I worked for Vlasic in City of Idustry and was very impressed how the plant worked. Bravo. Since working for them, I never ate any other brand of pickles. I trust Vlasic more.
Does anyone know why Vlasic is selling 16 Oz of Polish dill spears in a 24 Oz jar ??? The first thing I do when I open a bottle of spears is to put them in a much more narrow jar. I have noticed recently that when I do this now, there are no extra pickles left over in the larger jar. Why are they still selling these pickles in a larger jar ???? I don't need all this extra pickle juice. WRZ 2021-08-08
I LOVE pickles- all kinds- but can't remember the last time I had Vlasic pickles. I'm for Claussen all the way!! It's the crispy pickles & the brine- yummy! Always keep the remaining brine for coleslaw, potato salad....😋
@@Nightmareman3 Definitely Clausen's Pickles! They're a little garlicky and always crisp because they're kept in the refrigerated section. They don't go thru the heat process to make them shelf stable so they are nice and crisp when you get them! Yum! What's not to love(if you like pickles)?!!!😋👍
Vlasic pickles quality has gone straight down the sewer. I used to love the crunchy, salty yummy pickles my parents bought from the refrigerated section of the grocery store. I haven't been able to find the brand in the refrigerated section for decades. Today, I found the brand "on the shelf". I tried it this evening and I was appalled and disgusted. The moment I bit into the Kosher wedge I nearly gagged. The skin was barely "crisp" and the rest of the pickle was nothing but mushy. What the HELL happened to this company's pickling practices? My grandmother, and I am certain, the ancestors of the current owners, would be rolling over in their graves if they knew what is currently being produced. I'm sorry, but my once beloved Vlasic pickles now nauseate me and are not even fit for the compost pile.
Some pickle companies ensure that every jar is full of pickles. With Vlasic, in every case, some jars are full of pickles, while others are 75% brine and only 25% pickles. This is terrible quality-control.

Vlasic pickle began in MI during the 1940s not 1912. The father began a creamery after moving to the US in 1912. His son later expanded the business and got the idea to make pickles and bottle them in the 1940s, not 1912.
I read Robert Vlasic's obit in the New York Times and then read the Vlasic Pickle history on the company web page. You're correct about the creamery. The grandfather Frank started in the creamery business and his son Joe took over. It was Joe who added pickles to the business and Frank's grandson Robert brought in the stork before selling out to Campbell's soup. My grandfather and Joe were partners in the milk business in Detroit for a period of time in the 30s-40s until there was a falling out over money. My grandfather was also an involuntary partner of the Purple Gang who would temporarily "borrow" (steal) his first milk truck to bring liquor across the frozen Detroit River from Windsor during Prohibition in the '20s.
@@raynessel4574 My family has a similar story to yours about running liquor. My grandfather and his family were moonshine bootleggers on the East coast and when he was a kid his family was split between being bootleggers and US Marshalls, they would let the other side of the family go without hassle if caught. When my grandfather was 15 or so he got caught bootlegging in Texas and was sent to Huntsville state prison where he met Johnny Cash in the late 1950s when he sang at the prison, after hearing my grandfather was a bootlegger at a young age, Johnny Cash was interested in his family's liquor and story and kept in touch with my grandfather after he got out of Huntsville and went back to his family's homestead in New Hampshire where he made and gave Cash his family recipe Moonshine till the late 80s, they were friends till Cash passed away at 71 in 03 and have many pictures together over that time, when my grandfather passed away in 2021 we found 3 guitars signed by Johnny Cash that he had gotten over the years from him that were tucked away in his house on the family homestead in New Hampshire. I love getting to tell that story as it brings me joy and keeps my grandfathers story alive.

Someone else raised an issue I hadn't thought about until today. The Vlasic label continues to list these pickles as "24 Fluid ounces" as they always have, which is very deceptive. So it's impossible for consumers to know they have greatly decreased the contents of these jars by just looking at the label. Only someone like me who has been consistently putting the contents into a 16 oz condiments jar would notice. Most of the time, when the contents of a package is decreased that is usually reflected on the label but Vlasic doesn't do that. WRZ 2021-08-09
