution, and equality and justice, as exemplified by South Africa's transition from apartheid to a democratic country.
    - Participation is important in a democracy as the government is elected by the people.
    - Conflict resolution is necessary for a democratic government to function.
    - Equality and justice are crucial for a democratic society to thrive.
    - South Africa's transition from apartheid to democracy is a good example of the key elements of a democratic government.

    - Elections control the government and motivate them to work properly.
    - Other forms of participation, such as rallies and protests, allow people to voice their opinions and hold the government accountable.
    - In addition to voting, social media and other means of communication can be used for participation.

[29:04] In a democratic government, resolving conflicts and ensuring harmony among diverse communities are key elements.
    - Social movements are one way for people to express their views and protest against policies they disagree with.
    - Diversity can lead to conflicts between communities with different traditions, languages, religions, and economic backgrounds.
    - The government is responsible for solving disputes and maintaining peace through the constitution.

[36:20]Democratic government should commit to both equality and justice
    - Disputes due to different traditions and backgrounds can lead to conflicts and insecurity in society
    - Separate tribunals are made to solve river disputes according to the principles in the constitution
    - Equality and justice are inseparable, and giving the same resources to everyone is not justice

[43:36] Equality and justice are inseparable elements of a democratic government, and the government recognizes special groups and ensures equal treatment for them.
    - The concept of apartheid and race were discussed as examples of discrimination.

    Key elements of democratic government.
Direct democracy is possible where low population of people lived. For example - Switzerland follow direct democracy because population is not more.
People direct participate in law making.
But, India follow indirect form of democracy.
Democratic government is reffer to as representative democracy.
( Representative democracy: people do not participate directly instead choose their representative through a process of election.)
Democratic form of government is accountable and responsible for the people.
It explain it's action and defend it's decision.
    Key elements of democratic government.
    1. Participation
    2.conflict resolved
    3.equality and justice.
Participation: election is the process through people choose their representative.
Every government is elected for fixed period of time.
In India, government is elected for five year.
After five year government will be changed. If ruler wants to be continue in rule then re- elected by the people.
So, ruler work according to aspirations of the people and came several schemes and programmes.
Election is very necessary for strong democracy.
Another way for participation is rallies, strike and signature campaign.
People also participate through disapproval of law.
In India everyone has right to participate in election irrespective of caste, gender , religion, sex and place of birth.
    Resolve conflict
Conflict occur in a society due to various reasons:
When people of different caste, religion , region and economic background discriminate each other then conflict happened.
Conflict create tension in a society and people feel unsecured.
So, government has responsibility to make peace in a society.
Police play a very crucial role to resolve the conflict.
Conflict also occur due to religion procession and river dispute.
Kaveri river dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Krishna Raja Sagar dam was build In Karnataka.
People used water for irrigation and other propose in Bangalore.
Mittur dam was build in Tamil nadu.
The main reason for conflicts was the Krishna Raja Sagar dam was build in upstream and stopped water to follow in mittur dam which build in downstream
Hence , government take descion and resolve the conflict between two state river dispute.
    Equality and justice.
Earlier south Africa was ruled by apartheid law.
Apartheid system: separation on the basis of race.
South Africa has several races of people lived together.
    White people: non- racedantial.
    Non- white- native people.
Indians: came as labourer and traders.
There is discrimination between white and non white people.
Non white has not voting right and do not allow to make association.
They have separate bus, school, hospital, and land.
Nelson Mandela fought against apartheid system.
    1806: British colony.
    1820: increase
    1961: freedom limited
1994: south Africa became a democratic country.
The examples of south Africa show that how people are struggle for equality.
Equality and justices are inseparable term.
Justice can be achieved when people treated equally.

    Answers:-
1 and 3 only are correct
Bcoz people do not participate directly in representative democracy
4 tools of democracy are referendum,Initiate,Recall,Plebiscite.
*Plz provide clarification on this topic in the next lecture*
18 July is celebrated as Nelson Mandela International day. In 2010 UNGA opted the world to observe the day so in honour of Mandela's commitment to human right and contribution in conflict resolution.
    Mains writing:-
People participate indirectly in the govt by giving votes and thereby electing their representatives who will meet all the requirements to be fulfilled of running an efficient political system.
They also participate in the government by organising rallies or protests on the reason of non coordination between the government and the people.
Certain group of people or committees are also formed by many people of the similar kind who come together to shape the decission making by the government by providing their consents or revolting whenever needed.
Ex-Drivers Union protesting in Odisha on the existing BJD government to shape laws regarding the various drivers of the country.

    • @sunilnigam7412
      @sunilnigam7412 Год назад +2

      For mains preparation
      1. Ma'am firstly people choose their representative by directly or indirectly method .Those countries which have less people then they choose their representative by directly like Switzerland otherwise those countries which have more people like India then , they choose by indirectly through voting .
      2. People also participate in the law making process by approving or disapproving specific law and challenging them , for this steps those people who faces injustice by the government on the basis of race or other wrong decision then, they can also give their decision with the help of court . 3. People participate in government job and help those people who don't aware of government policy or decision then , they aware and they also helping it to implement its chores.
