At the time Wu-Tang came out I was doing my little raps back then. And I respect how they came and kicked down the door. They played the game like chess they sent Method Man out first... m e t h o d man..... every character they introduced had their own personality it was beautiful to watch. Dudes were selling their own tapes man. They made Shaolin sound like a fly mysterious Ghost Town... that they woke up. Every one of them had their own rap personality. When they made the song cream... they started an anthem. They came in the door with a " rap menu". Were they told a story it was quite intriguing shout out to Wu-Tang yo...

even though Rae & Ghost where my favourite out of the Wu, when i heard RZA verse on the Gravediggaz - The night the earth cried.....it took the game of spitting to a whole other level....theres so much knowledge within that one verse it makes you start to research history.

1.Inspectah Deck (his bars are always crazy great delivery) 2. Gza (I like that intellectual bars) 3.Masta Killa (he has that thing like Rakim where he always sounds super serious like he really knows what he’s talking about) 4. Method Man (he a spitter of course) 5. Ghostface Killah (a Street spitter, Dope story telling) 6. Raekwon (dope lyrics Story teller slang specialist) 7. RZA (his voice is what really carry him over...I used to think he sounds like Count Dracula lol like if Dracula could rap..and his production superb and intellectual too) 8. Ol Dirty Bastard (ever tho ol dirty epitomized Wutang to the utmost, he was crazy on the surface but intelligent too if you really payed hard attention to him. His antics he was the fun side to Wu-Tang. He’d troll most of the time then every now that then drop a super jewel then go back to trolling lol he was the original troll 🤔😆) 9. Cappadonna (lol he’s the big noyd to Wu-Tang, kinda true the official but unofficial member at the same time but his bars crazy) 10. U-GOD (he was dope every now and then a great song filler like you’d hear all hard shite back to back then you get a intermission to calm down a little then go back to hard shite ugod was the intermission good energy but so ya brain don’t overload U-God comes in slow the pace down before it picks up again... it was still on course tho) and that my list and why. Salute 💯🔥

Wu-Tang for me is like the X-Men, they all have individually something special to bring to the game. My favorite for the longest was RZA because he formed the whole shit plus I was attracted to his wisdom and particular style in rhythming and subject matter. Next is Ghost because he's like an abstract painter when it comes to his rhythms especially in Supreme Clientele. Ol' Dirty Bastard (Rest in Paradise) for his raw energy and his personality. Rae for his ill storytelling, Deck for making the best opening verses to a song, followed by GZA for spitting that deep science, following Cappadonna, Method, Masta Killa, and UGod.
In the present, right now, i believe Method Man is on top, spitting nicely and probably better than when he first started.
I like the Wu Family branches also, Killarmy, Sunz of Man, Black Knights, NorthStar. But, my two favorite songs of all time in Hip Hop as of today is from that Black Market Militia album. Paintbrush with Trag, KP, and Hell Razah, but even better the track "Black Market" with Trag, KP, Hell Razah, and William Cooper. I listen to those two songs regularly. They're truly a beautiful work of art. (Sorry for the long post)

