Don't forget to hit the Hot Grill in Clifton NJ, opened on Friday the 13th 1968. Get them all the way, also get the chili cheese burgers. Fries with their gravy and cheese are a must too, gravy is very good.
Vaca-J I appreciate you going to all these hot dog places. Some of these are on my bucket list places in NJ. Jim's lunch in Millville Nj does burgers and hot dogs with their own special sauce if you're ever in the area. Say hi to your dad and Ellie the B for me
You have stepped up the Hot Dog game with the Suit. Now everyone knows it Vacay. Rutgers vs Illinois this Saturday. There is a Food Truck on the Rutgers Boardwalk called Eat my Franks... Chicago Style... legit

Deep fried hotdogs have been a North Jersey thing since the start. The first was a hotdog cart that deep fried hotdogs in the early 1900’s here in Paterson and where the name Texas Wiener ( chili style sauced dog came from ) think the guys name was William Papas ( Greek ) whole story is in the library of congress. The first deep fried chili dog stand was Libby’s Lunch next to the Great Falls in Paterson , unfortunately Libby’s closed a few yrs ago as have most of the others who at one time were Libby’s employees that left and opened their own hotdog joints all over North Jersey.
it would cost anyone from ny tolls to go there unless they were going to nj anyway no in long island no small place could make it although we have a ranger restaurant that delivers in freeport and many chinese places some closed
Always get 2 chili cheese and a large birch. Back in the day I’d get fries too but can’t eat that much any more . Hirams is the best Hot dog stand anywhere. Bar none!!!!!
Now that you guys have gotten your feet wet You need to start ordering your dogs the proper local way. You need to ask for your dogs "All the Way" which is the iconic way to order your dogs which means with Chili sauce, onions and mustard. North Jersey which is the undisputed "Texas Weiner Mecca", "Hot Dog Universe" of the world known for their GREEK STYLE CHILI SAUCE (cinnamon, nutmeg...). It's a looser chili sauce whose recipes over the years has been SECRETLY kept. These are the MUST STOPS that serve the GREEK STYLE NORTH JERSEY CHILI SAUCE: Hot Grill-Clifton, Johnny & Hanges-Fair Lawn, Jersey Johnny's- Woodland Park, Goffle Grill-Hawthorne, Belmont Grill-North Haledon, The Lantern-Haskell, Paul's Place-Hewitt. PRO-TIP: Locals ALWAYS get their French fries with Chili Sauce or with the Gravy Sauce (Brown gravy) (if available) as well. Another iconic spot, Although not a typical Greek Sauce but ironically owned by a Greek family is Boulevard Drinks in Jersey City offers a DELICIOUS SPICY ONION SAUCE. Their CHILI Cheese dogs are LEGENDARY! (Parking is metered in this high traffic area).

I had the distinct misfortune to stop off at Hiram's with friends during a recent visit to New Jersey. I thought it missed the mark in every possible way: the space had no charm; it was, in fact, outdated, worn and unappetizing; the service was less than gracious and sub-par; and the hotdogs were uber-chewy, oddly textured, overcooked, scarcely edible. In sum, as I shall write in my forthcoming review article: notwithstanding its would-be historical value, Hiram's is underwhelming and sure to disappoint. That said: I think you guys are a great team and I very much enjoy your presentations. Cheers!
@rogerrosen2323 Suffice to say that the hotdogs were tough, tight, wrinkled and virtually un-chewable. If that is the result of frying rather than overcooking, so be it!
@@youngdoctorathlete8334 yes usually they are grilled or boiled or both i shred and heat on pan soaking off fat due to lack of teeth ask for non fried if you go
The autograph from the Sopranos was from Vincent Curatola who played Johnny Sack. Another great video. Love this channel.

I grew up 1 mile from there. Do you remember Callahan's across the street?
Calahans was second rate compared to Hirams.
Johnny Sack on the Soprano's 🌭
I recently saw a video of a hotdog shop in Westwood and Westfield called 1950's Original. Looks like the same style as Hiram's and Rutts Hut.
Hirams is the best
The sopranos photo has his name signed on the picture haha “Johnny sack”

It seems like you're on a hot dog expedition. You need to try out Destination Dogs in New Brunswick, NJ. They're fantastic!