    5. MEF
    6. GOLDEN ARMS
    7. RZA
    8. RAE
    9. CAP
ODB is in a league of his own, b.
Prepare for a long ass breakdown. And these opinions are obviously all intended with the utmost respect:
    9. Cappadonna: He is capable of some phenomenal performances, such as his own song Milk The Cow and Fish from Ironman, but he desperately needs quality control.
    8. Raekwon: I’m sorry but think about his material after the Purple Tape and Ironman. No album he dropped since has ever come close to them two. He has an annoying tendency to be blind to his faults and work with people that are not worthy of his presence. AT ALL. Plus, as amazing an MC as he is, for some reason he is mostly incapable of delivering standout verses when sharing a song with the rest of the clan or with MCs like Nas or Prodigy RIP. Shame, because he could’ve done so much more in his career.
    7. RZA: You’d think that the architect of the Wu sound and a member of the legendary Gravediggaz would have a better track record with his solo material. As it stands, though, he’s 2 for 2, as Digital Bullet and Birth Of A Prince are masterpieces but In Stereo and Digi Snacks are WAY too underwhelming. And he gets too caught up with his own genius. That be the case with revolutionary artists such as him, though.
    6. Golden Arms: First off, this man is BREATHTAKING on the double album Wu Forever. Except for that Black Shampoo joint, which is hella embarrassing. Second, just because he didn’t know what he was doing on his first two albums doesn’t mean he’s not worth listening to, because 2009 onwards, the man has kept improving drastically. And his 2018 album is a damn masterpiece.
    5. Mef: I share your admiration for this man’s work. His tag team with Redman is a stroke of genius. His first, second and fourth albums are AMAZING. In contrast, his third album is one of the worst albums from the Wu camp. His Meth Lab albums are only aight, though, which doesn’t really reflect the brilliance of his previous output.
    4. Ghost: By far, the most prolific rapper I’ve ever come across that still drops quality material. Only reason I have him beneath GZA is the fact that he dropped that R&B album and wasn’t really up to standard with that Big Doe Rehab project, even though it had some flaming joints.
    3. GZA: My guy, GZA is the foundation of it all. This man NEVER DROPPED A WACK ALBUM. Scratch that, damn near EVERY SINGLE VERSE he ever dropped is a full blown lesson in the art form of MCing. Plus, Liquid Swords is the best Wu solo album of all time. I dare anyone to disagree. He could’ve easily taken the #1 spot had it not been for the last 2.
    2. Masta Killa: HOW IS THIS MUFUCCA’S RHYMES NOT BEING TAUGHT AT HARVARD??!! This man’s style and skill level at crafting infallible verses is simply breathtaking. I just want y’all to go back and research his verses 93-98. Count how many times this man uses the word “like”. HE ALMOST DOESN’T USE THE DAMN WORD. Furthermore, THUS MAN DIDN’T RAP PRIOR TO JOINING THE CLAN!!! And to still come with the most vivid, imaginative shit and routinely leave heads scratching with your references despite all that? Never mind the FACT that THREE of his four albums are CLASSICS, FRONT TO BACK. Also, when you’re capable of besting an in-form Sean Price RIP, you’re a VERY threatening MC. Trag should actually collaborate with him in the future!
    1. Deck: Bruh. This mufucca made a habit out of BODYING THE ENTIRE CLAN EVERY. DAMN. TIME they shared a song with him 92-97. He also bodied Prodigy and Big Punisher, May they both Rest In Peace. CREAM, Mr. Sandman, Duel Of The Iron Mic, Cold World, Guillotine Swordz, Assassination Day, Let My N****z Live (he bodied Nas on that, too) and EVERY APPEARANCE OF HIS ON WU FOREVER. Fuck it, I don’t even care that his 2003 album is hot garbage and one of the worst albums I’ve ever heard. He’s done too much for the game by that point. And mufuccas still sleeping on his 1999 debut.
Told y’all this gon be a long ass breakdown. LMAO!
PEACE BE UNTO Y’ALL BROTHERS AND RAMADAN MUBARAK!!!!

1st up, ghostface is the most consistent of the clan. Always carries the flag 4 the Wu no matter what album or what type song he's on. He's always wu-tang.
Now the hard part (made easy) I can't ever say who's the best in the clan, it doesn't work like that. Every member brings a certain dynamic to the music (even u-god) you might have a song where Rae bodied that 1, ghost bodied that 1, masta killa took that 1, deck took that 1 etc etc. Not only is it the rhyme (& they can all rhyme) but the style of the beat to compliment that rhyme. A prime example, u god is weakest lyricist in the Wu & I'm sure most would agree with that right? Yet I heard a few songs where u know what, he bodied it. Not because of his lyrics but his distinctive baritone, the raw aggression in his voice & again the pace & styling of the beat (he works best over a fast beat in my opinion)
Blood on the cobblestone rmx, just an example.
Gza lyrically the best rapper ever, just the words, the smoothness, delivery, pronounciation. Some might say he's monotone, doesn't have the hype of say ghostface or the charisma of odb. But it's always a calm & deadly precise delivery just like masta killa too. (Highly underrated) the perfect guy to start a song or finish up a song.
Cappa deck rza have all had there magic moment too. Cappa winter warz. Deck triumph, rza the chase (my opinion)
So yeah couldn't really pin down a top 10. On a whole they are the best ever period.
Sidenote: prodigal sunn, hell razah, killa priest, killa sin. Those who know knows.
I could go on 4ever but I'll leave it here or I'll end up writing a novel. So peace.

Ant Francis I'm glad you mentioned U God baritone... I always felt there was something unique about his style... there is one song they are all rapping on I forget the name of it but I used to rewind u-god God part over and over... I have to look for it I know he said something about Agony defeat in my opinion he killed it... I like the way you broke this down
